This historic farmhouse, 100 km from Cape Town, is on a working farm which includes a mountainside, meadows and a lagoon front. Rich in ambiance and character, the house is ideal for families who wish to experience farm life while also being close to the attractions of Hermanus and Kleinmond.
Keep it as well as you receive it. Fires only in inner hearth, or in grilling / braai area. Take special care with candles. Be sensitive to the fragility of an old house like the sash windows and old door knobs. Obey basic farm rules about leaving gates as you find them, i.e. open or closed. Respect the nature and the animals around you.

After several years of academic involvement at the universities of Cape Town and Stellenbosch I have joined forces with my husband to look after a family owned farm. Once a week he looks to the agricultural activities as I see to the house and vegetable garden. For the rest my husband practices medicine while I am engaged in the runnings of our large family. My interests are literature, the visual arts, cinema, walking in mountains and travel. I also cook a lot, with great enjoyment, for both friends and family that fill our long table. As much as I love to know more of the world through books and travel, I also love home as a space of quiet seclusion. Homes tell so much of who we are and the experience of staying in real homes while traveling is an enormously rich one. I hope that Hermanusriver Farm affords you such an experience!
