“This is a firm favourite boulangerie of ours and just a short walk from the chalet. They do all the usual stuff - pastries, bread, croissants plus mouthwatering tarts. The perfect pre-ski fuel stop!”

“This quirky restaurant serving Savoyard specialities is set in a stunning valley and the perfect stop-off for lunch, coffee or an ice cream in summer while on a walk. In winter, it's open just for dinner and is a must and is hugely popular with locals. Its setting in this peaceful, barely inhabited valley is remote and otherworldly in the winter when it is surrounded by snowy peaks and starry skies.”

“This is the closest supermarket to the chalet and about 5 mins walk away. It's not huge but has a good selection of fruit, veg, dried, canned and frozen goods, wine and also has a nice deli counter with freshly made dishes such as quiche and even curry! ”

“This excellent tourist office, near the gondola and 10 mins walk from our chalet, has tons of info and leaflets about activities and the area, including maps of hikes, ski maps, ski lift pass info, daily weather reports and avalanche risk etc. There are good English speakers here too. ”

“La Plagne / In the bowels of the glacier of Chiaupe ... In the bowels of the glacier of Chiaupe, on the summit of Bellecôte (3417m), an ice cave has been dug since 2005. Housed in a gallery with several rooms, the cave houses spectacular carvings directly carved into the ice. Accessible to all, pedestrians and skiers will be able to discover distinctly the different layers of ice and the colors of this glacial world. A short summary A giant iguana, marmots, raptors and even giant flowers are carpeted in the bowels of the glacier. At 0 ° c, whatever the outside conditions, the belly of the glacier will have no more secrets for you. Discover the different strata of ice, the colors of this”

“A visit to the highest peak of the glacier is a must if you're coming to Tignes. Head up early as it can get chilly once the sun sets. ”

“This is somewhere we always try to go to in the summer. It's a short walk from the top of the Champagny gondola and has a large terrace for dining with absolutely jaw-dropping mountain views. My favourite dish here is their melon, parma ham, avocado and mozzarella salad. The owners are incredibly friendly and the food is also outstanding. To work off your lunch there are quite a few walking options to take from here too. ”
