Government Building
“The White House is the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States. It is located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C. and has been the residence of every U.S. President since John Adams in 1800. ”

Parque
“Take some time to explore this urban oasis, with its elaborate gardens, cascading fountains and Joan of Arc statue. Situated near the Columbia Heights neighborhood, Meridian Hill was first a mansion, then a camp for Union soldiers, and eventually, an Italianate-style garden. Today, the park serves as a community gathering place that hosts a drum circle every Sunday.”

“I recommend seeing this place at night. All the monuments are beautifully lit up, relatively walkable between each other, and it is so much less crowded and cool at night than during the day. Either side of the statue has his Inauguration Speech and his Gettysburg Address which are emotional and somehow never becomes irrelevant to current events. Across the reflecting pool from the Washington Monument and the US Capitol building, it's a stop along the National Mall that you have to see. ”

“Escape from the AC into the atrium of the National Building Museum - a good number of free exhibits but the best do require an entry fee. Several activities for kids, but get there early on weekends to avoid waiting.”

“This free memorial to the victims of the 9-11 attack on the Pentagon is a very special place. The memorial itself is thoughtfully planned with special meaning built in to its design. This is my favorite place in D.C. for reflection and peace and quiet when needed. Recommend visiting at dusk. ”
