Lugares para hospedarse en Barham
20ft up nesting between three sturdy oak trees this treehouse made of recycled timbers has uninterrupted views across the glorious north downs AONB. Cosy and private set on the edge of a barley field the only sound is the wind through the trees and birdsong. Heater and double glazing makes this ideal in winter or summer, and a chemical loo in the cabin at ground level adds a creature comfort. An induction hob, cool box electric kettle Nespresso machine and music system are all there.
The treehouse is cosy with plenty of space for a couple. There is a chemical loo downstairs in a cabin, and shower etc is sometimes available in the house which is reasonably close .... The idea was to create a relaxing space to read admire the views and enjoy quiet times alone or together. I really hope it works and so far the signs are good. There is no noise, but a village with two pubs and a restaurant just over a mile away.
The village of Elham with pubs and restaurant is just over a mile walk away over fields or country lane. Canterbury is half an hour by bus or 20 minutes by car. The seaside is 20 minutes away (URL HIDDEN) Margaret's bay, Folkestone ...

Places to visit Canterbury Cathedral Cathedral House, 11 The Precincts, Canterbury CT1 2EE, (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) The Mother Church of the Anglican Communion and an outstanding example of English ecclesiastical architecture. Founded by St. Augustine in 597AD it was the country's first cathedral. The building is particularly renowned for superb examples of 13th Century stained glass windows. Visitors can view the Crypt, the Tomb of The Black Prince and - most famously - the tomb of Archbishop Thomas Becket. The spot where Becket was murdered is marked in the cathedral. The Cathedral precincts are also of interest, as are the medieval streets and Buttermarket that surround it. It's open all year, but subject to regular entry restrictions for services and special circumstances. If you get the chance to visit for a service, take the opportunity - you won't regret it! St Augustines Abbey Longport, Canterbury, Kent, CT1 1PF Situated just outside the city walls, opposite Canterbury Cathedral. In the year 598, Saint Augustine was sent to England by Pope Gregory I, on what might nowadays be called a revival mission. King of Kent at this time was Ethelbert, who happened to be married to a Christian, Bertha. Whether or not his spouse influenced him isn't known, but he allowed Augustine to found the first monastery in Britain just outside the city walls of Canterbury. It was originally created as a burial place for the Anglo-Saxon kings of Kent and is part of the Canterbury World Heritage Site, (along with the cathedral and St Martin's Church). It opens from Wednesday - Sunday between April and June, daily in July and August, and at weekends only for the rest of the year. Howletts zoo Bekesbourne Road, Bekesbourne Road, Bekesbourne, Canterbury CT4 5JL A world-class wild animal park set in ninety acres of beautiful ancient park land. It has a superb collection of exhibits including lions, tigers, elephants, and apes. The park, which was founded by John Aspinall, is also respected for its successful breeding programmes - along with its sister park at Port Lympne near Hythe. Wingham Wildlife park Rusham Road, Canterbury, CT3 1JL Wingham Wildlife Park first opened its doors as Wingham Bird Park in 1986, changing its name to Wingham Wildlife Park approximately 15 years later. The park is now so much more than birds and offer a full package of fun for all the family to enjoy from play areas, mini diggers and go-karts to hands on encounters, museum exhibits and beautiful picnic locations. Wildwood Trust Herne Common, Herne Bay, Kent Wildwood is a unique woodland discovery park. It occupies 40 acres of ancient woodland, with easy access and lots to do and explore. From owls to otters, bees to beavers, and wild boar to wolves, you can experience close encounters with native wildlife in an environment that is close to nature. The life of Wildwood constantly changes with the seasons; as the animals give birth a whole host of young animals can be spotted, which means every visit is a new experience. You can also travel back to Saxon times to meet the local residents and find out how humans and nature got along. Catch a live demonstration of their ancient crafts and skills from the UK's leading re-enactment society. Port Lympne Aldington Road, Lympne, Hythe CT21 4LR Set over 600 acres, Port Lympne is home to the UK’s most authentic safari experience, The African Experience – 100 acres alive with African animals. Join our safari vehicles to see animals including zebras and giraffes wandering freely then head off on foot around the rest of the park to see the big cats and primates. Look out for the baby giraffe and rhino born in 2016! Visitors to Port Lympne throughout the year are promised a super, natural and epic day out as they explore wooded pathways to discover where the wild things are and see the UK’s largest herd of black rhino, big cats, small cats, primates, western lowland gorillas and more. Tankerton slopes and beach The cliff-top lawns of Tankerton Slopes, with their colourful beach huts, roll gently towards the sea and provide an excellent vantage point to watch the nautical world go by. The coastline provides a lovely walk for miles or just find a place to relax on the shingle beach. There are far reaching views across the estuary towards Southend. A long thin spit of shingle is exposed at high tide locally known as 'The Street', which is quickly covered at high tide. During the winter months the slopes are a popular place for sledging! Broadstairs Broadstairs is popular for its award-winning Blue Flag sandy beaches, delightful range of independent shops and cliff top walks to neighbouring Ramsgate and Margate. Whitstable Whitstable is like no other town by the sea. Its traditional charms, strong arts culture and rich maritime history complement Whitstable's modern appeal. Whitstable's main claim to fame is its oysters which remain an intrinsic part of this sea town's character and are celebrated every July at the Oyster Festival. Oysters and other delicacies from the sea can be enjoyed at the local restaurants and pubs or taken home from the fresh fish market at the harbour. Local walks There are a number of beautiful walks located around Littlebourne. Walks to the nearby villages of Wickhambreaux and Ickham are definitely worth a visit. Both have lovely country pubs that served traditional home cooked food.

