“Housed in a big old converted barn on the main A148 between Fakenham and Holt, this cafe and restaurant with shop, deli and butchers under the same roof is place we always call into when nearby. Nice to pop in for tea and scones or a light lunch, we used to bump into the late John Hurt here, it was a favourite place of his, particularly living locally… he was always happy to chat about football and Norwich City.”

“The property at 8 Market Place, Holt, was built in 1631, the date set in the west gable. It has continuously served the area as a shop since 1730 or thereabouts, with the involvement of the Baker family beginning in the 1760's or 1770's. Now, nearly 250 years later, this exceptional department store stands as one of the oldest retailers in East Anglia and one of the few in the country to remain under the ownership and control of the founding family.”

“If it’s retail therapy you’re after, then the three storey Chapel Field shopping centre in the heart of Norwich is the place to go. With all the high street shops under one roof, Chapel field was built on the old Caleys chocolate factory site in 2005. But if you are looking for something that little bit different, then a short walk from chapel field brings you to the famous Norwich Market, with its striped canopies and a treasure trove of market goods, or a few minutes on, and you find yourself in ‘the lanes’ of Norwich with some great boutiques, cafes, independent stores, including the hedonistic ‘Head in the Clouds’ shop that opened in Pottergate in 1971...and hasn’t changed since!”

“When out and about shopping in Norwich, or if you’re a visitor to the City, the Royal Arcade is a wonderful place to visit. Opened in 1899, the 247 foot long covered avenue was designed and built by Dereham-born architect George Skipper and today it houses a wonderful mixture of shops and restaurants - plus the famous Colman's Mustard Shop! Explore the delightful shops within and don’t forget to take a moment to look up and around you at the wonderful surroundings you are in!”
