Parque
“The most popular nearby attraction is, of course, the Grand Canyon National Park. There are 2 routes to get to the South Rim. The usual route is west (turn R) along Highway 89 and then north at Valle along Highway 64; the Park entrance is 70 miles (110km - about 1 ¼ hours) through the ponderosa pine forest and then the high desert. In the summer, try to arrive early as there can be a substantial wait at the park entrance. Incidentally, there is a nice historic aircraft museum at Valle, but it might be best to visit it on another day to allow more time at the Canyon. - An alternative route is east to Highway 89 and then north to Highway 64 West, about 85 miles (135km - 1 ½ hours). This route provides good views of the San Francisco Peaks and the San Francisco Volcanic Field and the high desert. The Cameron Trading Post, just past the Highway 64 turnoff, is an interesting stop for souvenirs (don’t miss the Gallery of antique Native American crafts on the north side of the parking lot), and their famous “Navajo taco” makes a good filling lunch. The Park entrance here may be less crowded, but the Visitor Center and Grand Canyon Village is another 25 miles along the Canyon rim through the Park. ”
