Beach
“Most stunning beach of Eleuthera. SUV rental recommended, on the most southern end of Eleuthera accessible via a bumpy road.”

Nature
“This famous beach intersects the tropic of cancer on Little Exuma. You will need a car to get here. Little Exuma is connected to Great Exuma via a small bridge. This is the longest beach on the island and you will probably have it to yourself. The beach is named after the meridian line that defines the northern extent of the tropics and crosses right through it. Watch carefully for the small sign after crossing onto Small Exuma. Once you leave Queen's Highway, it is a bumpy, dirt road. Look for the little shack on the left where you can park. The sign is washed out and sometimes can't be seen from the road. If you get to Santana's, you've gone too far. ”

Place to shop
“One of the things I love about Exuma is that you do not have locals chasing you around trying to sell you things or braid your hair like every other Caribbean island I have been to. If you want souvenirs or local crafts, head to the Straw Market in George Town, next to the Police Station. It is basically a big tent where the locals pack and unpack their wears each day. There is no high pressure but the prices are generally not very negotiable.”

Restaurante
“Santana's is located on Little Exuma which is attached to Great Exuma by a bridge. If you are taking a drive out to the Tropic of Cancer Beach, it is a great place to stop. Santana's specialty is seafood but they offer other food. They have beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean. Santana's boasts of being the favorite hangout for the cast and crew of the Pirate of the Caribbean II and III. Be warned, the only accept cash and they are closed on Sundays.”

“Stocking Island is the large island you can see directly across from the resort. It protects the area from ocean waves, creating a natural harbor. It is famous for the Chat N' Chill Bar and Grill (see details in restaurant section), but it also has Beacon Hill with great views. Hurricane Hole is an inlet where sailboats anchor and an underwater cave known as the Blue Hole. You can get to Stocking Island by renting a boat from Minns or taking the water taxi from the Government Docks in George Town.”

“The 176-square-mile Exuma Cays Land and Sea National Park, created in 1958, was the first land and sea park in the world and is one of the most successful marine parks. It is the first "no-take reserve" (all fishing is prohibited) in the wider Caribbean. This stretch of pristine water, land and beaches is an ecological preserve and wildlife refuge famous for its breath-taking marine environment. Scuba diving and snorkeling are popular here, and you can encounter nature first-hand by feeding the endangered Bahamian iguanas or catching a glimpse of the elusive hutia, with the assistance of one of the professional guides. ”

“Meet the adorable and famous Swimming Pigs. This is one thing you can't miss while you're here. Visit Pig Beach and get a selfie with the #swimmingpigs—they're even cuter in person! How did the pigs get to Pig Beach? We don't know for sure. Big Major Cay is uninhabited and the pigs are not native to the island. Some say they were left by a group of sailors, who planned to come back and cook them. Or that the pigs swam over from a shipwreck nearby.”

“Big D's is more of an experience than a restaurant. Known for their fresh conch salad. After placing a conch order, an employee will snorkel out about 50 feet and come back with your conchs. The chef will then prepare the freshest salad you've ever had. Big D's is towards the top of the island. It is a good place to stop if you are vising Cocoplum Beach or Emerald Bay.”
