Good info here for people who are novices to the Airbnb "sharing economy" concept - a fantastic trend reflected in the explosive growth of innovative businesses such as Relay Rides, Uber, Rover and so many others. Unlike a hotel or vacation rental business, probably 90% of the listings on Airbnb are indeed primary residences. Whether you are renting a private room and hanging out with your hosts or are able to rent the whole house/apt, it will be a HOME filled with warmth and hospitality. Some hosts, like us, very generously allow guests to use food staples and toiletries, to play with toys, and truly make themselves at home - so everyone, including parents(!) can actually relax while on vacation! We hope that our guests have the grace to appreciate this gift.
Like all the homes nearby, our "urban cottage" was built about 70 years ago and of course it relates perfectly to our beautiful neighborhood, and does not feel even remotely like a "bunker." (If this comment concerns you, please read the many other reviews - and perhaps be reassured by the fact that the house recently appraised at $1.1M). Rockridge is in the hills, with at least 50% of homes situated as ours is - a bit away from the street, in a garden, offering lovely quiet, privacy and charm.
