No tenemos wifi.
  • We did not want to leave! The road was rough to get to the village but well worth the slow pace. We were thrilled when we got there to see our little slice of self sustainable living. The views, the animals, the people, the trails. Lovely. Inspirational.

  • Dan was a welcoming host. Unfortunately we had to get going on our own adventure but the property was unique and offered an equal experience.

  • If you want to experience a little magic in a beautiful setting, with lots of room to explore and a lovely space to relax- look no further! Jane and Dan were excellent hosts who were very accommodating and helpful. Great communication, clear directions to their home, and even helped us out with transportation when I feared my car wouldn't get over their bridge. They've built a enchanting space on their land, and if you get the chance to experience it, I wouldn't pass it up. Only spent one night, but hoping to revisit someday in the future! For my first Air BnB experience, they've set a high bar. Many thanks!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Jane & Dan's amazing mountain village. It was exactly as described and a wonderful getaway. I wanted to go camping but this was better because it was the end of October and getting very chilly at night by then. The leaves on the trees were a beautiful yellow color and hiking on the roads was such a treat, especially because all 3 dogs came along. Jane & Dan were friendly & relaxed. The deck in the garden was awesome for soaking up the sun and it was a special treat feeding the goats. We really look forward to visiting again.

  • Amazing! It was perfect to the description, Nick was a great host and provided detailed directions days prior to my arrival to make sure I had accurate information. The cabin also had a good amount of information about things to do in the surrounding areas which was nice to have.

  • This place is amazing. Incredibly inspiring. Beautiful views. Beautiful hikes. Wonderful people. Adorable, simple, cozy huts; that smell of delicious trees on the inside. The A Frame we stayed in had no lights, only candles and it's EXACTLY what we wanted. The goats were so fun to pet and listen to, and chickens are always fun to watch. I loved the composting toilet and bidet to keep the cycle complete! Amazing use of space and so aesthetically pleasing. A whimsical labyrinth of garden beds and even a hobbit home. A breathtaking place and I am in love. Thank you so much for sharing that with us, we will be back. ❤️

    Lauren2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • We got to the A-frame when it was already dark. It was a bit challenging but the directions were on point so we didn't get lost. The drive may be nerve- wracking for some if driving at night so I recommend getting to the village during the day (otherwise, you might feel like you're starring in "Blair Witch Project":)). There is no electricity once you get there so trust me on that one (no GPS, no phone signal - it is a plus actually:). I had no problems with a muddy, scary drive, with bugs in the house, composting toilet, with animals making noises at night right outside of the hut. The description is detailed when it comes to that. After all it is in the middle of the woods, very rustic. However, once we got inside, it turned out someone had slept on the bed (it wasn't made). I took the blanket off just to discover stained, dirty sheets. It was disgusting. We had brought our sleeping bag - otherwise we would have slept in the car. The area is GORGEOUS!! It is so quiet and secluded. Trees, foggy mornings, nature, stars at night - everything is beautiful. The dogs seemed so so so friendly. We scratched them behind their ears and gave some belly rubs - they loved it. The rooster will probably wake you up early in the morning (i loved it!!). All was great but the place just seems dirty (again, I understand there are bugs and dust etc). The pictures of the house from airbnb look much better than it is in reality. I would recommend this place if you want to have a cool experience if the place was cleaner.

  • This was by far the best Airbnb experience we've ever had. Liz and James are amazing hosts and go far above and beyond what is expected. The breakfast was divine. We ordered lunch packs for our day in Yosemite and it was the best decision ever!! We ordered lunch packs for the next day we would be on the road to our next destination and loved it all just as much as the previous day. The room is beautifully decorated and the bathroom spacious (2 basins). We used the barbecue both nights as the weather and veranda were great. I wish I could give this listing 7 stars!!

  • The Ten Bear cabin was our escape from reality. Thanks to Nena and Max for creating and sharing this sanctuary. The cabin was very comfortable and well equipped to handle our group of 4. Brian, their caretaker was gracious enough to guide us to the local hangouts, lookouts and crystal clear creeks. We cooked amazing meals using the veggies from the garden, learned a lot about Somes Bar from the collection of books, made some barbeque, made new four legged friends and took in the slower pace of things wanting for more. Looking forward to come back soon !!

  • Max and Nena's cabin was perfect! It is very private, cozy and well stocked with all of the essentials and more! They were lovely hosts, and gave amazing recommendations for swimming holes and hiking trails. The area is perfect for anyone looking for a quiet nature retreat. This has been our favorite AirBnb so far and would highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy the amazing national park :)

  • Amazing, magical, breathtaking getaway.

    Rebecca2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Ten Bear Cabin! So much natural beauty in this area, wish we had more time to explore. Max and Nena were very helpful and generous, really great hosts.

  • I have been travelling to Somes Bar several times a year for three years, and I stay at the Ten Bear Cabin whenever I can. It is clean, quiet and Max and Nena are wonderful hosts. In summer there is plenty of shade and in winter the wood stove keeps the place cozy and warm.

    Mary2016-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the cabin...I would recommend it to anyone looking for a neat and quite retreat. Nena and Max were very accommodating and great hosts.

  • I would highly recommend staying at this cabin. Everything was homey and clean. We only got to stay for a night but really enjoyed the property, seclusion, and their company! Nena and Max were extremely personable and sweet. We wish we had more time to enjoy the area! Oh, and Nena left us two handmade truffle chocolates which were delicious! It was a nice perk.

    Liz2017-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful time at the cabin and the surrounding areas. The cabin is cozy and well supplied. It's heated by wood stove but we were never cold (we stayed in springtime). The cabin is immersed in nature and is perfect for getting away from it all. A few miles from the nearest small town/store/phone signal.

No tenemos wifi. • Dan's mountain village is not only beautiful but a true work of art. His craftsmanship is awesome and mind blowing. My husband and I stayed here for a night on our way from the Redwoods to Portland on our honeymoon. We rented the Lodge but didn't realize how huge of a space it was! It has 4 beds and 3 floors just for the 2 of us! Checking in was a little confusing, especially because our Ford Fiesta rental car was not capable of getting up the crazy hill to the Lodge. After trying to walk up the long hill we ran into Dan who helped us get settled in. Unfortunately, by the time we got settled, it was dark and the lights in the Lodge didn't work which made for a pretty creepy night, especially since there were voodoo dolls used as decoration in the house. There is also a cat that lives in the Lodge. Which was not a welcome surprise since I'm allergic to cats. The cat also jumped around the house all night making noises, further creeping us out as we were trying to sleep! The house was really beautiful in the morning light, but my husband and I were ready to go! We just were not prepared for just how rustic this BnB was! We stayed in BnBs for our whole honeymoon- we aren't divas!-

    Kelly2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was very interesting! We were warned about the hike up to the lodge and I took it lightly which was a mistake haha we hiked our cooler 1/3 of a mile up a steep hill! All that aside the lodge was very rustic and unique. Keep an open mind. It is really cool Dan built that! Dan was a very friendly person and gave us some very helpful tips on where to visit and the places he mentioned were beautiful! I would love to come back some day and stay in the tree house

    Rachael2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place with friendly villagers, goats, hens, cats and dogs in a beautiful natural setting. It would be fun to try for a longer stay. This is a VERY remote location! Be sure you're prepared to drive on narrow gravel roads up the mountain. 4-wheel drive is not required unless staying at the lodge. Our problem was that we didn't know we needed to stay at the lodge in order to accommodate the four of us until after booking, So we had to have Kim bring us up in her 4 wheel drive Jeep. She was very helpful, but timing and communication was definitely a challenge. Be prepared for a rustic bathroom --Dan makes this very clear in his description. All that being said, this is an amazing place I hope all goes well for the village!

