“Established in 1896, the Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum in Melaka was once the family home of a prominent Peranakan family prior to being converted into a heritage museum in 1985. In fact, it was the first private museum to be set up in Malaysia! It showcases the local history of ethnic Chinese-Malays called Baba-Nyonya or Peranakan in Melaka.”

“At the Melaka Submarine Museum visitors get the chance to see a submarine up close and to go inside and witness the living and working conditions of submariners. There is only one submarine here, the SMD Ouessant, an Agosta 70 class submarine which was built in 1978 by Arsenal de Cherbourg in France. It was decommissioned by the French Navy in 2001 and subsequently transferred to the Royal Malaysian Navy where it was used as training vessel from 2005 - 2009. It is an electric/diesel powered non-nuclear submarine. Similar submarines have been used by the Spanish and Pakistani navies. Now the submarine is propped up on steel supports on dry land and is open to the public as a museum.”

“Malacca Planetarium Adventure Science Centre, a.k.a Melaka Planetarium, is a learning centre dedicated to the exciting world of astronomy and science. Opened in 2009, the planetarium is right beside the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC). The three-storey, Islamic-inspired complex houses multiple exhibition areas together with a cafeteria, a library and also Malaysia’s largest dome theater for periodical movie screenings.”