Traditional bedroom with double bed and ample storage space in large cottage, built 1733. It has not been overly modernised, but has central heating, modern shower/wetroom, and Wifi. I also have a very friendly Jack Russell! Ideal base to explore East Kent. Due to steps and stairs, not suitable for people with limited mobility. Please note there's only one parking space (on my neighbours' drive), but there's also a layby 100 m from the house. The bus stop is about 300 m away, on the main road.
Double room in Kentish cottage: open fires, beams, etc. Not suitable for people with mobility problems. The room has a double bed, is carpeted, has central heating and a walk-in wardrobe. Shared bathroom next to room; also a wetroom downstairs. We have a piano and a big garden. Towels, toiletries and a hairdryer are provided. Please note both the pillows and duvet are filled with feathers, and I'm afraid I have no synthetic ones. Breakfast is included: tea, coffee, fruit juice, cereal and / or as much toast and eggs as you can eat - though I'll happily provide other things if you give me enough warning :-) We have a Jack Russel...she's very friendly, but this is not a good place for someone who doesn't like dogs! The house is on a street off the main road in a quiet village between Canterbury and Sandwich. At the back of the house there's a field full of rabbits, squirrels and birds. The house is about a mile away from Howletts wild animal park. Good bus service to Sandwich and Canterbury - every 20 minutes through the day (not so good in the evening or on Sundays!) The bus takes about 10 minutes to get from Canterbury to Littlebourne; the bus stop is 300 metres away, on the main road. Half hourly train service from Canterbury to London (St Pancras/Charing Cross or Victoria); the fastest takes just under an hour. National Express coaches (to Victoria) are usually much cheaper but take about two hours. Apart from being just 4 miles from the world famous tourist destination of Canterbury and its spectacular medieval cathedral, the village of Littlebourne is surrounded by beautiful countryside, and the sea is within a half hour drive to the north, east and south....oysters at Whitstable, glorious sandy beaches of Thanet, Turner at Margate, Dickens at Broadstairs, birdwatching on the sand dunes at Sandwich, a pier and two Tudor castles at Deal, the White Cliffs and Castle at Dover (not to mention frequent ferries to France) - and there's Britain's only official desert at Dungeness, about an hour south west of Canterbury.
It's quiet and rural. Canterbury is a very busy little town and I love it, but it is nice to get back to the peace and quiet of my garden. I think the most important things to see here are Canterbury, and the coast: Dover, Whitstable, Broadstairs, Sandwich - depending on your tastes and amount of time available.

