“The North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh serves the people of North Carolina and all visitors as a top destination for compelling encounters with art, inside and out. A stunning permanent collection, and high-profile traveling exhibitions come through here. The sculpture garden is vast and modern. If you are lucky enough to be here in summer, their summer music series is contemporary, bustling, and the setting is gorgeous. Bring a picnic. If you plan to imbibe, buy your alcohol there, they don’t let you haul it in. ”

It’s close enough to other Uptown arts venues to create a day of cultural exploration. (Purchase the $20 Levine Center for the Arts Pass, which grants you access to four of them for 48 hours.)”

It's also a good option because it works for families with kids age 4 and up, but it's also fun for couples or solo travelers. In addition, the ticket is relatively inexpensive. I believe I paid $10 for mine. ”

“I recommend this place as a bit of history mixed with some nature hikes. It’s small but a very nice stroll if you go early in the season before crowds come in. If you’re lucky enough to be here before the season starts, it’s a perfect quiet stroll through the park with some historic landmarks and informational posts scattered throughout. We have not personally been to the lost colony play, but have heard it’s fun for kids and families.”
