“Korcula Town is the main town on the island, with a population of about 3000 inhabitants. The main feature/sight of the whole town is Korcula Old Town – a medieval walled town with its towers, numerous buildings and monuments, cafés, restaurants, hotels, galleries, open-air cinema and more. Korcula is very popular for visitors as a central location from which they explore the rest of the island and its surroundings. The town of Korcula is also an administrative center of the area”

“It is said that the Prince Anthenor of Troy founded Korčula back in the 13th century. Back then it had a different name, „Korkyra Melania” because of its dense black forests. Having endured horrible bombings in the Second World War, Korčula has been on the rise ever since. Today, it is known for its fresh seafood, beautiful heritage, and beaming tourism, making this stone masonry town perfect for tourists. One of the most famous travellers ever, Marco Polo, was even born here! ”

“Vela spila (The Big Cave) is located above the cove of Kale in Vela Luka and is one of the most important prehistoric archaeological localities in Europe. Excavations and the archaeological investigation of the site lead to the conclusion that the cave has been continuously inhabited from the early Stone Age (about 20 000 bc), and there is evidence of an occasional human presence in the following periods – Iron Age and Copper Age. To this day it has been used by the Greeks, the Romans, the Byzantines and many others. There is a valuable archaeological collection of objects that have been found on this site in the Culture Centre Museum in the town centre of Vela Luka, and visitors can visit the cave in two ways: By car, for there is a 2,5 km road leading from Kale cove to the cave, or on foot along a walking path on the Pinski Rat hill. ”

“Also called the Cathedral of Korčula, this Roman Catholic cathedral took almost three centuries to build, and was finished in the 16th century with the help of the local Korčula masters. It is one of the most beautiful examples of Dalmatian architecture”

“Experience the scrumptious food of Aterina. It is located in the 2000 year old town overlooking the sea. And if you are lucky admire the spectacular sunset while you enjoy the delicious food of Aterina. I in particular love the "bits and pieces on a fork" with the beautiful aroma of their white wine and my food experience is not complete without the unusual and refreshing basil cake. The charming owner Maja and the lovely and handsome staff made it all a wonderful experience. ”
