Located just off the porch in a 1907 frame house, this room has high ceilings and a fireplace and is furnished with a full size bed, futon sofa, desk, and a private bathroom with shower. Guests are welcome to share meals and facilities at the Center for Human Science next door.

El lugar

… Not only is it practical -- furnished with a queen-sized bed, a desk with chair and lamp, a futon with an end table, a rocker, a large dresser, a closet with full-length mirror, and an ensuite bathroom with a shower--it is also very attractive.
… It sports a decorative fireplace with mantle, pictures on the walls, and a colorful area rug on a wood floor.
… It is also very convenient. Down the hall is a fully-equipped kitchen shared with the other guests in the house, a washer/dryer in a communal bathroom with tub, and a computer station.
… Directly outside the room is a door to the front porch, which overlooks the street and is a good place to sit or entertain.
… The room is separately keyed with its own combination lock and an inside chain. When your booking is confirmed, you will be given the codes for the locks from the outside and to your room, allowing 24 hour check in and entry.

Disponible para huéspedes

… Breakfast, snacks, fruit, and coffee are available 24/7 in the breakfast nook of 219 McCauley next door (see House Manual for entry code). The nook is equipped with microwave, toaster oven, and instant hot water for tea.
… Happy Hours are frequently held in the Quorum dining room, whose bar was relocated from a favorite watering spot in Research Triangle Park.
... The covered porches at 219 and 223 McCauley have rocking chairs and a swing overlooking the street. They are great places for reading and quiet reflection. The shaded back deck at 223 McCauley has bench seating and tables for several dozen people.
... The 219 McCauley seminar room has a large screen projection TV.
... The shaded grove between 219 and 223 may beckon you with its grill, tables, and hammocks - perfect for lazy days and nights from March through November.
… Scattered throughout the 2-acre campus are wooden (12), metal (6), and tile (4) picnic tables, park benches (7), hammocks (4), and hanging swings (3).
... A computer lab, library, indoor swimming pool and rudimentary gym are located in another adjacent building, for which you will be given the entry code if you wish. The "Endless" swimming pool has an adjustable current, allowing you to swim at your own pace for as long as you like without turning.
... An elegant livingroom w/ fireplace, kitchen/dining room with fireplace, sunroom, and porch in 213 McCauley can be booked separately for all or part of your stay, if you would like to entertain guests for dinner or a party (see "Party room next to UNC and downtown")
... A washer/dryer in 223 McCauley is available for guest use.
… There is a basketball court and a covered bike shed, with some bikes available for your use (they may require use of an air pump).
… Finally, there is an awesome two-person swing and a bronze elephant, suitable for riding by both children and adults!

Change in Reservation:
Because this room is occasionally in demand for guests here for longer stays, we reserve the right to upgrade you to alternative Center accommodations suitable to the size of your party for no additional cost. If you have any additional specifications for the room, we will try our best to accommodate those in the alternate housing.

Pests: Pests are an unfortunate fact of life in NC, especially in historic houses and well-treed properties. However, many guests object to the use of conventional pesticides. We have engaged Sage Pest Control, an environmentally friendly company that uses chrysanthemum-based products to provide guaranteed treatments. If you see any ants, roaches, mosquitoes or spiders, please report the problem to the company and they will send someone over. The contact information will be provided in the House Manual.