Our Top 10 Recommendations for 2020: 1. NEW The Curious Brewery in Ashford for tours, tastings and dining! And now the Hop Fuzz Brewery in West Hythe - we are spoilt for choice! 2. Micro breweries are a firm favourite particularly the hidden gem that is the Wrong Turn at Barfrestone. 3. The Stag in the Marlowe Arcade in Canterbury is new, hip and cool with an amazing array of wall art depicting Kent beaches. 4. Is your bouldering your thing? Try Chimera Climbing in Canterbury. 5. Macknade Food Hall in Faversham is a fabulous wholefoods market with a rustic cafe or try the Good's Shed in Canterbury next to Canterbury West Railway Station serving 'best of the day' meals from ingredients sourced from the market. 6. Check out the listings for The Quarterhouse in Folkestone and you'll be a few steps away from not one, but two, Banksy favourites! Funky artwork is spread all over Folkestone from the Triennial; look out for the brightly coloured houses or the swinging bell! 7. A beautiful walk or cycle ride will take you along the Crab and Winkle way from Canterbury (starting at the Good's Shed - see above) to Whitstable. Quiet paths, country churches and limitless bluebells make this a stunning Spring adventure! 8. If Parkrun is your thing you can start the alphabet in Ashford but Canterbury, Folkestone and Whitstable will also oblige! 9. Occupying the most photographed building in Canterbury after the Cathedral is the Crooked House (Catching Lives charity bookshop) - a delightfully skewed 17th century half-timbered house in Palace Street opposite the famous Kings School. Duck to enter! 10. A trip out to the Lighthouse at Dungeness (you can see it from miles away on a clear day!) incorporates England's only offical desert. It has a spooky feel .... Archived from 2019: 1. Dover, Walmer and Deal Castles are all close by (sometimes it's worth joining English Heritage for best value deals) - this year Walmer (home of the Lord Wardens of the Cinque Ports most famously the Queen Mother and the Duke of Wellington) has re-opened it's Walmer Glen gardens - check their website for details 2. The Independent Pedaler at Bridge is a cyclist-friendly watering hole with a delicious menu and scrummy home-made cakes (especially the Hummingbird cake). 'Host a Roast' is available on Sundays. They also sell the famous locally made 'Rope and Oak' products. 3. Breakfast with a view - try the kitchen at Sene Valley Golf Course, Hythe! Delicious food, reasonably priced with a glorious view of the sea! Call ahead to make sure they are serving! 4. The new Tulip Tearooms in Bridge offer old-fashioned hospitality and irresistible cakes in the midst of a busy florists shop! 5. Cuddle up on a cosy sofa for two with your favourite alcoholic beverage at the Curzon Cinema in Canterbury - feel free to stroll out to the bar for a top-up mid-movie! 6. Cathedral services are free and the music is always amazing! The Archbishop is in residence at Easter and Christmas; an hilarious 'last night of the proms-esque' carol singing fiesta takes place in the city centre on Christmas Eve - come for a programme waving, knee-dipping sing-song! Early pre-theatre dinner menus are available at Cafe des Amis and Dems. Or after a spectacularly spooky ghost tour with Canterbury's resident 'Ghost Hunter' (book online and meet in St Margaret's Street) calm your nerves with a calorific dessert and/or hot chocolate in Creams. 8. Jazz at The George, Stone Street every Thursday at 8.15pm - real ale and good food! 9. Fancy tripping the light fantastic? Swing Jive (for beginners upwards) at the Southcliff Hotel in Folkestone on Monday evenings from 7.00pm or fortnightly ballroom and latin tea dances at The Burstin Hotel, Folkestone - are you dancin'? 10. Feeling energetic? Try a swim and a roast on Sundays at the Hythe Imperial Hotel, Hythe We haven't tried it yet but our guests tell us the Dover Sea Safari is amazing! Other, more sedate, boat trips are available! Archived from 2018: 1. In beautiful weather you can't beat a sea swim at Kingsdown near Deal where the Zetland Arms is right on the beach! If you're not a sea-bather/channel swimmer but the sun's shining and you fancy a dip try the outdoor (heated) pool at Faversham (seasonal). 2. Sondes Tea House at Sellindge - delicious food and vegan options to eat and all sorts of funky bits and bobs to buy! 3. More of the Harbour Arm in Folkestone has been renovated through the winter including the old Folkestone Harbour railway station - it's better than ever! Beautiful on a sunny evening! 4. Current favourite breakfast spot is Cafe Solo in Canterbury (Wincheap, A28) - so good and excellent value. 5. On a sunny day you can't beat brunch on the beach at Griggs of Hythe. Need to burn some calories? Hire a rowing boat on the Hythe Royal Military Canal. 6. Panoramic views of Dover Harbour and Castle from the Hythe Bay fish restaurant in Dover - we love the balcony bar and the fish is fantastic! 7. Fancy a sneaky safari? Take the footpath alongside the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway station and eventually you will pass through Port Lympe wild animal park - don't be surprised to spot a giraffe through the trees! 8. Fab fish and chips at Hythe from the Park Road Fish Bar! Maybe on the way home from the safari ... 9. Either an ice-cream (closest is a McFlurry from the bottom of the hill) or an alcoholic beverage and salty snack (from Sainsburys next door to MacDonalds) taken to the top of the cliff at Capel - fabulous views of the channel and amazing star-gazing when it's clear! 10. Take a walk along the iconic White Cliffs Way at Dover - stop to examine the Fan Bay Deep Shelter and then tea at the South Foreland Lighthouse before retracing your steps. On a clear day you can see forever! But don't go too close to the edge ... Archived from 2017: Coming in ahead of first place (it was that good!) our new favourite for 2017 is Reculver; visit the Roman Fort and then slip across to see Elwyn the genial host of the Reculver Cafe (not quite Roman but built in 1902 - open til 3ish at weekends; earlier on week days) and enjoy a taste of bygone days. All day breakfasts, egg and chips, toast and marmite; excellent value and great service - a big mug of tea is £1. If you want to walk it off you are a stone's throw from the Saxon Shore Way. There is a public car park (pay and display) or if you are lucky you can squeeze in to the lane next door. 1. Fish and Chips on the beaches at Hythe, Whitstable or Herne Bay; or our current favourite is The Deep Blue, Wincheap, Canterbury (enormous portions for sharing and great value!) 2. Afternoon tea at Tiny Tim's, Canterbury (the 'Hairy Bikers' loved it!) before or after Evensong in the Cathedral (check website for times - weekends are different). Get there early if you want to try a 'Plump Pilgrim'! Kent teas and coffees from Pluckley - our favourite is the smoky Russian Caravan! 3. Coffee and fresh doughnuts after a windy walk at Whitstable - you know you are near by the lovely smell! If seafood is more your thing - they still cook the famous Whelks at Wests on the harbour side. Whitstable is equally famous for its oysters - kick back and relax at the Oyster Fishery or Wheelers in the High Street. 4. Watch the sun set at Farthing Common 'the top of the world!' - or from your private balcony outside the Little Hayloft. 5. Walk or cycle the Great Stour Way - Chartham to Canterbury; or the Saxon Shore Way - Reculver to Margate if you're feeling energetic - ask us for maps! 6. Walk into Elham village and have supper at one of the pubs or the Abbots Fireside (borrow a torch for the walk home!) The pubs normally stop serving at 8pm - earlier at the weekend. 7. Hire mountain bikes and book a guide at Fowlmead Country Park - a disused open cast mine with great views over Royal St George's golf course at Sandwich. 8. We love a good breakfast! Now available at Macfarlane's Garden Centre (now renamed Folkestone Garden Cente but still as good)! 9. Take a tasting tour at Shepherd Neame brewery in Faversham (Britain's oldest brewer - since 1689) - check the dates for the annual autumn Hop Festival weekend. 10. Sip a glass of Champagne at the end of the Harbour Arm in Folkestone (seasonal) - you might also spot Dave the Dolphin (who's actually a porpoise - and a girl - but the name stuck)! The famous Rock Salt restaurant is also nearby - you do need to book (or try the Smokehouse next door for a more relaxed Fish and Chip supper) 11. If you're brave enough check out the Ossuary at St Leonard's Church, Hythe ... 12. Visit the Elham Valley Vineyard and sample their delicious menus - wait a minute? Number 12? We could go on ... okay we will .... 13. Hire a canoe at The George and Dragon pub at Fordwich (Britain's smallest town) and paddle the Stour to the Grove Ferry Inn. The Grove Ferry is also the starting point for a lovely circular walk through the Stodmarsh Nature Reserve. Boat trips available in summer. 14. Drive a 36-ton train on a private track through the Kent countryside. Start the day with a filling cooked breakfast then learn to drive an ex-military train. Don't forget your camera! We are always looking out for new tea rooms, walks, things to see and do (the research is soooooo hard) but come and see for yourselves; you'll never be bored in East Kent! Short of time? Potter along the old railway line which is now the Elham Valley Way. Do check listings for the Marlowe and Gulbenkian Theatres in Canterbury or the cinema in Faversham is only a fiver! George's Turkish restaurant in Preston Street is great too ...and we're off again!