    Melody2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • The photos are NOT up to date. The interior looks nothing like its advertised. It's very untidy. Not necessarily dirty, but very cluttered with various strange items, including several voodoo dolls!! I don't have anything negative to say about Dan or anyone else that we met while there. Everyone was very nice. But the place was in such disarray, that my wife and I didn't even stay. We left after only ten minutes in the lodge. If you wish to stay with Dan at the Village, stay in any of their other units. Not the lodge!!!

    Derrick2017-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • My second time staying here and strongly recommend to those heading out in Jedediah Smith State Park. Dan (and Co.) has (have) done a phenomenal job in putting it together. Supporting their permaculture mission is in and of itself worthwhile, but the beautiful scenery and well constructed village make it all the more so. Thank you for letting us share this experience!

    Sean2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is nasty! Dirty, hot, smelly, and it feels like a junk yard inside and out, I was so freaked out by it, that we did not stay and drove another hour to find a hotel! Faint of heart shouldn't venture here!

    Jill2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic for sure. We made it there in a Ford Mustang but recommend something with four wheel drive. The place was great as was the house cat who welcomed us. Bring flashlights, you will need them.

    David2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • The stay was great! It was exactly as we expected it to be and perfect. There is a bit of electricity that allows for light at night as long as you don't go around leaving lights on during the day. The house comes equipped with 3 loving pups who spent time with us during our dinners in the house. Definitely recommend AWD or 4WD to get all the way up to the house as it would definitely not be possible to get all the way to the door in a regular car and the walk is kind of a distance. We brought a cooler to keep what food we wanted which was fine for what we wanted and needed. The place was honestly awesome and such a different experience (ie no flushing toilet!) I loved it and so did my boyfriend. The home was unlocked and clean. When we were there, no extra projects or constructions in the house. There is so much character to the home as well. Lots of people who have visited had left wine bottles or beer bottles-- we also contributed. Would definitely stay here again!

  • This was a definite "must stay"!!! Very unusual place, as you would expect an "off-grid" to be. Very nice people, and a great little cabin, in the most wonderful setting you have ever seen. Plus, we saw a black bear!

  • We had the best time here! After driving up the coast from the Bay Area, and trundling down a winding dirt road, we ran in to two friendly dudes in a Prius. It was our hosts Nick and Rob coming down the mountain to check on our safe arrival. Maitreya Mountain Village is situated in a beautiful valley, covered in thick forest and streams, with several cabins dispersed throughout and two communal hubs. Although we thought we would just be chilling in our cabin, we ended up spending most of our time hanging out with Nick and Rob, having good conversation, eating food and drinking wine. After retiring to our cabin, we fell asleep to the sound of the wind and the crackling fireplace. The following morning, we had breakfast (Rob made us coffee) and then went hiking into the woods, up a trail leading from the cabin. Regretfully, we only spent one night here - but we will definitely go back next time we're in California. Nick and Rob were both super cool, funny and chilled out dudes, who made for excellent company. Also, be sure to check out the Community Centre which has amazing architecture.

    Camryn2015-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a cool spot! The woodburning stove was our favorite, and kept us nice and toasty during our rainy-weather stay. Nick and the other guests were all very open and welcoming. Thanks!

  • We arrived later than planned - after dark - but Jane met us at the driveway with a flashlight and was helpful in directing us to our hut. Was a tight squeeze but it helped us stay plenty warm in our sleeping bags, we made oatmeal in the kitchen for breakfast, was a fun quick adventure. Would have loved to check out the village more and talk more with the hosts but we had to get back on the road. Thanks for the stay! Cool thing you have going on!

    Connie2014-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • I think the trip to the driveway(that doesn't have an address) was underestimated. Definitely don't travel there after dark! My concern was traveling with my son, to a location without an actual address, with no cell service for quite some time and away from civilization. There's a gate as you enter the driveway that could easily be shut behind you. I might be paranoid but you just never know these (URL HIDDEN) I turned around and went back down the mountain.

    Erin2015-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at the Half-moon cabin in the "mountain village" was a whole new experience for us. The nature around the camp is super nice and everything looks just like in the pictures. People were very friendly and helped us when we needed it. The only hard thing was the driveway. Because we had a rental car, we were a little bit scared to drive it all the way up but we made it and enjoyed our quiet stay in the nature. Our cabin was pretty small but we fit. Only thing I would change are the mattresses, which were too soft but otherwise we had a great time.

  • Wow what a cool place. Communal living and good vibes. Very remote and lovely space.

  • Our stay in the Half Moon cabin was perfect - everything and more that we had hoped for! The drive in was definitely an adventure, but well worth the trek. Definitely the most beautiful, unique, and relaxing place we stayed at on our west coast travels. Cooking in the outdoor kitchen, getting to know Dan, Jane, and Nick, and appreciating the beautiful wood and tile work of the structures were all highlights. It was the perfect combination of a rustic getaway while still having access to basic necessities like hot water and filtered drinking water.

Approximately 260 sq ft, earth sheltered structure within our permaculture-based, sustainable, off-grid village. It is one of a kind in architecture and theme with colored bottles built into the wall, stained glass windows, center tree pillar with atrium windows above, and medieval Celtic Cross above the Hobbit Hole (outside and atop) give it a Hobbit Church feel.
There is a wood stove inside next to the tempurpedic, round, Hobbit Love Nest Bed. Breakfast nook has a Hobbit mushroom table and there is a comfy sky chair suspended for luxuriating. This is a primitive cabin (without water or electricity). Common facilities (kitchen and bath) being shared with the larger community, about 200 yds away. Built into the side of a mountain with a seasonal spring (there are springs everywhere here in the mountainous rain forest) that runs through the house -- on purpose -- so there is the sound of a babbling brook in the HH November thru May. If you are looking for a unique experience in a beautiful natural area and would like to experience life in an off-grid, sustainable, permaculture-focused ecovillage - and all the rough roads, dirt, mud, insects, messes, barking dogs, mosquitos, bees, mice, early morning roosters, communal living, composting toilets, ongoing construction projects in remote wilderness - then we invite you join us in our mountain village! Our property encompasses 160 acres of pristine natural wilderness in Northern California's beautiful Smith River canyon - home of the only un-dammed river in the state. Lush fern-encrusted hillsides slope down to countless spring-fed streams, teeming with wildlife, from cute caterpillars to (also cute, sometimes!) black bears. Accessible only by forestry road from scenic Redwoon Hwy (CA-199,) this is an opportunity to experience our responsible natural relationship with Mother Earth. This location is very beautiful and quite remote, so please be sure you've read through the full description and are prepared for certain elements of "roughing it" and adventure travel. The Village is also a work-in-progress so we are likely to be working and there may be construction, dirt, and messes around! Amenities: •Lighting / Electricity: Your cabin does not have electricity; we try to keep a flashlight, lantern, and/or candle available for your use -- but we recommend that you bring your own lights. •Kitchen: The outdoor kitchen, near your cabin, has a small propane camping stove, and plenty of pots, pans, and utensils for your use. We do not have refrigeration but we do have a freezer (with ice packs) and coolers for storing food. •Bathrooms: We use composting toilets (buckets with seats); there is an indoor toilet in the bathhouse. Hot shower in the sauna/bathhouse. It is about 200 yds on average away from most of our cabins •(Lack of) Phone / Internet: Some Verizon and US Cellular service is available, but AT&T and T-Mobile do not service our area. We do not have wifi. The Great Outdoors: •Domestic animals: Between the three dogs who run around at night chasing forest creatures, springtime frog concerts, and the early-rising chickens, it is likely that there will be some animal noises occurring at unpredictable moments during the night and day. •Wild animals: There are various of these that live in the forest, including skunks, chipmunks, foxes, black bears, and many birds and insects. Since we have dogs and people around, the wild animals tend to keep their distance from the areas that we use. If you are lucky, you might spot a black bear on a hike; they are basically like big raccoons and prefer to run away from humans. If you are looking for a unique experience and up for rustic accommodations with a few off-grid perks, we welcome you to join us in our mountain paradise!
Our 160-acre property is surrounded by about a million acres of National Forest. Our neighborhood is all made of trees, huckleberry bushes and animals. We love it here. It is very remote, peaceful, and functionally sustainable in its focus. The closest neighbor is a Buddhist Hermitage about a mile up the forestry road. Also, supposedly, Sasquatch live here! (it is the epicenter for documented sightings) Most visitors to the area are interested in spending time in the redwoods – we are about 30-45 minutes from the nearest entrance to Jedediah Smith Park, home of Stout Grove and other beautiful redwood hikes. Driving into Crescent City, about 45-60 minutes, winds you right through the "gentle giants" on your way to or from Redwood National Park.
  • The hobbit house is magical, as is the whole property. It is quite an adventure just to drive out to. The ecovillage here is a work of art, with beautiful mosaics and natural scenery to match. Very friendly hosts and fellow visitors!

