“The Buddhist stupa of Boudha Stupa dominates the skyline; it is one of the largest stupas in the world. The influx of large populations of refugees from Tibet has seen the construction of over 50 gompas around Boudha. As of 1979, Boudha Stupa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the most popular tourist sites in the Kathmandu area.”

“Charumati was a daughter of Indian emperor Ashoka through a concubine and the adopted daughter of his wife, Empress Asandhimitra. She was trained in nursing by her. She was married to a Nepalese prince Devapala Kshatriya in Kathmandu.[1] She is credited to have founded the monastery of Chabahil (called Charumati Vihara), which is one of the oldest Buddhist monastery of Nepal.”