Apple Tree Corner with its 9 acres of land is a luxurious, fully-equipped studio with full kitchen and breathtaking views. Huge bathroom with twin tub looking out on an area of outstanding natural beauty. Enjoy land including orchard and grazing for lambs and horses. Explore the nearby attractions of Canterbury, close to Channel Tunnel. After a day enjoying the local beaches and attractions, relax and cook a meal in the beautiful living space or head to the local great pub 15 mins walk away.
APPLE TREE CORNER IS A GREAT PLACE TO SELF ISOLATE AS WE ARE VERY REMOTE AND WE DO NOT NEED TO MEET YOU AS WE HAVE SELF CHECKING IN. ALSO WE STERILISE EVERYTHING EACH CHANGEOVER SO YOU CAN BE SURE ALL SURFACES ARE SAFE. THE PERFECT SPOT DURING THESE DIFFICULT TIMES SO COME AND STAY FOR LOTS OF WALKS AND ISOLATION!! Apple Tree Corner is a luxurious entirely self-contained studio home, sleeping two people, perfect for couples and also business travellers. Adjoining the studio space there is a large luxurious bathroom with incredible views and a bath deep enough to share, (bubble bath provided!). Within the studio space there is a fully equipped kitchen with induction hob, fridge and dishwasher, very comfortable bed and exclusive use of the extensive gardens. It was recently built and has its own dedicated entrance and private off street parking. A romantic spot for couples but also suitable for business travellers with self check in if required. Space for laptops and WiFi is provided. ****One of our more recent guests (November 18) found it so romantic that he proposed to his girlfriend there and then! We are delighted to say she said YES!**** Apple Tree Corner is on a quiet and secluded lane near the friendly and historic village of Wootton in the stunning Kent countryside. It is in a designated Area of Outstanding Beauty and you can enjoy the peace and the views that this brings. Pheasants, rabbits and badgers roam around and can often be seen. With a comfortable bed and a hotel style bathroom with walk in shower as well as the twin tub this peaceful and well designed spot is perfect for unwinding; a great find. The fully equipped kitchen provides a home away from home; enjoy tea and breakfast in the morning or chilled wine in the evening on the grounds. On a clear night the stars are very bright - there are great dark skies and by opening out the wide bifold doors you can watch the stars from bed! A choice of outdoor areas means a variety of spots where you can relax outside, perhaps in the orchard with its incredible views (help yourself to apples and pears), or in the hammock in the private garden. During the winter the studio is a cosy and welcoming spot; share a deep bubble bath while admiring the views across the valley. As well as sheep and horses in the fields, you'll often find pheasants wandering through the property, often right outside the windows and bifolds. The surrounding fields attract buzzards which you can often see wheeling high above you on thermal currents, and hear their plaintive, long 'peeee-uu' calls. Also in the air you can regularly see Spitfires passing over the house. A continental style breakfast is supplied for the first night of your stay and there is plenty of tea, coffee and cooking essentials in the cupboards. The property is just a 15/20 minute drive to Eurotunnel, Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone and the High Speed Rail to London takes around 45 mins. You will be hosted by Richard and Julia who live on site.
The apartment is near an extensive network of footpaths and bridle ways, several golf courses and riding schools. The cathedral city of Canterbury is a 15-minute drive away, offering sightseeing and a huge variety of shops and restaurants.

