It's great fun and very easy to dig up Tuatuas on Ninety Mile Beach. Bring them home and eat, steamed - delicious with fresh bread and butter and a cold beer.

Protea Park cottage is near to the east coast beaches, Rarawa and Henderson Bay, fantastic for diving, fishing, swimming and surfing. And if you drive through the forests of the west coast, especially at dusk or dawn, you are likely to see a herd or two of beautiful wild horses
It's an easy drive to Cape Reinga on sealed roads with little other traffic. Enjoy the wonders of Northland - take side trips to Spirits Bay, Te Hapua, Taupotupotu, Parengarenga, Scotts Point, the Bluff.
The East coast bays are amazing and the legendary and very dramatic 90 Mile Beach on the west coast is an absolute must to see with its wild wind and golden sand.