  • Follow the directions in the hosts welcome letter! Don't bother with GPS. It's useless. Bring plenty of snacks and supplies since it's 30 minutes to the nearest town

  • Quiet and peaceful. Dan and his neighbors are gracious, helpful and kind. Please do arrive before sundown! Thanks for everything,Dan!

  • Let me start off by saying, the place is amazing! Exactly like it says.... it is off the grid, no cell service, nothing fancy about it, it's not glamping and even may be more difficult than camping for people who haven't went dispersed camping before and like the KOA's. Haha it was all I was hoping for and more. If you follow the directions Dan gives you, and actually pay attention, your good. It's not like a hotel where you check in, it's pretty laid back and do it yourself. I loved it. I did have trouble finding where I can set up my tent bc it wasn't very clear but it didn't take long to find one of the workers to help. I really enjoyed my stay, and my dog Bentley loved it as well. Thank you so much Dan!

    Jennifer2017-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my boyfriend had an amazing stay here! Any LOTR fans will absolutely love it!!

    Malorie2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • This land was amazing! The moon rising over the mountains, the incredible dwellings (we stayed in the Hobbit Hole), the community kitchen and hang out area, the serene setting. We will definitely recommend this place to our friends and hope to make this an annual getaway.

    Amanda & David2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Hobbit Home, looked like it fell out of a movie. We were left speechless and felt like little kids staying in this place. The property is breath taking-but I cannot stress enough DON'T try to check in after dark. It is difficult to see, you will not have service and town in awhile away. would definatley stay here again. It's our favorite place to tell friends and family we stayed. Pictures don't even do it justice how cool it is.

    Liz2017-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Truly an enchanting place to stay. The Hobbit house is incredible and the nature setting and community at the village can't be beat. Looking forward to another visit soon.

No tenemos wifi.
  • We loved staying in the Tree House- an experience we'll never forget. I hope we can return some day and see the progress of the property!

  • We very much enjoyed our stay on Dan's farm. Staying in a treehouse was a unique, fun experience, and we enjoyed walking the trails on Dan's land. Dan's directions were also very clear and extremely helpful in finding and navigating the farm.

    Jon2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Dan is a forward thinking man who has crafted a wonderful haven with the help of visitors up in the temperate rainforest. Loved the treehouse!

  • Location was accurate and the driving directions were extremely helpful!

  • I loved my experience at the Treehouse! Dan has created a beautiful community! The directions to get there were easy to follow, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming!

    Genevieve2016-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Dan's intentional community and endeavour is encouraging to see in the world today. You can see how much heart he has poured into this place. The structures and way of life he has created are really beautiful. Do bring a flashlight! And a light of some kind like a lantern for nightime inside the treehouse. It is as rustic as he says it is - a great adventure. Also, try not to drive there in the dark like we did! It is a long drive along a bumpy curvy logging road about an hour from Crescent City. GPS will take you as far as Patrick's Creek Lodge. Definitely worth seeing an alternative way of life - feels so much more human and in balance than how most of the rest of us live.

    Cielia2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a cool laid back place! We definitely could have spent more time there just enjoying the village. Hopefully I will get to come back some day and see the progress. The tree house was great; very comfortable and peaceful.

No permitimos a NO intrusos.

  • Don's place is 9 minutes from downtown Cave Junction, OR. The property has 3 very funny horses who know how to wheedle treats from visitors. The home is comfortably appointed, and our family of 4 had room to spread out and room to hang out together and watch DVDs of Star Trek TNG at night with popcorn after a day of hiking. There is a window AC unit in the master bedroom, but only fans for the rest of the house, so if you loathe being warm that might be a deal breaker for you in the summer. We were fine with it. The house rules are very prominently posted and reasonable. The place is rural, so expect bugs.

    Joy2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is good for those wanting to explore the local Southern Oregon/ Northern California area. There is plenty of room and the host is very communicative. My groups major problem was the cleanliness, especially in the kitchen area.

    Abraham2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This house was great for our family of six. Don was there to meet us even though it was late. This was the quintessential Cave Junction get away, right down to the friendly horses. Don had a chilled bottle of wine in the fridge and other drinks ready to greet us. All around great experience.

  • We arrived late but Don was right there and met us at the gate. He introduced us to the home and horses (Jim, Sam, Feathers). Our puppy had a great time exploring the property. Don and Carolina had provided Dog Treats as well as stocked the fridge with Beers, aWine, Fruit. The Kruig coffee maker was perfect with the large mugs. There were ample books (the humans of New York was one that I enjoyed) and video. Given that the reception was spotty, my daughter enjoyed the unplugged time with drawing, reading. Thanks Don and Carolina. It was a great stop for us on our long drive.

Whether you are coming to enjoy the outdoor activities the Applegate has to offer or just to relax, this amazing home is the place. 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, spacious living area with large windows for scenic views. Government land behind with trails for biking or hiking. Home offers two comfortable beds, full kitchen and dining table. Two decks small in back and large in front. Enjoy your morning coffee or dinner alfresco.
You are only approx. 5 miles from Applegate Lake for fishing, boating ( no wake lake) or kayaking. There are several areas for picnicking and swimming. If you are looking for a more sophisticated entertainment there are several vineyards near by as well. There are places that give tours, so no need to worry about driving. It is 15 minutes to the town of Ruch where there is a market, churches, a couple of restaurants and even a hardware store, because you never know what you may need. You will leave feeling refreshed.
  • The cabin was very nice and peaceful. Some things to know: know how to stream from your computer to the roku tv. I couldnt get any music other than my small labtop since i didnt know how to stream it. Deanna was very helpful and even until late at night getting a code so i could download free utube channel. That was very helpful. No hair dryer, so pack your own. We loved our stay otherwise.

  • All I can say is "WOW" this home was a dream! Secluded in the woods, this cozy cabin makes you stop and enjoy nature. Trees, trees everywhere! We even saw deer, so beautiful, we were able to rest in comfort. The home was clean and well equipped, my Son and I even baked a Father's Day Cake! The backyard was really cute as well, I was able to watch my Son play while I cooked. Hubby enjoyed taking nature walks around the property. The host Deanna, was a real pleasure to work with. She was very responsive, professional, and "nice". She truly cared for our every need, to make sure our stay was "excellent" Thank You Deanna! I highly recommend this home, a true nature get away!

  • This was an amazing place to stay. I felt incredibly safe and comfortable. There were many other campers nearby but most were in RVs or trailers, which left the majority of the tent-site area to myself. A small body of water was just a few hundred feet from my site, bathrooms were not far, and the hosts were fantastic. Given the limited campers on the tent-grounds, they were happy to let me move around if I wanted a different spot. The area was quiet, people were respectful. There were trees to hang my hammock and read, a grill for cooking, and a picnic table at every site. I had a place in town I could have stayed, but I am SO happy I stayed the night here. It was awesome! Thanks Glenn!