Built in the 1600s, Miller's Barn looks on to one of Kent's last working windmills. It's on the Minnis, where cattle and sheep graze. An idyllic and tranquil spot, 8 miles from the historic city of Canterbury. The Miller's Barn is only 500m from a great pub (with fabulous fish n' chips) and a very friendly, well stocked village shop which has everything you may need during your stay. The windmill is open every Sunday and bank holidays throughout the summer for guided tours and cream teas.
There is a pretty double aspect, double bedroom. The mezzanine level has two single beds, the ceilings in here are very low, so it's perfect for children although some have squeezed six adults in as there is also a sofa bed in the sitting room. We have plenty of fluffy towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash, so you can leave all that at home.
12 minutes from Canterbury 20 minutes from the channel tunnel in Folkestone 25 minutes from Dover 2 hours into London by train There is a bus (no. 18) which stops at the bottom of the lane, if you ask it to and goes into Canterbury regularly.

Only 15 mins from the Port of Dover by car. 25 mins from the Eurotunnel entrance. Close to many beautiful Kentish spots. A small single room in my home as a perfect stop over for the night or base to explore from. Note: This is my second room. Better suited for single occupancy. There are Dogs & Cats in the house. (Very Friendly we promise!) Just off the A2 in the quiet village of Shepherdswell.
A bungalow house with off road parking On the North Downs Way for walkers! And the Via Francigéna.
There are no places to eat in the village. Pubs that serve food are a short drive away or the Co-Op convenience store is at the bottom of the village. Shepherdswell is a small old Kent village. Sat on the North Downs Way. A stop for the East Kent (Steam) Railway.

