“You simply must see the rainforest via the Skyrail. Quite expensive, but very beautiful with spectacular views. Spend the day enjoying the markets in Kuranda, then either catch the skyrail back, or perhaps the train.”

It's Patrolled daily by Life Guards. Lush park grounds with huge Banyan Trees surround the lagoon, dotted along the boardwalk are free BBQ facilities, cleaned daily, making it a perfect picnic spot. There are many public artworks around the Lagoon as well as live entertainment every weekend showcasing local musicians. ”

Mercado de productores locales
“Rusty's Markets a popular Cairns icon in the heart of the CBD. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday- a mix of locals and tourists flock to the markets in search of the freshest locally grown and harvested seasonal produce. Rusty’s also offers everything from hand made soap, fresh flowers and plants to clothing, gems and bric a brac. Local musicians add to the buzzy atmosphere, amongst the food trucks, coffee vans, juice vendors, and so much more. Grab a bite and make a day of Cairns most unique marketplace”

“Crystal Cascades is one of the secrets of Tropical North Queensland that locals wish they could hide from visitors, accessible only by self drive. It is a secluded freshwater swimming hole, hidden in a tropical rainforest. A series of small waterfalls flow into large pools surrounded by large impressive granite boulders. Rainforest trees hang over the mountain water, keeping it cool and refreshing. There are also council managed and cleaned BBQ and picnic tables in the area with a toilet/change room block close-by. For most, the only way of discovering the presence of Crystal Cascades is by being told by a local, or unwittingly following road signs to the unique surroundings. ”

“Botanical gardens are close by and well worth having a look at all the flora and fauna, the tropics is an amazing place to visit and see nature at its best. There is also an exercise walk to a view overlooking the city of Cairns and the Ocean. It is called the red arrow, this is also next to the botanical gardens. It is medium to strenuous climbing of stairs, but well worth the view when you reach the top . Cafes and restuarants nearby for a well deserved breakfast/drink”

“Behind the Botanic Gardens on Collins Ave is Mount Whitfield Conservation Park, here you will find The Red and Blue Arrow Walking Trails. . The Red Arrow loop trail (1.5Km return) is the most popular walking track, enjoy the rainforest whilst ascending up to the lookout , with views over the city and out to Green Island. A short link trail a further 50 metres up is where the Blue Arrow loop trail (4.5Km return) starts. The Blue Arrow trail takes you through mainly rainforest to an elevation of 300m. About half way around, a short side track will take you to a lookout on the summit of Mt Lumley Hill where you get views along the coast to the north of Cairns.”
