Buddhist Temple
“This is quite a must-go place in Chiang Mai, which means crowds spoil it a little bit. But actually there is a moment when this place actually recovers its uniqueness, it is right after the sunset. At night Doi Suthep is an amazing place to feel the importance of the place. Tell us to go there at night, we will never say no!”

“In 1950 the US government sent military advisers to train tribal police along the border of Thailand. Among them was Harold Mason Young, son of American missionaries, who had been born in Burma. Young started helping injured animals, and his collection started getting visitors. The Chiang Mai provincial government set aside 24 acres (9.7 ha) at the base of Doi Suthep, the mountain immediately adjacent to Chiang Mai, and the facility was opened to the public in 1957. When Young died in 1974, the property was taken over by Chiang Mai Province. The zoo was expanded to its current 200 acres (81 ha) footprint, transferred to the Zoological Park Organization under the patronage of the King of Thailand, and opened as the official zoo of Chang Mai Province in 1977. ”

“Tha Phae Gate or the former name of Chiang Rai Kor Gate It is the eastern gate and is one of the 5 inner city gates of Wiang Chiang Mai. Currently, it is the only city gate with gates. But Thapae Gate is a new construction. Not ancient in any way Tha Phae Gate has been reduced in size and height because of the different environment in the past.”

Bar
“Zoe in Yellow is the number one party venue for every traveller under 35 years old in Chiang Mai. It is a bar with a dance floor, surrounded by seven other bars each offering slightly different music, ranging from dance, pop, hip hop to drum'n'bass, techno and reggae. Zoe in Yellow is located on a street corner right in the middle of the Old City. Everybody knows it, so if you can’t find it you can either ask or follow the music. Zoe in Yellow is open every evening from sunset until midnight, and there are always foreign travellers dancing and drinking. Drinks are very reasonable in all the bars, with a beer at Zoe in Yellow costing around 60 Baht and a cocktail 100 Baht. While there is no food available at the bar, the next door neighbour serves authentic Indian food and after 10pm a kebab van arrives to feed hungry partiers. It is said that you haven’t visited Chiang Mai until you have had a drink at Zoe in Yellow!”

“The 700-year-old forest temple is worth a visit, with tropical gardens and a towering stupa. The pond is a peaceful spot to feed the turtles and fish, and the ancient tunnels beneath the temple are believed to date back to the 13th and 14th-centuries.”

“many people enjoy Kad Suan Kaew Shopping Centre as it is genuinely Thai. It is still unbeatable as one of the cheapest places to eat in Chiang Mai. It has Tops Market (super market) to buy everything you need. In the shopping mall, you can find chain stores such as Boots and Ice-cream shop, Black Canyon Coffee, Waston... The fried chicken with rice and broth at one of the food stalls is excellent. For about 50B you can get a huge bowl of pork noodle soup with dumplings. If you don't want or enjoy a band, you can eat at the smaller food court inside the same area as the Tops Market. They have a good kao soy, if you enjoy that dish. Tops has a great salad bar! ”
