“Newcastle's Memorial Walk is a spectacular coastal walk with a personal connection for thousands of locals. The 450 metre walk along the cliff top links Newcastle’s Strzelecki Lookout to Bar Beach. Built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ANZAC landing at Gallipoli in 1915 and the commencement of steel making in Newcastle; it acts as a magnificent memorial to the men and women of the Hunter who served their community and their country. The Walk is located above Memorial Drive The Hill, on Strzelecki Headland (between Bar Beach and King Edward Park).”

“This is the site of an old fort originally built in the early 1800s and is the only fort in Australia to have fired its guns at the Japanese during WWII. It's a nice historical spot that kids will love but there is also a great view of the harbour and city from the lawns.”

It overlooks all of Newcastle famous beaches, great spot for viewing dolphins and whales when it's the right season and a great spot to watch the sunset. It has been set up as a memorial reflection and is a popular spot for all ages. If you're wanting to do a longer walk, you can continue walking all the way to Merewether beach or back the other way up Bar Beach Hill towards King Edward park- enjoying the stunning views along the way.”

“Sightseeing Also! Even if you don’t get in for a swim, you at least have to walk over and take a look at our beautiful Bogey Hole. My favourite time to go is during rough weather when the seas are up, it’s spectacular too see the waves smash into the cliffs. However, obviously when the weather is good - its great for a dip. Just be careful, it’s not patrolled and the waves can get you... and your belongings! The path to get to the Bogey Hole is via King Edward Park, which is a lovely walk that you can wind right down past Newcastle Beach, the Baths & around to Nobby’s Beach and the Break-wall. ”
