“A beautifully-preserved building from the early eighteenth century. Opened as Ireland’s first public library in 1707, the original oak bookcases house more than 25,000 rare and fascinating books and the Library features year round exhibitions. Famous past readers have included Jonathan Swift, Bram Stoker, and James Joyce. Children particularly welcome, but do beware of the ghost of the Archbishop”

“Public library with a free Yeats Exhibition on the lower floor. Note: The National Gallery, The National Museum (Archaeology), The National Museum (Natural History- AKA "The Dead Zoo"), and the National Library are all in the same area, so it's worth covering them together. All are free of charge. The Dead Zoo is my personal favourite.”

“This is an iconic building started in 2009 and opened a few years later. While it was controversial to commence the construction of a library costing €40m in the middle of the recession, it has proved a huge success. The scale of the building is awe inspiring and the number of books lent there is staggering. A wonderful piece of modern architecture.”

“The National College of Art & Design is Ireland’s foremost design college. A former distillery, the campus was imaginatively redesigned in the 1980s by Burke Kennedy Doyle Architects. The Gallery located in the Harry Clarke Building to the front holds regular exhibitions. The connecting glass building here was designed by Murray O’Laoire Architects in 2006. ”
