“This is the one and only beach to take the little ones so they can walk in the sand. "Sandy Beach" is how the locals know this area. There is a play area and covered shelters (available to rent). It is also the access point to the historic Treadwell mining area (where do you think the sand came from).”

“The Eaglecrest Ski area is a great place to hike and enjoy the lush greenery and wildflowers. The hike, which zig zags up and down the mountain, is pretty lengthy and also quite the work out, so we recommend carving out a big chunk of time if you're interested in doing the whole thing. Please let your hosts know where you are going and when you expect to be back. Take a cell phone or borrow our vhf radio. ”

“Great place for a picnic, beach combing, tidal pool exploring, or just a gentle walk along the water's edge. This is a Federal campground and picnic area. If you want to use one of the covered areas, be sure and check the posted schedule of rentals as you wouldn't want to be set up just as a schedule group arrives. ”

“Take a hike up the mountain to the tram. It is a fairly easy hike unless you venture past the tram then it is steep and the rocks can be slippery if it is raining. You can hike back down the trail or ride the tram back, but please take a look around to see what the facilities have to offer. If you are going for a hike, please let your hosts know where you are going and when to expect you back. Take you cell phone or you can borrow our vhf radio. ”

“Cope Park is located in Evergreen Bowl and is a little park where a big event happened. This is where Chief Kowee took Joe Juneau and Richard Harris up Gold Creek and showed them the gold!”

“This is a very flat and easy trail. However, because of that it seems to go on forever... But it's worth it at the end to see Herbert Glacier. Round trip is about eight miles. Please let your hosts know where you're going and when you expect to be back. Take your cell phone or you can borrow our vhf radio. ”

“Have you heard about the ice caves in Mendenhall Glacier? This is the trail to go see them. It's not an easy or kid safe trail. There are tour guides you can use to go to the caves and this is highly recommended. It's well traveled so if you run into another group of people as if you can join them and people are usually up for company. When going out for a hike, please let your hosts know where you are going and when you expect to return. Please take your cell phone or you can borrow our vhf radio. ”