    Saskia2019-11-13T00:00:00Z

The oldest part of Grade 2 " listed Barham Court dates from .1400, while the current facade was built in 1723. The house and garden were renovated by famous architect Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1911, and beautiful countryside is right on your doorstep
Beautiful Barham Court is a stunning well preserved example of English heritage. At the centre of the house is a large paneled dining hall with fireplace. From the entrance hall you proceed through the piano room to the grand central hallway, with wood panels and sweeping staircase. Upstairs are the living quarters with modern bathrooms and comfortable beds. Arguably, the highlight of the house is the garden and terrace , which we encourage our guests to use as much as they like. The house is in the heart of the village but with direct access to beautiful countryside.
Barham is a charming old village between Canterbury and Dover. The excellent local country pub serving great food and English ales is a 2 minute walk away. The house adjoins the local 14th Century church. The village is set in the beautiful Elham valley with lovely walking and cycling close by and there are several other excellent country pubs and restaurants in easy reach . It is an easy drive to Canterbury, Dover and to the Kent Coast We can give you lots of maps and information on things to see and do during your stay with us.

Our large detached house stands in 5 acres of grounds surrounded by open farmland in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the North Kent Downs. Within half hour drive of Eurotunnel, Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone and High Speed Rail to London takes under an hour.
If you like space around you and animals, you'll like it here! We have a very friendly dog who lives with us in the house, two ponies who live in our adjoining paddock, chickens which roam our grounds and provide us with amazing eggs and bees which of course provide us with delicious honey. We also have a very friendly cat who lives at our stables. We have one double room with en-suite bathroom, plus two other single rooms with standard sized 3' single beds (which can be made into two twins) with a shared private bathroom, so we can comfortably accommodate a family. Please note that this listing is for one single room - if you want to book multiple rooms or the double room please see the separate listings: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/3014436 and 3014311 or let me know your requirements in your enquiry and I'll make you a special offer. Breakfast is included in the price and you can try our lovely free range eggs from our hens, along with cereals, toast, yoghurt, fresh fruit in season/dried fruit, our own honey and homemade jams.
Wootton is a very small village, but with an active, sociable community. There are under 200 people who live here, but we have an ancient church and a beautiful wooden village hall which is used for village events and occasionally for weddings. Our nearest pub is the famous Jackdaw at Denton which is about a mile away down the hill. Our lovely single track lanes are surrounded by open farmland and are often used by cyclists, horseriders and walkers. If all the peace and quiet get too much however, we are within easy reach of the Kent coast as well as the historic city of Canterbury, and the high speed rail link from Folkestone gets you to London in under an hour.

We live on the outskirts of the new build development in a quiet cul de sac which makes it peaceful. If you don't want to go too far afield, there is a large Co-op in the centre of the village, a 10-15 minute walk away. There is also a Post Office, beauty salon, pet shop, doctors surgery and pharmacy and a few cafes and take aways. There are also some lovely walks just at the end of the cul de sac where you can walk in fields with or without pets. No Cleaning Fees! Colourful room with large desk, comfy chair and single bed, overlooking wooded area. The cottage, built 1733, has not been overly modernised, but has central heating, modern shower/wetroom, and Wifi - and a very friendly Jack Russell! Due to steps and stairs, not suitable for people with limited mobility. Please note there's only one parking space (on my neighbours' drive), but there's a layby 100 m from the house. Bus stop about 300 m away. Ideal base to explore East Kent.
A relatively large, simply furnished room with single bed in a large cottage. The house has not been overly modernised, but has central heating, modern shower/wetroom, and Wifi. This room has secondary glazing, and is fully carpeted. Please note there is no wardrobe in this room, but there is a rail where you can hang things up. It also has a nice big desk with a comfortable chair. The duvet and pillow are filled with feathers, and I'm afraid I have no synthetic ones. We have a piano and a big garden. Towels, toiletries and a hairdryer are provided. Some guests find the staircase rather steep - this house is not suitable for people with mobility problems. Breakfast is included: tea, coffee, fruit juice, cereal, porridge, and / or as much toast and eggs as you can eat - though I'll happily provide other things if you give me enough warning :-) We have a Jack Russel...she's very friendly, but this is not a good place for someone who doesn't like dogs! National Express coaches (to London Victoria) are usually much cheaper but take about two hours.
East Kent is stuffed full of history! From the Romans and Vikings, through the Normans and Tudors, to the Napoleonic and World Wars, this corner of England has always been of huge importance. The most important thing to see is of course Canterbury Cathedral, but then there's the White Cliffs of Dover, Whitstable, Broadstairs, Sandwich, Faversham, and dozens of pretty villages with picturesque pubs with good local beer and food! There are also dozens of castles and gardens which are open to the public. Kent is "The Garden of England"; there's very little industry, and it's mainly agricultural. Canterbury, however, has an extremely high student population, and is a very busy, vibrant city, still retaining some of its medieval streets. There is also a large modern shopping centre. The coast is within a half hour drive of Littlebourne to the north, east and south. All the seaside areas and towns around the coast are very different; there are vast sandy beaches, massive chalk cliffs, fishing towns, acres of sand dunes and mudflats, and Victorian seaside resorts with the original piers.

