This is a good street in a neighbourhood to be cautious in at night. A security guard spent both nights (all night) riding around on his bicycle blowing a loud whistle which was reassuring on the one hand and noisy on the other. Jose was a very nice host. He showed us the local neighbourhood and was very helpful, however he was not entirely honest about the construction work right above our heads from 6.30am until 6pm. Rubble fell through into the apartment through the atrium cavity which was protected by plastic sheeting that flapped around noisily with the slightest breeze, making sleep difficult. When the building work is done this should be a very nice set of apartments. For now I would recommend checking on the construction status. We were told there would be some plastering work. Loudest plasterers I ever heard! Drilling, hammering of concrete with bolster for hours. We did not enjoy it. When we queried Jose he did make sure the builders started after 8am on our second morning. Small mercies I guess after a night of listening to plastic flap up and down in the breeze. Stairway to construction area is also only barred by a loose cardboard flap which gave us some security issues as well. In the daytime we found a lovely local market and park and enjoyed our brief experience in the area.

Jose meet us at his apartment which was a nice touch. He also walked us to a restaurant which was super helpful since we do not know the neighborhood. The neighborhood has shady spots. We did enjoy eating locally at the food market. The apartment is well kept and has a two door security system. There are many dogs and cars which make the stay noisy. However, the back bed rooms block a good portion. It is not that close to the airport. It is about 30-35 mins away, which costed a little less than the cost of staying there.

Respuesta de Jose:
Hi Rayleen. I will take into account about providing towels once again, perhaps you wonder to yourself "once again" For sure, but this time I will add a call attention to the following visiting tourists who intend to book a reservation in the apartment in order to respect the regulations because we used to leave new towels on the beds (...and our first and latest clients can confirm that) but suddenly these disappeared when we did the cleaning up after the check-out or these were exchanged for old and torn ones. It happened the last week when a big group of students from California (USA) made the reservation and left the apartment very early next day without my knowledge because of miscommunication by them. Therefore, we had to purchase new ones with another unit cost that is a slightly expensive (in comparison to buy dozens). So we want to believe in honesty one more time in our next clients, even so we find a broken glass in the garbage bin like we found it yesterday when cleaning up the apartment for the new american tenants. We all know communication is the basis of everything (and my phone numbers were written on a paper tag). In regard to the distance from the airport to the apartment, I will consider to add 15 minutes more next time if any visiting tourists try to get by themselves by taking a taxi inside the airport :) That's why I offer the pick-up service with a minivan (at any time) where I personally approach the airport to pick up my customers given that my driver and me know the way and the shortcuts to get in the right time to the apartment as we are locals and it involves on providing the best service from the first contact, because If you take a taxi inside the airport -first of all- they don't know the address very well and it will take time to figure out (or else they kill time in order to justify the high cost like they did with others customers who came to Peru for first time and shared their stories with me). Likewise, I remember that I sent you one message before your arrival to coordinate because I did not catch your flight number and the arrival time in Lima. I also did not get any response due to miscommunication (from the beginning to the sudden check-out which took me by surprise very late! :) and gave us little time to leave immaculate for the new booking on monday 6th). As for the coffee machine, that's a good suggestion! :D Either way, have a wonderful trip to Ecuador! Best regards.

Six of were travelling to Peru from the US and Lima was our first stop. I was sure to let Jose know of our arrival time (2:00AM) and he was completely understanding! I regret not requesting transportation with Jose earlier because we took the generic transportation service and were charged an inflated rate. The location was difficult to find because of all the small streets but eventually our driver called Jose for assistance. Jose actually walked to find our van at a central location (it was a long walk and late in the night ~3:15AM!) and directed us to the home once he hopped in. Once inside the home, we notice 2 gated doors, clean facilities, clean bathrooms, full kitchen and refrigerator, washer, separate rooms/2 per room, and WIFI. During our stay, there was construction (on-site) in the morning so that was one way to wake up. We also realized that we had a bit of a drive to central Lima and other tourist locations such as Mira Flores and Barranco BUT taxis were considerably cheap if you know how to set a good price so it wasn't too big of a problem. For the rest of the stay, Jose was just a phone call away. He made sure we were well taken care of. Once we had to depart early in the morning, he walked with us to find taxis and negotiated a fair price. We arrived to the airport on time! Overall, the location was great and Jose was very accomodating!

The following is a brief summary of the past 6 years of my life. It is a timeline of sorts that details where I’ve been, what I’ve been doing. Ultimately, it shows just how one ordinary person has so far managed to fund a lot of days straight of traveling and living abroad.

THE TIMELINE.
April 2009: I started working as bar waiter in cruise ships (Norwegian Pearl)

June 2011: Costa cruise line was my next goal and I was working for 8 months aboard.

August 2012: I decided to stop for a while with the ships and i was off to New Zealand to begin a new life. Actually, i made a choice to officially extend my trip because I didn't mean to come back to the bohemian life aboard, but...

November 2013: I returned to the ships. However, for this opportunity, Princess cruise line was my new home.

August 2014; I got to run my own travel agency.

April 2015: Guess what? I come back to the ships once again, always with the same position (bar waiter). My forth cruise line: the italian MSC.

August 2015: Came back to Peru and got to regain control of the track, leading to the success of the travel agency.

2016: Still managing the travel agency and Wasi Airport Apartment.
