“Denver was founded at Confluence Park as a gold mining camp in 1858. Today, the river park is the heart of Denver's 85-mile bike trail network, and is surrounded by attractions. Ride the Platte River Trolley to the Downtown Aquarium to see stingrays and sharks and The Children's Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus, with dozens of interactive "playscapes" for younger kids; eat and drink in the nearby neighborhoods of Riverfront, LoHi and Highlands.”

“Just a 2 block walk, this park hosts the capitol and other municipal buildings. The history museum is nearby and there is an Ai Wei Wei outdoor exhibit of the Chinese zodiacs. I will also mention that there are a lot of homeless people here. If that makes you uncomfortable, I recommend you skip this park. That being said, I stroll there often (as a fan of Ai Wei Wei and local activist efforts) and I've never encountered an experience that felt unsafe or threatening. ”

“It’s the first homestead in Denver, located exactly four miles from LoDo (lower downtown). If I recall correctly, it was established in 1856, and it remains in its original state, has been made into a museum and interactive exhibit. You can harken back to wagon-trail times and churn butter, feel the weight of a real wagon wheel, and pretend to sleep under the stars like the pioneers did (minus the typhoid fever, measles, tuberculosis and five months of not washing oneself). ”