    Melissa2015-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • This campsite was great. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. We were greeted promptly upon arrival and check-in was smooth and quick. The site itself was beautiful and quiet, and the tent sites are spaced out nicely to allow for privacy. We would definitely stay here again.

  • This was probably the cleanest, nicest campground I've ever stayed in! It's right off the highway but still quiet, beautiful, private setting in the trees. I was right by the creek in a huge site surrounded by trees so I couldn't see the other people in the tent camping area. The bathroom is very nice and clean, the shower was fantastic. I 100% recommend this place!

  • The swimming hole was really popular with the kids, no doubt about it. The park itself was great with everything you need for a smooth campout. The convenience store within walking distance had everything a traveler could ask for. We easily made day trips to Crater Lake, the Redwood Forests, and Bandon from here.

  • We had such a pleasant stay at this gorgeous site! We greatly appreciated that we were able to arrive at 9.30, which was later than usual. The water nearby was beautiful and we even took a dip the next morning. Thank you for the hospitality.

  • We had 2 wonderful days staying at the Tipi! Great experience, beautiful campsite and really friendly people. I wish we had more days! The camping is very well organized and is very clean. I totally recommend it!

  • This was probably the highlight of our 11 day camping trip through California and Oregon! The tipi was beautiful and well kept. Although it is in the back of an RV park, you had plenty of space between sites..much more than most other campgrounds. There were chairs around an organic fire pit, which was a nice change from the big metal pits we were getting used to seeing at other sites. There was also a charcoal grill for cooking. One thing to note: it can be very dry and hot in this area and when the fire hazard is high, you are unable to have a camp fire per the fire department rules. Also the showers are coin operated but well worth it as they are kept very clean and tidy!

  • I will definitely go again!! Great location, close to a lot of trailheads and activities. It's close enough to town that forgetting anything isn't an issue but far enough that it's still an escape from the city. Very well kept facility, super nice folks and a unique experience!

  • This was my second stay at the Lone Mountain RV Park so we knew it would be great. We had an awesome stay at the Ceremonial Tipi! Bathrooms were clean, the campsite was clean and the Tipi was AWESOME!! Glenn is very prompt in his replies when we were booking and very helpful with information about the area! We will be back again soon!

    Amanda2013-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Glenn was extremely open and communicative. He made the reservation very convenient and made suggestions which helped improve the quality of our stay!! Our tipi was clean and spacious and my kids said it was one of the highlights of our trip!!

    Renee2013-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome experience! The camp was clean and even had chairs. The splash pond was a very nice place to cool off. I didn't meet Glenn but the caretakers were welcoming and informative.

    Mary2015-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time. Glenn came by and gave us a little history of the land and was willing to help in anyway. The bathroom and the Tipi were both very clean. Don't forget to bring some firewood, but there is a local store in walking distances that sells everything.

    Calvin2013-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the tipi. The campground was very nice and the bathrooms were really clean. Glen was very responsive to any questions we had, responding to messages very quickly. The only problem we had was that we had originally rented the large tipi, but when we arrived, found someone else was already in it. We messaged Glen and he refunded the difference. We had a great stay and would definitely come back.

    georgiana2013-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Glenn's 22' ceremonial tipi was awesome. We really enjoyed the structure and the park where it's located was friendly and well-kept. Our only complaint was that we were led to believe the tipis had hearths where we could burn a fire to keep warm. The gas heater was cozy but lacked light, an essential element that we sorely missed in the winter months of the Pacific Northwest. Our headlamps and flashlights were a bit lackluster for the epic experience of spending a winter night in a tipii. I think if we were prepared with candles and a pocket stove for heating water and cooking a warm meal, we would've been set! Next time... :) The futons were cozy and the structure was absolutely beautiful inside.

    Jillian2013-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in the tipi. Glenn was very accommodating and helpful even though we arrived later than expected. The beds were very comfortable and we all woke up feeling fresh. I highly recommend a stay at this unique place.

    sander2015-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • We weren't sure exactly what to expect when we arrived at an RV park to spend the night in a teepee. The caretaker is a warm and friendly guy. He gave us excellent suggestions a local restaurant and was spot-on. Best Mexican food ever. The teepee, itself, was beautiful with paintings of buffalo on the outside and running deer on the inside. The inside was also decorated with various Indian themed art and animal skins. The way that the property is set up the teepees and 10th area or in the back of the RV Park. But they are in beautiful secluded, forested lots. Instead of feeling like you're in an RV park, you actually feel more like you're in a state park. There were a few other campers but we didn't really hear them. We did make use of the cool and peaceful swimming hole, which is fed from a nearby River so the water is clean and crystal clear. The walk from the tent area to the main bathroom is a bit of a hike, so there are some porta potties which are conveniently located near the watering hole. Not thrilled about porta potties in general, but definitely useful. Sleeping on the two futon type beds was comfortable and listening to the sounds of nature, priceless. We would absolutely go back to this campground and we certainly would recommend a teepee. My daughters and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The Cabin is clean, cozy and very private. It's surrounded by woods and has a very large wrap around deck. The Cabin will accommodate up to six people. The living room offers a queen size sleeper sofa. It has a 46" flat screen TV with a DVD/VHS player and Dish TV with Sirius radio. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. A full size kitchen and a cozy wood stove... we supply the wood! There is no Wi-fi at The Cabin. It is offered two miles down the road at a little restaurant called She She's.
Surrounded by the beauty of California's northern forests, and the sounds of Smith River echoing through the landscape (during winter) this cabin is the perfect getaway to nature and seclusion. Inside is a smoke free environment and pets are considered. Up to six happy guests can be accommodated here on almost an acre of land, with a pond, and completely fenced for your privacy. Offering two bedrooms, one with a king-sized bed and a 39" flat screen TV, and the other with a twin-over-queen bunk bed set (top bed has a 150 pound weight limit). The living room also boasts a queen-sized sleeper sofa, and there are additionally two bathrooms. The living room is a great spot in which to unwind, with a large flat-screen television with DVD/VHS player and comfy seating. A range of books, games, DVDs/VHS and Sirius radio are provided for entertainment. A fully-equipped kitchen (no dishwasher) allows guests to self-cater in style, with complimentary gourmet coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Outside, a spacious wrap-around deck is the perfect place to gaze over the forests full of local flora, with an outdoor grill for alfresco dining and cooking. The host provides many pantry items such as olive oil and spices. Air conditioning and heating are featured throughout the cabin, which, along with a wood-burning stove, will keep things cozy in every season. And we supply the wood! A washing machine and dryer will make even longer stays comfortable, and guests will also have access to a two car garage. All linens and towels are provided by the host, as well as shampoo, body wash and laundry detergent. The Cabin is in a remote area so cell phone reception is variable depending on your service provider and phone. There is a land-line available. There are many times when it's foggy at the coast but it's sunny at The Cabin! It's just a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive to the pristine Smith River. It’s the largest free-flowing (no dams) river in the state, producing the largest Steelhead and Chinook salmon. Dogs considered, please tell me how many, how old and how large/small. No cats please. From The Cabin it’s just 11 miles on scenic Hwy 199 to Redwood National Park and Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park. Some of the tallest trees in the world reside here and there are many trails to explore. Drive or bike through Redwood National Park on unpaved Howland Hill Rd. There are massive Redwood trees! Like the ocean? We’re only 22 miles away as you drive through the Redwoods and Crescent City. In Crescent City there is Battery Point Lighthouse. In fact, there are many lighthouses along the coast. There is a great view from these lighthouses to do some whale watching. Gray whales migrate from December through May. You may also see Orcas and Humpback whales. Northern California and Oregon have some of the most beautiful coastlines. Yet, on those foggy coastal days, Gasquet is usually in the sunshine. Great Fishing -- Along with Steelhead and Chinook, the Smith also has runs of Silver salmon, Coho and sea-run cutthroat trout. The Chinook runs start in late August, going through late December, with its peak in November. Steelhead starts their runs in early December and goes through March, with their peak in January. The Smith River flows through some of the most beautiful scenery in California. From Six Rivers National Forest through Jedediah State Park, people say that it’s hard to decide which is better, the scenery or the fishing.
  • Nice, clean, well stocked,2bed room, fenced yard, washer and dryer, nice grill for making dinner. Bring dry kindling or use old paper egg cartons. We visited in march 20, very wet season, we didn't realize how much rain they get in march. We spent 4 days hiking and biking in the rain. Beach combing as wel in the rain. Bring rain pants and rain jackets. House is very clean and safe! Easy to find in the forest.