The Old Wash House is set in the heart of the village of Littlebourne. There is on street parking if you're driving and a frequent bus service which runs into Canterbury and Sandwich every 20 minutes from right outside the property if you're not! You are a 5 minute drive from Canterbury with its rich history, art and culture, great shopping and restaurants and dining. The coast is just a 20 minute drive away too. The Old Wash House is good for couples, solo adventurers and business travellers.
The Old Wash House was built in the 19th century and was the place where the Victorian occupants did their washing! It is now a studio cottage with three rooms: one main living area which doubles up as a sleeping area at night, a small kitchen with hob, microwave and fridge (with ice box) and a bathroom with WC, basin and brand new shower. The Old Wash House was newly decorated in April 2017 with brand new kitchen and bathroom areas.
We have a Labrador (Flo) and two cats (Ted and Jack) who live in the main house with us and subsequently are often in the garden area. They always love to be made a fuss of and we are always more than happy for you to play with them! In Flo's eyes, there is no such thing as too much pay time! However, if you are not animal friendly, please let us know when booking and we will do our utmost to keep them inside so they do not bother you during your stay.

Nestled in forest, this fairy-tale wooden cottage offers privacy, fun, romance, open fires and garden, 5 min walk to village family pub and spectacular woodland walks all round.. Close to World Heritage Site of Canterbury with its wealth of history, cathedral, excitement, restaurants and fun for all ages. At 18 min from the Channel Tunnel by car it is ideal for day trips to France. Close to A2 on which you can reach Dover for the castle, beaches are numerous within 20 min. St Pancras 56 min.
A unique combination of history and the modern, this wooden cottage used to be where the gardener for the Old Rectory resided, part of it dating back to 1836. Whilst it is part of a community of 3 buildings over 13 acres, it has it's own driveway through an avenue of trees and surrounded completely by its own garden laid to lawn, beach hedging and apple trees. With 4 doors to the outside, one of which leads from the glass/wooden conservatory, there are constant opportunities to enjoy the country life.
The village of Barham is a thriving community and has its own school, shop (selling a large range of locally produced and useful items), pub and is connected to a good bus system into Canterbury and Folkstone. Steeped in history, Barham is also majestically beautiful with its rolling hills and fields, infamous walks through woods and vineyards. Very rare to combine the rural, woodland experience with the fast pace , buzz and excitement within minutes.

