This charming little place is at one end of a country home. At the other end live Marijn’s parents, a very nice, very pleasant and helpful senior citizen couple.
The accommodation itself is simple. The bathroom is modern with ample hot water. The place does not have a dishwasher which we (4 of us) found inconvenient but one can live with that.
The lighting in the place and the beds was adequate. There is a noisy grandfather clock in the living area that goes off every half hour. Its tick-tocking is unnecessary for reassurance that one is alive because the sheep and chicken do that job perfectly well - and every half hour too if not more frequently!
The garden is very well maintained with pretty little nooks and crannies that have tables and chairs. One could sit outside amidst the farm smells of sheep dung and insects and sip on tea or a cool drink on a hot day.
I don’t know which is the bigger disappointment - the lack of a working wifi connection or Marijn’s lack of communication about the wifi.
A password was provided. However, this password was for the wifi network in the main house. The wifi signal from the main house was intermittent at best if you were in the bathroom and non-existent at all other times.
There was a wifi extender with a strong signal in the cottage and like all extenders, it provided its own network from the main router but this usually has a separate password. Marijn’s father, a lovely and helpful man, did not know the password nor understand any of this.
It was disappointing that I messaged Marijn multiple times but got no reply when he obviously could not provide me with a password for the extender. It was inconvenient without wifi but we would have been more satisfied and happier customers if Marijn had at least been upfront in communicating to us that he did not have the password to the wifi extender network.
Overall, it is very pretty and I would consider going back again - if there is wifi.
