“Medieval town destroyed by an earthquake in 1887. Totally abandoned for decades, it began to be inhabited from the late fifties of the twentieth century by Italian and foreign artists, attracted by the peculiarity of the place, which restored and made the less damaged buildings habitable again. It currently houses an international community of artists, with craft shops and some refreshment points, so much so as to have become, over the years, a characteristic "village of artists" in a setting of a medieval village.”

“It is one of the most characteristic forts of the entire defensive walls of Genoa. It was built in 1758 right on the summit of Mount Diamante, about 667 meters high. The dominant position of the Polcevera Valley and the Bisagno Valley and the distance from the city centre made the Fort the first defensive bulwark of the city against the incursions coming from the North.”
