“#1 WINNER BEST BEACH FOR ROCK HUNTING (Traverse Magazine Red Hot Best Awards). A GUEST RECOMMENDS THIS - I HAVE NOT YET BEEN HERE PERSONALLY. This beach is in Leland, not Traverse City. Guest said this is their very favorite beach. LOCAL TIPS: 1. Try the whitefish dip from Carlson's Fisheries in Leland. #1 WINNER (Traverse Magazine Red Hot Best Awards). Made with fresh whitefish caught and smoked outside their door … Lake Michigan on a cracker. 2. Fishtown in Leland voted #3 WINNER FOR PLACE TO TAKE AN INSTAGRAM (Traverse Magazine Red Hot Best Awards). 3. Be sure to enjoy a Village Cheese Shanty sandwich! ”

“The trail system here takes in an easy to challenging 3.3 miles. The 3/4 and 1- 1/2 mile loops can be covered in 2 hours. Moderate hiking includes sandy trails, stairs, and slopes. Info kiosk at trail head, benches at ancient maple. Beautiful octagon-shaped deck and sitting area overlooking Houdek Creek, built and donated by the Houdek Family. Note: there is a significant stand of poison ivy near the entrance. Take care to stay on the wide trail. ”
