Tragos y vida nocturna en Budapest

“Ask pretty much anyone what they recommend you do in Budapest and they’ll likely suggest a night out at Szimpla Kert. The iconic party place is undoubtedly the city’s most famous nightspot, and has inspired wave after wave of “ruin pubs” that have popped up in the years since it opened. We sat down with one of the owners, Ábel Zsendovits, to talk about the role Szimpla has played in Budapest becoming one of Europe’s top tourist destinations, particularly among young people. While you might think he’s too busy running his Szimpla empire to have a lemonade with us, he was generous with his time. Location: H-1075 Budapest, Kazinczy u. 14 ”

“What is it? This centrally-located nightlife spot opened in 2010, offering a slightly more polished clubbing experience than it’s edgier counterparts. Ötkert’s magic takes place in an impressive, restored nineteenth-century building. Why go? During most summer nights, Ötkert boasts five DJs playing a mix of commercial music, R&B and hip hop across two rooms, as well as some themed nights. They also have a large terrace which is perfect for summer vibes and which comes equipped with patio roof and outdoor heating for the colder nights.”

“kvárium Klub, the surrounding , and the adjacent Deák Square together constitute the largest and perhaps best-known meeting point of downtown Budapest. Thousands of youngsters gather here night after night to chill out in the park or on the steps of the club. Akvárium Klub is more than a simple bar: it is a culture center with a wide musical repertoire from mainstream to underground. There is always a good concert and a smashing exhibition, performance, or other event happening here, in a friendly scene, situated right in the city center. Furthermore, Volt-Lokál found inside brings the atmosphere of the best festivals to Budapest week by week.”

“From panoramic igloos to glass-fronted terraces augmenting Art Nouveau hotels, Budapest has any number of terraces to sip mulled wine in the warmth of indoors while watching the snow fall and Christmas lights tinkle. Some are seasonal additions or conversions to popular alfresco spots in summer, others imaginative creations that have only been unveiled this year. Those operating as extensions to top-notch restaurants can offer fine fare to go with your glass of red, a surprisingly affordable experience particularly if you factor in lunchtime deals as well. Live music is an occasional feature, DJs too.”

“The music is a bit “commercial” and the service is not the best in town but this club has an amazing architecture! They transformed an abandoned Palace into this fantastic club. It’s worth to go check it! Plus, it’s not so expensive.”

“A small place, street food at its best! Highly creative and delicious. You may need to queue for some time depending on the time of the day but their soups are out of the world and their baguettes are amazing too. Not much space to sit so take it outside to eat or ask them to pack for take away.”