  • Absolutely fantastic. The cabin was clean, well-furnished, and completely relaxing. Diane has gone out of her way to provide guests with everything they will need to make the most of their trip. We live fairly close-by, and visit the Smith River / Jed Smith region quite frequently. Diane's place easily tops our list for places to stay. We will most definitely stay here again.

    Eric2017-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • My family had a great time at the house. We spent a couple of days fishing on the Smith River, and this house was in a great location as it is extremely close to the Smith, and a very reasonable drive to Jed Smith Redwoods State Park. We had a lot of fun cooking and playing games in the house and the wood stove kept us warm and cozy during the rain storms. Only precaution is to make sure everyone you are with is okay without cell (AT&T) or wifi reception while at the house.

    Kevin2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Diane's place is great! She was very helpful! We'll be back in the summer to stay here again!

  • Nice place in a great location. Nice deck to relax and short walk to the river. Highlight was the Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, well worth a day of exploring.

  • Heaven. It was a beautiful stay for us and our canine son. The yard was great and enclosed by a fence that was perfect for our 4 legged companion. The house was clean, spacious and very well appointed. We loved cooking every meal overlooking a redwood yard and when the snow fell it was truly a winter heaven.

    john2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I stayed here the first week of May 2016 and it was great! It's very close to Howland Hill Road, which was great and for trips to Jedediah Smith it's so perfectly located. Anywhere else is just a short drive. We cooked all but one of our meals there and they had everything we needed. We adore grilling so it was so, so lovely to have that grill for fresh grilled veggies and meat. The bunkbed was perfect for our 4 year old son and 20 month old daughter. The gated deck was so amazing, we just opened the doors for fresh air and let the kids play! There are neighbors, which we were not expecting, but you can just barely see them through the trees and we never heard a peep from them. Overall a great little cabin that is a great home base for a lovely vacation!

  • This cabin in the woods is the perfect place to get off the grid and relax. There is a lovely swimming hole (and waterfall) just down the river a bit. Follow the clearly marked path-then explore! You need some river shoes and a walking stick to access it safely as you have to cross the river to get there. The beds and baths were all as pictured, and the pots, pans, dishes, and kitchen utensils were convenient. We enjoyed the fire inside on the chilly mornings and had some great meals on the southern-facing deck. Jim was the perfect host! He provided firewood (and a great axe in case you want to chop some wood), some bug spray and a bug zapper, (but you may want to bring your own mosquito repellent), and all the towels and linens you would need. There was a first aid kit, and we needed to use it for removing a tick from one of our party. The mosquitos enjoyed the early evenings and would have feasted on us had we not taken precautions. The road down to the property might be a little daunting, but the end destination is well worth it. Our four-wheel drive handled it easily. We especially loved the record collection and were singing along with the Gilbert and Sullivan and the 60's music. We added a TJB album to the collection. Thanks, Jim for sharing your River Retreat with us. We hope to return some day.

  • A true slice of heaven. Jim was excellent to communicate with. Cabin and location surpassed expectations. Will return!

    Devin2017-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • We were lucky. We didn't do the normal road trip planning one typically does for a big adventure up the coast. We found this place and had some minor trouble finding the specific address, be sure you download the directions before you start driving, because the is basically no signal out here. It's a good fit minutes from town and you are of the grid and likely won't see any neighbors. People like to keep to themselves in the woods. We got in late. Edited the vehicle and could hear a torrent of water nearby, but couldn't place the location until morning. We woke up to an extraordinary view of the massive living room windows facing a river and a couple waterfalls. It was absolutely incredible. The place can sleep 13, but it was just three of us dudes enjoying a placid escape from civilisation. There is no internet. No phone. No cell service. No TV. Long may it stay that way. There is a record player, which we should have brought a stack of wax to listen to while enjoying incredible fireplace. It's quite rustic, in was chilly and we kept the fire going anytime we were at home, which turned out to be most of the time. It's hard to leave paradise. I hope the host doesn't change a thing, from the beautiful patina leather couch, pine coffee table, and brass wall sconces, to the beautiful deck and river access. This place has it all, plus access to nearby redwoods state and national parks. We made pizzas in the oven from scratch, breakfast everyday, and weighed we had bright some meet to throw on the outdoor grill. Any artist or musician would love this place and find it to be an incredible inspiration. Jim was fantastic, we spoke more than I have with any other host and certainly hope to return to his slice of heaven, a secret oasis.

    Christopher2016-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved everything about the cabin. From the record player to the bbq, it was just perfect.

    Rick2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Just an amazing spot. Its really just as simple as that. With private access to the river and the closest neighbor probably 100 yards away the seclusion was really something special. Many great amenities/surprises that were not included in the description. At any given time I saw our group taking advantage of the record player, chess set and even the small library. There is really something for everyone! Of course we were there for the hiking & the fishing and neither were lacking. I would highly recommend this to anyone that wishes to "get lost" for a week or more.

  • Dave and Debra were extremely generous and kind. They helped us find everything we needed in the home and gave us great recommendations on things to do in the area. Their cabin is a work of art with live-edge type wood everywhere. Everything in the cabin worked great for us. Both beds were clean and comfortable and even though we didn't cook much the kitchen was well equipped. We had an amazing trip and hope to return soon.

  • The cabin is a great place to stay located between Applegate Lake and Jacksonville. We thoroughly enjoyed both! The Good Bean was our favorite spot for breakfast, Quady North and Daisy Creek were great wineries to visit, and Applegate Lake was gorgeous. Dave and Deb are right next store, which may be a negative for those hoping for total privacy, but we thought they were both wonderful hosts! We appreciated being able to ask for recommendations, easy check-in/check-out, and compost/recycling!

    Richelle2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Debra and Dave's cabin near Jacksonville. It was the best equipped residence we ever had the pleasure of staying in. The kitchen had every small appliance you could ask for and Dave's collection of music was outstanding (vinyl and CD). Debra and Dave were the best hosts and steered us to the best winery in Applegate valley. They're at the top our our list of places to stay next time we're in S. Oregon.

    Jim2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • A charming well stocked cabin. Dave had the pellet stove running upon our arrival so it was toasty and warm inside. A nice treat after a long drive. We did an awesome hike the following morning starting right from the back door! The Applegate area and the town of Jacksonville is a great place to explore and relax. Many thanks Deb and Dave for being wonderful hosts.

  • We took our family of four, plus dog, to the Applegate Valley, and this is the perfect spot for a home base to explore the area! Debra and Dave are great hosts - friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The house is clean and well-appointed, and the front deck is great for dinner and playing board games after full days at Applegate Lake, or after the Hellgate Excursion jet boat on the Rogue River (a must do!). We will certainly be back, and look forward to renting with them again!

  • This is a fantastic place to stay. Debra and Dave were warm and hospitable... and were active in making sure we had all we needed, along with providing information and insight for goings on in the area. The cabin is filled with personality... A very unique and lovingly detailed space that is both quiet and comfortable... With just enough quirkiness to be fun and memorable. It is quite secluded, and is out of phone service area... But only a few miles from wineries, shops, and many great activities. Our group was there to participate in the national paragliding competition that is held there each year... The area is quite famous for the flying community. We also partook in river rafting on the Rouge River, did some wine touring, and enjoyed eating a several great restaurants located near by. The space was perfect for our group of two couples and a single. They have a bed up in the loft that would only be apropriate for younger, agile people... As it is accessed by ladder.... But it worked out great for us. We hope to be back again!

