My place is in the village of Infanta - a remote gem not known by many. If you like to be far from the hustle and bustle then Infanta is the place for you. This small fishing village sits at the mouth of the Breede River opposite Witsand. Our beach cottage is in the village itself and borders the de Hoop nature reserve. It is 3 minutes walk to the beach, and offers swimming, hiking, fishing, kayaking, supping and so much more.
This is a purposefully natural house in the village. It is simple yet has all of the necessary luxuries such as a proper coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. All linen is 100 percale cotton and the idea is for a relaxed yet comfortable beachside experience.
This area is known for its beautiful estuary, rich in fauna and flora. The estuary is an excellent destination for kite-boarding and / or fishing holiday.
The shimmy shack was a pleasant surprise for us, especially with it being our first visit to Infanta. It had a real homely feel, and the large open plan layout was ideal for us as a group. The sweeping sea views were absolutely breathtaking. Ravonne let us in and out and was very helpful and friendly. Communicating with Gail was a breeze as she was very responsive. We would definitely recommend staying at the shimmy shack if you're looking for a rustic beachside getaway. We hope to be back soon!
