“Paul Harwood, the owner, has lived in Cornwall for 25 years and is passionate about seafood having learnt his skills working with Rick Stein for 14 years in Padstow. Paul has also spent many years travelling the world gaining culinary inspiration and also fulfilling his other passion for surfing. Situated right on Britain's most famous surfing beach, The Fish House is a small, cosy restaurant. The inspiration for the menu comes straight from the sea, using locally caught fish and shellfish straight from Newquay harbour. The menu is varied offering flavours from around the world. Paul and Elise want to provide the finest, freshest seafood available in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, overlooking the sea.”

“Town zoo, don’t be expecting elephants and giraffes, but there are zebras, lions, and lynx among others! Nice little day out and it’s situated just off Trenance gardens, and right beside a pretty decent kids playpark, crazy golf course, mini train, and coffee shop! ”

“Lusty Glaze beach was crowned Beach of the Year 2017 by the The Times and The Sunday Times. And although privately owned the beach is fully open to the public at no cost. At the heart of the Lusty Glaze resort lies the bar and restaurant, relaxed, intimate and friendly with gasp inducing views and sunsets you can enjoy many culinary delights year round either by the roaring log burner or in the afternoon sunshine. For those looking for a little more adventure on their visit to the cove, The centre located down on the sand provides activities both water and cliff based! From surfing to abseiling and much more in-between, so for a fun filled day or even a team building exercise this centre is the place for you.”

“Newquay Cinema is the Biggest Cinema closest to the cottage and is an alternative to the smaller White River Cinema in St. Austell but parking can be difficult especially in the height of season as it is situated in the town center of Newquay and therefore gets busy. ”

“Great eatery for a spot of Brunch, Serving from 8am – 3pm daily (prime bunching time), this small but stylish café, owned by local brothers Damian and Olly. Coffee (from Cornish roasters Origin) is a specialty here – you can get a mean flat white or creamy cappuccino – plus, there are lots of options for the health-conscious and latte curious. Try an almond turmeric latte, coconut chai latte, dairy-free milkshake or smoothie brimming with super foods. Food wise, the menu is perfectly formed with hearty and healthy options such as Acai bowls and hipster favourite, egg, avocado and chilli on sourdough. There’s a front terrace for al fresco dining too.”

“Crantock offers a large expanse of golden sands backed by dunes between the Pentire Headlands to both east and west. Popular for swimming, snorkelling, surfing and wind-surfing with board/canoe hire on the beach. Dolphins accasionally visit too! Lifeguard cover is provided from late May to late September. Cafes, toilets and parking with 150 spaces are nearby along with a camping site. Access is difficult through steep dunes.”

“Fabulous waves from the huge Atlantic Ocean, sweep across the powdery, golden beach. Feel the space beneath the magnificent, kaleidoscope sky, and the wind from the ocean take your breath away. (Yes, I'm a city dweller totally enthralled by Cornwall!)”
