River & jungle view in the heart of a little village in the foothills of the Mountain Pine Ridge. 3.5 miles from San Ignacio. Private deck, & outdoor kitchen facilities. We are a non-smoking property. The casita is fully screened.

The Lime Tree Casita is a stand-alone cabin - lovingly built by hand, by us and some local friends & neighbors. It was initially meant to be a guest house for family & friends, but everyone said it was too special not to share with others!

The building is made of local hardwoods and local pine from Mountain Pine Ridge. The casita is fully screened. There is a custom-made mahogany queen bed and hardwood night stands. The covered deck overlooks the property with a peak at the Macal River and hillside beyond. There are birds everywhere & of every kind!

There is a separate outdoor kitchen/dining area for the private use of our guests. It is not inside the cabin - as just boiling water would heat the entire room! Even our own kitchen is 'outside.' :-) The outdoor kitchen is a few steps away from the casita.

Disponible para huéspedes

Guests have access to the 1.5 acre property, which includes a genuine Mayan mound (yes, you WILL find Mayan pottery, guaranteed!) but you have to leave it behind.

Other features include an outdoor dining area/kitchen with a full-size frig and grill. There is also a sink and 4-burner gas stove. Plans are to eventually add a wood burning oven.

We've recently added two raised garden beds where we grow herbs and vegetables. You are welcome to anything ready to harvest! Herbs growing include, basil (several varieties), parsley, marjoram, oregano, garlic chives, tarragon, lemon balm, dill, catnip, sage, rosemary & mint! Veggies include tomatoes, onions, lettuce, hot peppers, and more!

The casita has a spacious private covered deck, with a hammock, dining table/4 chairs and extra lounge seating for two. There is also a private stone courtyard area.

There is a 2-person kayak available at no extra charge, as well as two inner tubes for use on the Macal River - which is in our backyard!

Atención a los huéspedes

If you don't rent a car we can help you arrange transportation from the airport.

We have three dogs that have full access to the property - and Milo (the youngest and largest dog) likes to spend time with guests on the deck....

We are early risers, and can usually be found on our deck each morning sipping coffee. There is a french press & coffee beans available in the outdoor kitchen for you (no extra charge). We grind the beans each morning, ready for you to brew when you're ready. Usually, our guests' tours take them away from the property most of the day - but we are usually around to answer questions, provide directions, etc.

If it's privacy you want - we are fine with that. If you want to chat about Belize, we're up for that too. If you want to experience the local flavor, we can certainly provide recommendations!

Belize requires all legal accommodations to be licensed. Our License # is 2078. There are a LOT accommodations here that are not licensed (a few in our village) - so please ask before booking, if the listing doesn't mention the BTB license#.

Please note that we are required to collect 9% sales tax upon your arrival. AirBnB does not collect the tax nor adds it to the price of the reservation. If we added the tax to the room rate, you would pay AirBnB's commission on it and we don't think that's fair. We do not charge any additional cleaning fees, service fees or automatic gratuities.

No open flames permitted in/near the casita. Also, no food, drinks, wrappers, etc., permitted inside the casita. This is a jungle and the jungle bugs (mostly ants) LOVE food and have an amazing jungle communication network to share new sources of food with!

We are a member of 'Pack for a Purpose' - we collect donated supplies for two local organizations - Cayo Animal Welfare Society and the Cristo Rey R.C. Village School. If you are interested in packing some supplies for either of these organizations, let us know and we'll refer you to our website with a list of needed items.

Cristo Rey Village is in the jungle region of Belize. While this provides incredible beauty and natural wonders, it also means that heat, humidity, sudden tropical squalls, power outages and water outages are not uncommon (However, we do have a back-up generator, and back-up water pump).

We have recently upgraded our free wi-fi service on the property and in the casita. The service is now available everywhere on the property. It is fast and reliable on all devices we & our guests have tested/used!

We strive for a calm, serene & relaxing environment; and most of the time it is just that. However, the local birds are very active as daylight breaks, and the Howler Monkeys can be a bit startling at night. We are also in the middle of a small, but active village. Sometimes the neighboring roosters, dogs, church music, etc. can be heard. For those guests who are extremely noise sensitive please keep these things in mind.

We don't really like rules, but to make everyone's experience better there are a few expectations that are important to know.

Please note that this is a totally non-smoking property.

We have three dogs, they are all friendly, and if you are a 'dog-person' you will LOVE them!

Rooms will be cleaned & sheets/towels replaced etc., after three nights, unless otherwise arranged in advance. There will be an additional charge if additional cleaning, towels, etc., are requested.

We don't mind extra people on the property as long as we know in advance about any extra guests you plan to invite to our property (even if just to visit). We cannot accommodate more than two overnight guests, so please do not invite additional guests to stay overnight. We don't mind small get-togethers, BBQs, etc... - but please, no loud or large parties, etc....

Please note that an Accommodation tax of 9% is not included in the quoted rates, and AirBnB does not include them in your total. We will collect the tax upon your arrival. (HINT: If a Belize lodging owner is not collecting this tax, they are most likely not licensed by the Belize Tourism Board).

