“ the venue that started it all. It was the Ryman -- “the Mother Church of Country Music” -- that first started attracting names like Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, and George Jones, securing Nashville’s status as the American center of country music. The Ryman remains a country music mecca, but as one of the city’s most dazzling concert-going experiences, has also hosted everyone from the Foo Fighters to Janelle Monae. Even if you don’t make it to a concert, it’s at least worth taking the time for a brief tour. Check their homepage for concerts and dates.”

“Located in Centennial Park the Parthenon is one of Nashville's best cultural attractions. Built to mark the state's hundredth birthday, the design was chosen as reference to the Nashville's nickname as the "Athens of the South". The Parthenon and Centennial Park can be seen in "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" ”

“This picture does NOT do the park justice. Please walk down and explore it on a beautiful day. At any given time, you may randomly see historical reenactments like old time baseball games (in full costume), civil war exhibits / reenactments, and live music. Little ones will enjoy the splashpad on the far side of the park (bring a suit or change of clothes). Just past the splashpad is a giant stone map of Tennessee, easy to overlook under your feet as you walk towards James Robertson Pkwy. We frequently sit on the lawn with a picnic lunch or dinner - the view of the capital building is amazing! The granite walls all along the outside of the park tell Tennessee's history in digestible snippets. Visit the WWII memorial and find all the places you've visited on the giant rotating globe. Let the kids do their own play in the old world style amphitheater - or catch whatever show is happening!”

“This area is chock-full of local history, but it’s sadly not as glamorous as it was in its heyday. However, some sites have been preserved for tours and whatnot, like Studio B, so definitely check them out, if you’d like some deeper insight into how this area helped change the face of the music industry.”

“This is an upbeat bar with dancing later on in the evenings! They often have themed DJs. It's right next to Dino's, so these two together make a good 1-2 punch combo for a local night out.”
