Follow the historic Camino Real de Tierra to the compound with the turquoise iron gate. Park next to the furthest gate, which faces the street, and enter your private tiny house through its own courtyard.
Newly painted, this adobe casita and its private courtyard face southeast and receive ample sunlight. White walls and three double windows, along with a skylight in the bathroom, create a bright and airy space. Saltillo tile floors, niches, a Mexican bathroom sink with calla lily design and colorful kitchen tile offer touches of traditional New Mexico style.
A 6’ solid stucco wall surrounds the courtyard, providing additional security and privacy, as well as a place to enjoy Santa Fe’s lovely weather with morning coffee, lunch al fresco or a glass of wine in the evening.
The kitchen is equipped with a full-size refrigerator, gas stove and oven, as well as a toaster, microwave, tea kettle, coffee maker, and double sink. It is also supplied with pots and pans, dinnerware and flatware, and almost everything you need for preparing meals.
The dining room includes a laptop-friendly dining table and two chairs.
Bedside tables, each with a reading lamp, are situated on either side of the comfortable queen-size bed and a large slipper chair is good for reading and relaxing.
The bathroom has a ventilation fan, wall storage unit and a small floor cabinet. The shower, with a Waterpik massaging shower head, is spacious and offers a strong jet of warm water. Organic non-GMO soaps and lotions, along with a sewing kit and first-aid necessities, are provided.
The casita works well for those with pet allergies. One guest with a severe allergy said she had no problems during her stay.
A small closet will accommodate shoes and hanging clothes, an adjacent dresser will hold additional clothing items, and a storage unit provides an multi-functional space for folded clothes, books, and other items.
The adobe walls help moderate extremes of heat and cold. A gas wall heater on a thermostat in the bedroom/sitting area allows you to heat the space to your comfort level, and a wall air conditioner with a thermostat and remote control keeps it cool during the summer.
Wireless internet is provided continually.
The Santa Fe River Trail is a few blocks north and will take you all the way to the Plaza and Canyon Road to the east or Frenchy's Field Park to the west. The Acequia Trail is a few blocks south and is great for going to Counterculture Cafe, Whole Foods, and The Railyard for the artists markets and farmers market.
The casita is 420 sq ft in size but contains all the features of a full-size home in its small footprint.
As one of our guests said in a private message, “I loved feeling at home here.”
Disponible para huéspedes
The entire casita, courtyard and parking are contained, private, and easily accessible without any need for contact with the hosts.
Guests have free parking just outside the casita.
A distinct address and dedicated mailbox are available for use at any time with notice to the host, and would be especially helpful for longer-term stays.
Atención a los huéspedes
We love to meet our guests, welcome them in person if their schedule permits, and then allow them their privacy. However, we live next door to the casita and can easily respond to requests. We also respond to text messages.
Otros aspectos destacables
The City of Santa Fe short term rental license number is “(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN).” This indicates that the casita has met the requirements and standards set by the City, as well as passing a fire prevention inspection.
The casita is set back from Agua Fria Street, which generates some noise during the day, but is generally quiet at night. A fan is provided for white noise and there is an air conditioning unit that can also be run on fan only. In my tests during the busiest traffic periods, the fan was effective in blocking noise as well as keeping the air circulating.
The home is not wheelchair accessible due to the limited clearance in interior doors, in the bathroom, and between walls and furniture. The casita is one-story and there are no steps so it might work for those with limited mobility who don’t use a wheelchair.