Liability insurance is not required in Belize, so please note that you are responsible for your well-being while in country.

Aspectos que también debes tener en cuenta
Puede haber ruido - Nature sounds including; Howler monkeys, parrots, toucans, frogs, dogs, cicadas, roosters and other nature sounds....
Hay mascotas en la propiedad - We have three dogs - They are very friendly and quiet and only bark to 'alert' when someone/thing new arrives on the property.

Jeff and Cheryl were the bests hosts I've encountered. The guides they recommended were great, and they were generous in the amount of time they took to inform me of all the local things to do and see. And also generous with their amazing garden!

Thank you for the feedback! And I'm glad we were able to help you with getting tours booked even after you moved on to another AirBnB host :-) No worries - Feel free to call on us while you're here - we are happy to help with whatever we can.

If you are traveling to the San Ignacio, Belize area, Jeff and Cheryl's place in Cristo Rey is where you want to be! They are amazing hosts and I know my review won't do them justice. From the great chat we had at check-in to the morning conversations over local coffee we feel like we have known them for years. They know the ins and outs of all things to do locally and how to get there. We had a rental car so we were able to drive to all of the great spots to eat and visit but Jeff and Cheryl can help with transportation if you don't have a rental. The local village has some of the best food I've had in years at a price that can't be beat! We drove to the caves and toured them, swam in the cave pools, swam in the waterfalls, and saw the 1000' waterfalls. It was a full day but totally worth it (and all within driving distance). I would definitely recommend if you rent to get something either 4WD or AWD as some of the roads are a bit rough and rocky at times. Jeff and Cheryl have a 2 person kayak that we used to go up the river and then floated back down where we saw 2 howler monkeys in the trees along the river. We visited the local Mayan ruins and the view from the top is amazing. You can see into Guatemala from the top of the tallest ruin. The lodge we stayed in was perfect. Comfortable bed, great shower, and we loved using the binoculars to see local birds and scan the trees for monkeys. We can't wait for our next trip to Belize and hopefully we will be able to stay with Jeff and Cheryl again as they truly know the meaning of hosting and living the dream! Thank you guys!!!

We absolutely loved Cheryl & Jeff's place! We were coming from an island and it was a perfect change. We stayed 3 nights and would have liked to stayed longer. There is a lot to do in the area and even though we rented a car we weren't able to see everything in cristo rey and it's surroundings. San Ignacio is about a 12 minute bumpy, but very scenic car ride. We absolutely enjoyed their property and the view from the deck. Kayaking up the river was another plus they offered. And a bigger plus is Cheryl and Jeff themselves, they are absolutely one of the best hosts we have had! Super attentive and so helpful. They helped us schedule a last minute tour for a very affordable price. They have a folder in the room with all kinds of recommendations and tips, super organized! We really enjoyed every single minute of our stay and would be delighted to stay again. Thank you!!

Lucky Dreamers is a little piece of jungle heaven! The room is a great place for 2 - bed is very comfy, shower/bathroom is clean and the balcony is the best part. Perfect view of the jungle and river - so many birds and monkey sightings. Jeff & Cheryl are so nice and helpful and will set you up with tours of all the things to see in Cayo District. We did the ATM cave tour with Gonzo (River Rat) & Mountain Pine Ridge with Rick - which were both amazing and we had our own personal tour guides (with the help from Cheryl and Jeff). They were also nice enough to give us a ride in town (San Ignacio) and show us great places to eat. It's an easy bus ride/shuttle ($1/2 BZ) or a taxi is $20 BZ. There is a small grocery store across the street - you can usually find what you need, not necessarily what you want. If you are looking for affordable, jungle stay, with amazing hosts (including their cute dogs) close to San Ignacio - look no further. This was our honeymoon and I celebrated my 30th Birthday and I can't imagine a better place to be!!! BOOK NOW!

Lovely little cottage tucked away in the jungle. We had such a wonderful time...excellent hosts, clean and cute cottage, wonderful jungle sounds!! If you're concerned about no AC, don't be, because it was the perfect sleeping temperature at night. We highly recommend this place for a special, secluded, peaceful stay!

Cheryl and Jeff are great hosts. They will make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. They have a transportation business too if you need that. They had coffee for us every morning and were always giving us places to eat, things to do. They have several connections throughout the country if you need tours set up. But if you want to just do things on your own, I would recommend just saying that up front and they will respect your requests. Overall a very great place to stay, and we would definitely go back there if we're ever in San Ignacio again!

We (Jeff & Cheryl) moved to the 'wilds' of Belize from the 'wilds' of Minnesota in 2014. Since moving to Belize we purchased some land on the Macal River, built our own home, and one guest casita (so far).

We have extensive experience in the hospitality industry with over 33 years of combined experience at Walt Disney World and another 10+ years of joint experience in owning our own restaurant, herb farm and Bed & Breakfast in the states. We definitely know what it means to exceed our guests' expectations!

We're pretty laid back, and can spend as much or as little time interacting with you as you want. We are happy to answer any questions you have about the area - even before booking with us. But of course, we'd love to have you choose us as your Belize destination in the Cayo region!