Set in the middle of beautiful Scott Valley-between Ft. Jones and Etna, CA. Cozy bedroom with queen bed next door to shared bathroom (with the bedroom next door)--opposite end of house as owner. In modern manufactured home set in quiet rural subdivision of 5 acre or larger parcels. Fenced yard. Large, amiable Doodle and a small fluffy dog live here so a friendly dog would be welcome but please not on the bedspread! Very quiet, very close to the Marble Mountains.
    Hiking roads and trails nearby.
It is a quiet neighborhood with neighbors on 5 acre and larger parcels. Hiking or walking paths are nearby.
  • Bonnies place is clean and comfortable. I was still able to join a conference call so the WiFi is definitely fast enough for the location if that was of anyones concern. Bonnie is very sweet and kind enough to share some of her breakfast with me. Great Value, Highly Recommend.

  • Bonnie was so nice I got stick in traffic and she waited up for me.

  • This is a perfectly pleasant little room and Bonnie is a pleasant, friendly host. You're out in the country down a dirt road, so that has its pluses and minuses. You have the run of the kitchen and living room, and there's good reading material.

  • Bonnie is a fantastic, kind, and hospitable host. She provided everything I needed and accommodated my delay in arrival. You won't be disappointed if you choose to stay here.

  • Bonnie's place truly is the Peace of Kidder - very quiet, private and rural. Sleeping with the windows open and only hearing the night breeze, we slept deeply and peacefully. We were sorry not to meet Bonnie, but her neighbor kindly helped us settle in and showed us around. Bonnie was always quick and clear with her communication to me before our arrival and really made it work so we could stay there even though she had to be away. Two thumbs up! :)

  • Bonnie is a nice thoughtful host. Her place is located in Scott Valley in a beautiful secluded area. She was able to accommodate us on a short notice as we were looking to stay a night during a long drive between OR and So Cal. Thank you Bonnie for having us!

  • Glenn's cabin made for a great stopping off point on a long drive to see family in California. Conveniently located right off the highway, it was easy to stop in and enjoy the comforts of Glenn's listing. My two kids were big fans of the luxury tub after 5.5 hours of driving, not mention being able to unwind with some Netflix over WiFi. I enjoyed stretching my legs, walking around the grounds and finding quiet spots to read a good book.

This is a private home on 5 acres next to other places of 5 acre and larger parcels. Very quiet and private, generally peaceful, and scenic. I have a small fenced yard to keep my dogs in and the deer and rabbits out! (I like to grow flowers.) Very close to Kidder Creek Camp and the Marble Mountains. Children need to bring their own entertainment as there is not much for them to do.
I have 2 bedrooms with 1 queen bed each. The extra bedroom would be great for families with children or close friends. There is only one bathroom (2 sinks) so it has to be shared by guests in both rooms. I do not cook for my guests but the kitchen with its stove and microwave and utensils, etc. are available to guests. I have dry cereals and almond/coconut milk available for breakfast if you like. There is some refrigerator space available also.
This is very rural. I live in a small development of about 15 properties that are 5 or more acres in size. Surrounded by much larger properties. Nice view of the Marble Mountains. There are old logging roads that can be used for hiking plus the loop I live on that is 1.7 miles.
  • This is a fabulous night in the country and adorable dogs to boot! Very clean space and comfy bedding. Although we didn't get to explore the outside area, it looked beautiful and Bonnie had a wonderful page of recommended walks, restaurants, and a good description of the house rules. Highly recommend.

    Nicole2017-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great host. Super clean. Kitchen is available to use as long as you clean up after yourself. She has two very friendly dogs and a great fenced in backyard. We brought our dog and they got along swimmingly. The room was accurate. The bed was warm and comforting. The location is ~20miles away from the I-5 so a bit far away. The valley was very foggy on our drive in at about 6:30pm. Beautiful property though. The house is warm and cozy. Will stay again if in the area!

  • Had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the area a lot. Thank you Bonnie.

  • Even tho I had reserved the Red Room, I actually the the option of choosing the Blue Room, which was a little cozier, yet still had a desk and plenty of room for me. Deck was a lovely space to relax after day's drive, and begin the morning with java provided on a small coffee table set up with everything needed to brew your own just outside the rooms. Bonnie is most flexible and accommodating. Quiet, peaceful location.

  • Bonnie's home is on a secluded acreage in the lovely Scott Valley, near the cute little town of Ft. Jones. The home is very comfortable and has a lovely garden. We stayed in a nicely decorated and comfortable room, that had the use of a nicely appointed bathroom. Bonnie was kind enough to welcome us into her kitchen and living room, and gave directions to some good local restaurants and a lovely drive and flower walk at Kangaroo lake in the mountains at 7000 feet, about 45 minutes away. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Harry2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Bonnie's place is a great value! And the surroundings are heavenly. I found the bed to be very, very comfortable. Bonnie is kind, mellow, and personable. She keeps a good balance between being friendly and giving guests space. I also liked that Bonnie is very clear about what she is offering her guests and what to do if your needs exceed her limits. For example, she invites you to have one soda on the house, and if you want more, you just need to compensate her for the cost of the additional sodas. We fell in love with her sweet dogs. Thank you, Bonnie, for your hospitality!

    Jennifer2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • First, thanks for hosting us like family members, thanks for waiting us to arrive until 2:30am, we thought we were not allowed to come in because it was too late, we thought we had to live in our car at that night, but you waited us until then, thanks a lot, we appreciate it, we will remember you in our whole life!!!

    Shawn2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Bonnie is a warm and kind host. The setting of her place feels remote but incredibly safe. Her house is surrounded by a beautiful garden that she tends. She and her two dogs welcome you into their sanctuary like family.

  • Tami was a very gracious host and her place was nice. She was very accommodating and even provided water bottles and snacks. The place was clean and very quiet. The city itself is small and didn't have a lot of options in terms of dining. Also the upstairs cot requires you to crawl into bed because it's so close to the ceiling, but that wasn't a problem for us because we slept in the downstairs couch/futon.

    Haseeb2015-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Tami was so accommodating and nice! She really made me feel welcome. The review was accurate; the cabin is quaint and adorable, perfect for a good rest after exploring the nearby Oregon Caves. Tami was flexible with my late arrival time, and even gave me detailed instructions on how to find the rental. I recommend this spot!

  • Our host was very accommodating and kind. The listing was accurately described and was what we expected. The neighborhood was easily accessible to Grants Pass and easy to find.

  • Although we didn't get the chance to meet Tami in person she was an excellent communicator and always quick to respond to any questions/needs. We really appreciated her cozy space and flexibility with everything.

  • We enjoyed being guests in Tami's Cabin in Cave Junction. It was an ideal overnight for our road trip. The covered parking right outside the door was very convenient for unloading and loading. The cabin is well appointed, cozy, and comfortable. The kitchen set up is well done and the bath is spacious. It's only a few blocks to several restaurants and the grocery store is nearby. Tami was excellent with communication and responses. It was quiet and peaceful to be there. We would stay again.

    Wayne2016-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • A charming, cozy cabin tucked away on a hill. Still in the middle of Cave Junction and close to many attractions in the area. My host, Tami, was very accommodating and welcoming. Every area was clean and orderly. I felt very much at home while I was in town visiting family.

