“It's a lake that feels like the beach! It's only 20 minutes away (compared to 3 hours to the ocean), and it's got sand beaches and public swimming areas. It's $6-$7 from April-September depending on the day, but free on weekdays from September through May (excluding holidays). You can bring stuff to grill on their outdoor grills (like at picnic shelters) if you'd like. Our whole family loves it! You can also bring floaties. ”

“A local favorite swimming hole. Take a pair of water shoes and enjoy mucking about in the river. If you want to float downstream for the afternoon, I have a double kayak for rent and will be able to pick you up at the take-out near Capital Blvd (1.5 hour trip) for $40 or at the Buffalo Rd (4 hour trip) take-out for $80. Tubing drop off and pickup is $20. ”
