We stayed in Andreas place for 3 nights and really enjoyed it! Upon arrival, we received an upgrade to an apartment unit. It was huge and had a lovely private patio as well. We were in San Salvador for a Convention, so we weren't around the city much or even in the room a lot. Andrea did recommend a great Mexican restaurant basically across the street, and there was a really nice Supermarket about 10-15 minute walk away.
Everything seemed very clean, and I didn't feel uncomfortable using any of the provided items. When we walked around barefoot, we got a little dirt on our feet, but that's to be expected (we just left the flip flops in the other room a couple of times lol). This unit was separate from the hostel area, so I never saw that part. In the evenings there was music, activities and games going on in the main lobby till 11:00 pm. We could hear noise coming from there, it didn't bother me, but if you're a light sleeper you might note it. Also, it is clearly marked on their activities wall that things will be going on until 11:00 pm. Each night after 11:00, I was quite surprised by how quiet the neighborhood was. I didn't hear any cars, people, etc. We didn't eat at the cafe other than to grab a cup of coffee on the way out 1 morning. It was cheap and had caffeine : ) I would definitely consider staying here again when back in Salvador, and would recommend it too!
