Factory
“The Madeira Wine Company was founded in 1913, incorporating several companies or independent producers who joined forces. The cellars are open to the public and in addition to the architectural curiosity there are tasting rooms, warehouses a shop and an exhibition area. All together, the history of Madeira wine is told, from the production process in the vineyard until its transformation into Madeira wine in its many varieties, Sercial, Malvasia, Verdelho and Boal. ”

Natural Feature
“It’s quite an adventure to walk to this beach a couple of kilometres east of Câmara de Lobos. The pathway hugs the coast and sections cut straight through the cliffs. There are caves on the way, battered by the ocean surf, and after a little while you’ll come to this sheltered beach. With large pebbles it’s more of a location to ramble and take in the scenery, or head to the small promenade where there are a couple of restaurants.”

Parque
“Both trails begin on the regional road (E.R. 110), and go down as far as the Rabaçal government house. The trails diverge along two parallel levadas located on different levels. Trail PR 6.1, goes along Levada do Risco, at 1000m above sea level, taking the hiker to an impressive waterfall, which falls horizontally creating a ridge in the rock. If you go down to PR6 you can visit the 25 Spring Lagoon (Lagoa das 25 Fontes), created by the waters which come down from the Mountain Marsh (Paul da Serra) and mysteriously appear from behind the wall that forms the lagoon, where you can see more than 25 springs. ”