Welcome to Blandred Farm Shepherd’s Hut, a luxury camping experience in the idyllic village of Acrise, an area of ‘Outstanding Natural Beauty’. If you’re looking for a getaway to escape the everyday and indulge yourself in panoramic views, open sky sunsets and the tranquillity of the Kent countryside, then we invite you to experience this for yourselves.
Blandred Farm is both a working farm and home to our family who have owned this farm for almost 50 years but have been farming for generations. Here on our farm we are extremely fortunate to be surrounded by breath-taking landscapes ranging from sloping hills, endless natural grasslands, rich woodlands and an unspoilt coastline only a 15-minute drive from the Shepherd’s hut. We also are hugely enthusiastic about the natural world and wildlife and so are extremely proud to share our home with a diverse range of plants, animals and insects. The fields, hedgerows and trees are commonly home to owls, hares, hedgehogs, pheasants and butterflies to name just a few. Whilst our hut follows the traditional design that has been used by shepherds for hundreds of years, we have also kitted it out with a few simple luxuries for your added comfort. Our hut features: A comfy double bed  An en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet and heated towel rail A glass-fronted log burner  A two ring electric hob A fridge A Kadai Fire Pit® with grill and skillet for barbecuing  Also provided: Towels 100% linen bedding Logs for wood burner and fire pit  Washing up liquid, sponges, tea towels Salt, pepper and cooking oil Cooking equipment and utensils Cutlery and crockery Kettle and cafetiere Toaster Jars of tea, instant coffee and ground coffee Milk To make the most of the beautiful surrounding scenery we decided to add an adjoining raised deck, seating two chairs and a table. Not only has it doubled the floor space, it also has created the perfect spot to dine or unwind on a warm evening, treating you to a panoramic view of the accompanying landscape and the sunset.
Despite being tucked away in the peacefulness of the countryside, we are only an approximately 20 minute drive from the historic city of Canterbury, a 12 minute drive from the coastal town of Folkestone, and 15 minutes from the port of Dover.  We are also very fortunate to be surrounded by an abundance of footpaths and cycling routes, making for wonderful walking adventures or cycle rides. We are spoilt with a wide range of places to eat from local country pubs to all kinds of restaurants in the nearby towns and city. Our local pub, The Jackdaw, is located in the heart of the village of Denton, a charming, popular and traditional country pub that is only an approximately 8 minute drive from the hut.

In the heart of the Kent countryside, Beau View Cottage is ideally placed if you want to get out on foot and explore the footpaths and walks all around. The local pub is just a five-minute stroll away, while the pretty village of Bridge is accessible on foot too. There are cycle routes to explore and the owners will happily provide a gentleman’s and a lady’s bicycle for an extra fee. The semi-detached cottage is cosy and comfortable, with an open plan living area on the ground floor and the floor to ceiling windows creating a light and airy space. With some of the country’s most popular tourist attractions nearby, such as Canterbury Cathedral and the seaside town of Whitstable, Beau View Cottage is a delightful base to come home to after a full day out and about. This holiday at a glance: Sleeps two guests. One double bedroom. Bathroom with enclosed shower. Enclosed garden. WiFi. Parking for one car. Sorry, no children. One well behaved dog welcome. Minimum two night stay. Additional features: Electric oven and hob. Fridge/freezer. Microwave. Washing machine. Television with Freeview and DVD player. Radio and CD player. Garden furniture. Barbecue. Bicycles available to hire. Attractions and nearby amenities: Canterbury Cathedral is a magnificent building that is a World Heritage Site as well as being a holy place. Visitors have been making pilgrimages here since the Middle Ages. The building has an overwhelming majesty but it’s beautiful on a small scale too. There are lots of fascinating details to look out for – from the ‘Adam delving’ stained glass window to the carvings of the shields in the cloisters. The River Stour is a beautiful lazy river that wends its way through the South East. The artist John Constable painted many views along the river stretches, and one unique way to enjoy this special landscape is to take a punt from Westgate Punts. You can leave the hard work to the boatman! Howletts is a wildlife park that is home to over 400 animals, including elephants, tigers and monkeys. There are even giant anteaters. You can listen to talks from the experts, watch animals being fed and visit the education centre. If you’re planning to spend the day exploring Canterbury, The Marlowe Theatre is worth a visit even if you haven’t got tickets for a performance. This large theatre was recently redeveloped and is an impressive, contemporary building. You can enjoy a tasty snack or meal at The Green Room. Here’s another must while you’re in Canterbury. You can walk alongside Chaucer’s famous pilgrims at the Canterbury Tales and watch them perform episodes from the famous stories. Travel all the way with the pilgrims and a guide will escort you to the shrine of St Thomas Becket. St. Augustine’s Abbey was founded in around 597 AD and was originally a burial place for Anglo Saxon kings. Outside the city walls of Canterbury, it’s well worth a visit – you can don virtual reality headsets to see what life would have been like here back in the 16th century. Oyster lovers need look no further. Whitstable is famous for its daily catch. But if you’re not a fan of the bivalve it’s still worth coming out to the coast. There are lots of independent shops and galleries here, and the town has a quirky character that’s really quite unique. For additional inspiration on what to do within the area, please click here.

Breakfast is included in the price and you can try our lovely free range eggs from our hens, along with cereals, toast, yoghurt, fresh fruit in season/dried fruit, our own honey and homemade jams.
Wootton is a very small village, but with an active, sociable community. Our nearest pub is the famous Jackdaw at Denton which is about a mile away down the hill. Our lovely single track lanes are surrounded by open farmland and are often used by cyclists, horseriders and walkers.
