“Nice atmosphere, can belly up to the bar indoors or head out to their outdoor area. Has a small food stand in the back called Hot Box if you're hungry and another little open window bar if you miss the days when you could smoke inside. ”

“This speak easy should be on the top of your list of To Do's. To get there you must go through the restaurant, Hot Diggity Dogs, into a phone booth, and pick up the phone to speak with the hostess. She will invite you in through a hidden door when there is seating available for you. Be sure and check out the wall paper once you get inside! ”

“Rowe's is also open for dinner, serving one of the best burgers in town. I highly recommend going there for brunch-- they have a bloody mary bar, excellent selection of brunch options, as well as outdoor seating that is pet friendly! The restaurant is family and group friendly!”

“Nostalgia comes in a can at this basement bar. Located below Sheppard’s Pet Supply in the Avondale Mills shopping center, Mom’s channels every ’80s kid’s childhood. Wood paneling, pinball machines, mismatched sofas and a fridge that stays stocked with beer are just a few of the highlights at Mom’s. “The idea [for the bar] came from the memory of hanging out in your parents’ basement,” says Patrick Nelson, who co-owns the bar alongside locals Rae Baker, Wes Frazer and Dan Drinkard. “It was just something everyone could identify with and relate to.” Because the bar was inspired by a simpler time, the foursome decided to go for a casual vibe with the bar’s decor and menu. Only serving beer and wine from the can, Mom’s makes us all long for the days of cutting up in the basement with friends — letting the hours effortlessly slip by.”