    Scott2016-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Communication with Tami was quick, clear and easy. There was a glitch with the AirBnB site during the reservation process, but Tami provided a fix for me to get both nights that I wanted. It is a very nice location--easy to find and near restaurants and local attractions. Try the Bridgeville Winery--friendly service, lovely wines, pretty location. The road to the Oregon Caves is just a few blocks away. The cabin is small, but it feels much bigger than it is. It is well designed and exactly as depicted in the pictures. The space was very clean, and we had what we needed for cooking simple meals. The loft was spacious and comfortable-- you can't stand up, but you won't hit your head sitting up in bed. Spacious bathroom with roomy shower, fluffy towels and basic needs of soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. I would definitely recommend this place for a couple, and I'll stay here again when I'm in the area.

  • Convenient location if you're visiting the area. Nice little apartment, not a very comfortable sleep, however. It's a tight space to sleep in and can be hot.

Communication with Wolf was very easy. He answer my call and all my questions - no problem! Here's what Jorge had to say: "Muy bien! Wolf es muy amable y la propiedad es muy bonito."

The bathroom had everything that we needed. The area was very quiet. We would definitely visit again.

  • The lodge at Captain Drakes was a serene place to land after a long drive up to Oregon, and the pictures capture the place acurately. Although a bit off the path, it was an easy road to travel from the main highway up to their perch in the mountains. Our host was relaxed and welcoming, we felt immediately at ease. The views were gorgeous, we had full use of the kitchen, ate on the deck overlooking the mountains and slept deeply in our comfortable bed. I would love to come back and explore the rivers and caves of the region a bit more and would definitely stay here again!

    Maureen2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Wolf & Dhonne are always the most generous and gracious hosts anyone could ask for, and the lodge is beautifully built in a picturesque forest setting with a spectacular view. The rooms are comfy and clean, and we slept very nicely. For anyone wanting to check out the absolute thrill of flying and would love a great place and people to stay with throughout your aerial adventure, or just need a great B & B to stay at and meet awesome people, Wolf & Dhonne at Captain Drakes is the way to go!!!

  • Wolf was a great host, him and his family were extremely welcoming. I really wish we had stayed longer than one night. We were invited to have dinner the family, it was great to share stories with them over a nice home cooked dinner. The B&B is an secluded area with beautiful views from every window, and is a very clean and comfortable place.

  • Had a minor hiccup with booking. Listing had the 'instant-book' option even though host did not intend for it to be so. Was given this room instead - https://www.airbnb.com.sg/rooms/2721504. No issue for me as a solo traveller. Nevertheless, very inviting host with great facilities, great place to meet interesting fellow travellers and Captain Drake's flying students. Located right off the 199 Redwood Highway, just minutes from town we welcome you to our forest sanctuary. The land holds a gorgeous five bedroom mid century modern home built in 1962. Cedar Song Sanctuary sits along a mile of the Illinois River. We have several swimming holes throughout the land. We are surrounded by beautiful scenery in all directions! We are close to the Redwoods, The Oregon Caves and much more. Major cities close by: Grants Pass, Medford, Crescent City & Ashland.
MORE ABOUT CEDARSONG... Cedar Song was purchased in the spring of 2017 by Spirit Weavers Gathering as a place of peace and healing, for all walks of life. Spirit Weavers is an annual womens gathering which happens once a year each June. We host over 1,000 women in just two weeks on the land. We are located on the Illinois River just outside Cave Junction, Oregon. The town is just a 5 minute drive from the land so everything is very accessible. Our Main House was built in 1962 and retains the flavor of the 60’s with a beautiful Mid Century Modern feel. It houses a kitchen, dining hall, a living room, five bedrooms and three bathroom with a bathtub. The river overlook land is located right on top of the Illinois river with a 1 minute walk down to our own private riverside beach and swimming. There is just a 3 minute walk to the lands prestine swimming hole. Cell phone service works great if you have AT&T or Verizon. We have several giant meadows with thousands of trees surrounding. We are right on the Illinois River with a mile of river frontage and 3 incredible swim spots. It's a great place to come and recharge and renew. FIRST NATIONS PEOPLE OF THE ILLINOIS VALLEY For thousands of years, the Takelma people lived in the Illinois and Rogue River valleys, what is now known as Josephine County. They lived in small bands close to the land. Interior southwest Oregon has pronounced seasons and the ancient Takelma adapted to these seasons by spending spring, summer and early fall months collecting and storing food for the winter season. Salmon was central to their food source and way of life. The salmon diet was supplemented by game, such as deer, elk, beaver, bear, antelope and bighorn sheep. Smaller mammals, such as squirrels, rabbits and gophers, might have been snared by both men and women. They gathered the root of the Camas plant, part of the asparagus family, as well as acorns from the two native species of Oaks, the Oregon white oak and California black oak. Other vegetation included manzanita berries, pine nuts, tarweed seeds, wild plums and sunflowers. The Takelma are also known to have cultivated a native tobacco plant, but otherwise relied on the fruits of the wilderness for their survival. The main utensils included horn, bone and wood-made implements and a great variety of baskets constructed generally by twining on a hazel warp. Stone was used in the making of arrowheads and pestles. The clothing and personal adornment of the Takelma was similar to the tribes of northern California. Notable characteristics include facial painting, red-headed woodpecker scalps for men and basket caps for women. The women also tattooed the skin in three stripes and men tattooed the left arm. European Settlement of the Illinois Valley began by the 1830’s, as the gold and logging industries developed. By the end of 1856, the traditional residents of the Rogue and Illinois River valleys were forcibly removed and relocated to the Siletz Reservation on the central Oregon coast. The Takelma were joined on the reservations by their neighbors, the Athapaskans and the Shasta, as well as tribes from even farther away, such as the Coos and Tillamook. It is reported that by 1906 less than ten Takelma were alive and able to speak their native language. In 1994, for the first time in over 140 years, an ancient ceremony took place to welcome home and give thanks for the returning salmon, on the Kanaka Flats of the Applegate River. People of all heritages were welcomed at the annual Salmon Gathering on the Applegate River until 2006. In 2007, the ceremony was moved to the place where it was held for thousands of years: the Tilomikh (Powerhouse Falls), on the Rogue River near Gold Hill, Oregon. Since then, the ceremony has taken place annually in its traditional location, demonstrating that the Takelma culture is alive and will continue into the future. Today, Takelma descendents continue to reside on or near the Siletz and Grand Ronde reservations. The Pilgrims brought back the Salmon Ceremony to Southern Oregon. Due to the Pilgrim’s contribution in returning the Salmon Ceremony to Jackson County, Agnis Baker-Pilgrim is known to some locals as the ‘Keeper of the Sacred Salmon Ceremony. Agnes, one of the oldest grandmothers of the International Council of the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers, has returned to the Rogue Valley and today her voice can be heard strong and clear, proving that the spirit and blood of her people are still with us. PLANT & ANIMAL RELATIONS We are very fortunate to be surrounded by a widely diverse population of flora and fauna. As caretakers of this sacred land, we feel a strong responsibility to honor our plant and animal allies by not only protecting them and their habitat, but also to help educate others about what lives and grows here by providing people with opportunities to experience the beauty of these plants and animals for themselves. For this reason, We are honored to host the many different groups who will gather here on this land for learning and communing with the nature that flourishes here. We feel very fortunate to be involved in this process of helping promote a sustainable and abundant future for all living things on this planet by sharing knowledge and skills from the human past that can make a sustainable lifestyle a reality for everyone everywhere. The animals here include, but are not limited to deer, foxes, coyote, raccoon, skunks, and sometimes black bear though we havent seen any yet! The birds that surround us are migratory geese, quail, wild turkeys, hawks, ospreys and eagles. The fish that call the Illinois River their home are the Salmon People, Steelhead & Trout along with their friends the otter and ducks. The Land is a no-hunting zone so the animals here are abudant and safe. The plant life here is incredibly diverse. This land is home to many native grasses, ferns, and berries, wild flowers, as well as many other edible and medicinal plants and fungi such as mugwort, self-heal, soap root, and a variety of mushrooms. The tree population is a blend of hardwoods like Manzanita, Madrone, and several kinds of Oaks along with mature Fir, Pine, Cedar trees, Alder, Maple and Apples. With special attention to management of non-native and invasive plants, Spirit Weavers is committed to maintaining a well balanced forest ecosystem with high biodiversity. CLIMATE & THE ILLINOIS VALLEY Cedar Song holds the heart during the summer. Temps can range from 75-95 during the day and generally cools down to the 70's during the evenings. Swimming in the summer months is delicious. We have mostly pebbly beaches and a jagged rock and sand beach right where the Swimming hole is. The river is chilly until late June and it cools down again in late September. EMERGENCIES If someone needs to reach you in an emergency, Cell phones work great on the land. If you don't get service and need to contact someone our land phones are available. FOOD & WATER Town is close so if you need to run errands to grab food its a short 5 min drive away. All of our water is on a well and is super clean and ran through a UV light. GRATITUDE We feel honored to be stewards of this land. One of our main visions for this land is to protect its cultural and environmental heritage. We are excited to share about the native food forest we will be cultivating for the local community and beyond. We will also be placing the land into a conservation trust so no logging or future development can occur. For the many years to come, we will explore the ways can live in harmony with the natural world for the greater good of people and the plants and animals we depend on. We welcome you to Cedar Song! • The Tipi was awesome! Warm, comfortable futon, clean interior, and in the cleanest RV park you'll ever come across. The RV park manager was very nice and helpful. Thanks again, we loved it!

