This was my 1st time using Airbnb, so I was a bit leery about how it would compare to a conventional hotel. As it turned out, I couldn't have been more pleased with our stay at this Vista Cay apartment. The property was very clean, well-kept and nicely appointed. We had 2 young children in our party, and they both gave this apartment 2 thumbs up ... They didn't want to leave! The condo was also quieter than the average hotel room, although I could still hear the footsteps of children running upstairs around 1 a.m. on 2 out of the 3 nights of our stay. (However, I think this is typical of all apartments where you have neighbors above and/or below you; and I'm a light sleeper!). The Vista Cay community was close to everything we needed. We visited Universal Studios and Sea World on our visit, and this property was only a short drive away from both.
Vista Cay appears to be a resort community of condos purchased by investors for use as vacation rental units. So it does feel a bit more like a corporate resort than a single-family home or townhome rented directly from an individual owner. However, our host, Max, was communicative and accessible both before and during our stay, and made us feel very welcome to our "home away from home."
The only thing I might have changed about this property were the toiletries and supplies provided for guests. The listing itself was clear that only "the basics" would be provided (in our case, toilet paper and a small bar of soap in each bathroom). However, it would've been nice to have a few additional conveniences, such as travel-size shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, razor, etc. Also, it would've been great to have mini-bottles of dishwashing liquid and diswasher gel in the kitchen, like you'd find the in average suite hotel. Particularly since, unlike toiletries, these last 2 items are hard to find in travel-friendly sizes at your average grocery store.
Nonetheless, this is 1 very tiny quibble in an otherwise flawless and fantastic stay. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to my friends and family, and I definitely plan on staying here again the next time my vacation plans take me to Orlando.
