“The Boston Art Museum is large. A bit further from the center, the green subway line leads to it, however if you are willing I highly recommend the walk. The museum is close to Northeastern University and Back Bay Fens Park. The museum's collection is vast; Asia, Africa, Egypt and a large collection of Impressionists including one of Monet's largest collections outside France.”

“The Museum of Science is one of the best tours in the city, showing science not as boring or hard to understand, but fun and interesting by revealing concepts in an interactive way and with practical examples in smart and thoughtful attractions for adults and children.”

It combines the collections of the former Peabody Museum of Salem (which acquired the Society's collection) and the Essex Institute. “If you are a fan of the artist, you must visit the museum! It's located in the Berkshires in MA, about an hour's drive from West Hartford. It is also close to Edith Wharton's (the author) home, The Mount, so you could visit both in the same day.”

“There are many things to do in the town of Mystic. There is the Seaport which features a historic park with details about early colonial life. The Mayflower II leaves Plymouth, and is stored in the Mystic Seaport during winter. There is also the Mystic Aquarium, which has a variety of sealife and a lotus pond. The town has many restaurants and shops. ”

“This is one of the oldest and most prolific natural history museums in the world. Founded in 1866 it contains the Great Hall of Dinosaurs, multiple exhibits dedicated to human and mammal evolution, wildlife dioramas, Egyptian artifacts, birds, minerals and Native American displays. There are hands on exhibits for the kids and is located in a beautiful area of New Haven right in the Yale University grounds.”

“The Harvard Art Museum is not the size of the Museum of Fine Arts or Gardner Museum in Boston (both of which are amazing), but has a very impressive collection, is housed in a gorgeous, recently gut-renovated building, and is large enough that you undoubtedly will be unable to see the whole thing in one visit. There is also currently (through July 28) a special exhibit called The Bauhaus and Harvard that is quite good and showcases the University’s Bauhaus collection, which is the largest in the world outside of Germany.”

“Plimoth Plantation is a must attend place during Thanksgiving! This is a site of the first Thanksgiving. Come and enjoy experiencing live in 1600's while interacting with characters who are portraying actual pilgrims from 1600's. Try local foods and even have Thanksgiving dinner with the Pilgrims - be sure to book that ahead of time. Plimoth Plantation is located within less than an hour drive from the place!”

“Mark Twain's home is a beautiful Queen Anne style design, and the tours are fabulous. They also have a gallery and host exhibits featuring many different artists, so a visit here goes beyond just the works of Mark Twain. It's also directly next to the home of Harriet Beecher Stowe, so you can visit both with one stop.”