  • The tipi and campground were fantastic! The tipi was the perfect Temperature at night with my light sleeping bag. Check-in was very simple. The bathrooms were clean, and even though you have no power, the wifi is helpful since there in no cell service with AT&T. Glenn is a very nice guy and so are the caretakers of the place. The firepit was a big plus and there is lots of kindling around. The RV was very cute but since I arrived pretty late, I didn't venture beyond my campsite. Advice: bring whatever you need to cook and the food you want to cook- the nearest store is far away.

  • We had a great (if a little short) stay here. Easy to find and fun to stay in a Tipi. O'Brien is very small and we didn't get phone reception there but it had great facilities for camping and the mattreses were comfortable.

  • My partner and I had a great time at Glenn's! We were on a Southern Oregon road trip and this was a great place to spend the night. The futon was comfortable and the teepee itself was lovely. It was nice to have a semi-camping experience, but still be able to sleep in a bed. The only slight downside was that since it's so close to the road there were some pretty loud motorcycles that suddenly broke the quote in what was otherwise a very peaceful place. Once I went to sleep though, the noise never woke me up. If you are down this way make sure you stop at It's a Burl to see some amazing treehouses and Happy Trails for an amazing dollar record selection. Both places a just a bit north of Cave Junction.

Beverley's Cabin B is her favorite on the property. Built in the 60's, The lodge, cabins, and surrounding 6 acres of wooded grounds depict a striking juxtaposition between rustic and modern comfort. Cabin B is close enough to the river to hear its gentle soothing rhythm and opens up to an acre of grassy grounds for kids (or fur babies) to play on. Room to walk along trails, grass, and gravel roads and explore the river. During August blackberries are abundant for foraging.
Cabin B has 3 beds-one queen size and 2 twins. The twin beds are trundled (pull the second out from underneath) and make up into a couch during the day. The kitchen includes a full sized fridge, oven, stove, microwave, toaster, coffee makers, and fully stocked with pots. pans, and dishes for 6 people.
Beverley's Cabins are located about 1.5 hours from Medford, 40 minutes from Yreka, and 2 hours to Happy Camp. Trailhead access for The Cascades is within 1.5 hours as well as water rafting, fishing, etc along the river. The PCT trail going through Seiad is about 1 hour away. Winter sports in Mt Shasta and Ashland area are both within 2 hours.

  • Absolutely breathtaking! Jacksonville is stunning; Medford is only a 20 minute drive. Miles made everything very easy for us as we were traveling from San Francisco to Portland, and back down to Medford. I cannot wait to come back. The house is so clean and put together that is made me want to move away for good.

  • Charming, secluded, very well equipped cabin in the woods combining all the comforts of home with the beauty of nature just outside. Two bedrooms plus a futon in the den will sleep six comfortably. Rustic setting with modern conveniences. One bath with all amenities, plus a separate laundry room with washer and dryer. Kitchen was perfect for a quick breakfast but also equipped for the most creative chef. We did not use the hot tub but the lighted deck overlooking a mountain stream made for a very romantic setting. Air conditioning not needed as fans helped take the edge off as the late June night turned chilly. The wood fired stove and plenty of firewood were available just in case. Trail outside down to the stream gave us a chance to commune with nature after breakfast. Miles provided information on the surrounding area including his favorite among many wineries. Make sure and get directions; it is truly a hideaway!

  • Fantastic place to get away! Beautiful and peaceful.

  • Thanks again! This is a pretty special little spot. Very comfortable (the bed, the fireplace, the heater..all worked great), but bring your own firewood. Hot tub was hot and comfortable. Very private and the creek right outside is awesome. We would definitely consider returning in the summer. A couple of things - The cleaning could definitely be improved in some spots, and I have no doubt that Miles will address that. He was very communicative and easy to reach! And that shower didn't drain well. And most of those towels should be replaced. Love the place though, and oh so comfortable and private. The bed was rather comfy too. Miles seems great and handled any concern we had quickly.

  • We had a great time at Miles's cabin, it was exactly what we wanted for our family reunion weekend. Between the cosy fire and the hot tub, it was the perfect place to hang out and catch up. We would recommend the cabin for anyone looking for a beautiful stay in the countryside.

  • This was one of the best places we have ever stayed. We have two young daughters and the cabin was perfect for our family of four. It provided the seclusion we were looking for but still close enough to go enjoy the area. We visited several wineries in the area including the one recommended. Sadly the swimming hole was dried up for the season but our girls enjoyed the hot tub. All questions were answered in a very timely manner and were very friendly. Can't say enough positive things about our experience. Hope we are able to visit again in the near future! Thank you so much!!

  • Great place! Big enough living area, a big kitchen, a traditional bedroom downstairs and an open bedroom upstairs. If you want a secluded place for peace and tranquility this would be perfect. House was very clean with all the necessities. Having a hot tub takes this place to the next level, not to forget the creek and a small puddle/pond a min away. Miles was communicative, helpful and welcoming since we made the booking. Glad we found it!

  • The host was very communicative, before and during the stay, with requested recommendations and cleaner schedule and just general support about what route to take etc. We really appreciated that. We could have used more detailed notes and instructions. We prepared to be totally disconnected but the wifi worked excellently! Connectivity was good and fast enough. The issues that other reviewers noted seems to have been fixed. The heater works well and the house stays warm even when it was snowing outside. The hot tub temperature was quite good considering. It was amazing to relax in a hot tub while it was snowing! Made for a unique experience. The light switches are a bit all over the place and behave oddly with different on/off sides. The kitchen appliances are very up to date and good but the kitchen could be stocked more. Compared to other cabins we have stayed at, more utensils are definitely needed. It is not fun to rush to the dishwasher so many times on a vacation. Only one or two pan fit our needs and we had to wash and rewash them again and again. Basic stuff like salt and sugar were barely there and we ran out of salt for dinner, which was very irritating. There was pancake mix but not syrup. Simple things like jam and cooking oil were not there. There were some good leftover things from previous stayers but I would rather have the basic things provided instead of fancy stuff. The wooden stove is really fun but we did not find the wood. Instructions for noobs like us would be helpful! Plan for getting your own wood. The bed is great and the location is quiet and peaceful with a creek in the backyard. It is separated from neighbors and secluded. We went to bella union in jacksonville for new years eve and it was fun. Saw some good brunch options in the area but did not end up going.
