Mercado
“Located in the historic downtown Amherst NS. The large retail structure has been a pillar in the community since 1906. In Jan. Of 2016 the century old store closed its doors and sat idle for 9 months. The building with the sweeping staircase and tin ceilings was given new life again in the fall when it opened to Maritime Mosaic. It now is the home to 7 business with more to follow. A Unique Destination for shoppers has been renamed dayles grand market. Once again we can say. ” where the floors creak and the smiles are genuine. ”

“Now in Sackville at 14 York St. - yes, its name (and much of its aesthetic) is inspired by Kate Bush. Mostly women’s vintage denim, leather and more, though there are also options for men. Charming shop with a friendly atmosphere. ”

Home Goods Store
“The quilt shop is Mrs. Pugsley’s Emporium. The owner is Beth Munroe. Beth, who’s Mrs. Pugsley? Well, here’s the story. I’m a pharmacist and, in 2001, I bought the business known as Pugsley’s Drug Store in Amherst. Along with the business came the beautiful, historic building known as the Clock Tower. Pugsley’s Drug also sold gifts. To keep the giftware merchandise separate from the pharmacy, that portion of the business was known as Mrs. Pugsley’s Emporium. In 2012, she sold the pharmacy business but kept the building and Mrs. Pugsley’s Emporium. We have many fine artisans in Amherst and a big Fiber Arts festival every October. But we did not have a quilt shop. So, in 2013, Mrs. Pugsley’s Emporium became a quilt shop. You must stop by if only to check out the interior of this historic and significant building. ”
