Sapa lies in a beautiful valley near the Chinese border. It is the north's main drawcard for tourists looking for magnificent scenery and a diverse mix of ethnic cultures in the countryside inhabited by various hill tribes

El lugar

Sapa is a great place to base yourself and shop beside the locals who frequent the Saturday market.
If you're looking to escape the tourist buses, head a bit further afield to Bac Ha.
There are 10 Montagnard hill tribe groups who live around Bac Ha in the highlands, and many make the trek down for their big shopping day. Some hill tribe people have to walk up to 30 kilometres through the mountains to get there, with all their goods in tow on the way back.

Julie was really helpful in planning our trek to Sapa and cruise Ha Long Bay. Very prompt responses and while slightly more expensive than organising yourself, was very hassle free. We stayed at Julie's hostel, Hanoi Old Quarter Hostel, on the last night, which was very reasonably priced. Thanks Julie for a very enjoyable trip!

Although I did not meet Julie. All my travel arrangement was done well. No hiccups at all. From Day 1 to Day 3. Kudos to Julie and team.

Excellent, the value vs. experience, it's invaluable BUT it is important that you post the itinerary, that people know that in the night train they will travel alone if they are traveling alone with other 3 people. The Train has 4 beds cabins. Please let people know about the logistics of how to get to the train station and who is going to pickyou up when and where. Vietnamese tourism is blooming and growing at such pace that service providers do not realize yet the need of explicit information. If anyone requires further info, please contact me. Julie, thanks for one of the most amazing experiences of my life.

I've previously written a review of Julie and her welcoming and wonderful staff at the Hanoi Old Quarter Hostel, so I'll skip to the package she offers for traveling to visit SaPa hill tribes. I'm fairly sure that no one in Hanoi takes better care of guests as they head off to board the train. Julie sent her doorman on his scooter to meet our taxi when we arrived at the train station. He handled the voucher exchange for tickets, then walked with us to find the proper train car and hopped onboard to lead us into our cabin. Only after he had stowed our luggage in its compartment, did he bid us farewell. 4 bunks per cabin. Train ends in Lao Cai, about an hour from SaPa. We were met at the station for the transfer and became one of many groups handed over to a local agency in SaPa who served breakfast buffet, with showers available in basement of hotel, adjacent to their office. Given a difficult task of dealing with so many folks, the groups were somehow assigned and we set off, escorted by 1 guide and many helpful village women who make the trek daily as part of their real lives, and didn't seem to notice the slippery spots - just offered support to us novices (Hoping we would become customers for their crafts during our lunch break!) Actually it proved a bit difficult for us seniors, so we paid for a motor scooter return part way and still found the trip worthwhile. After our return to bustling SaPa, we had time to wander shops and sidewalk lined with vendors. Not sure if that happens only on Saturday - ask Julie. Dinner was again in the basement dining room. Service in the SaPa hotel was equally nice - don't know if they always use the same hotel for the overnight, but Panorama Inn was lovely - a reward for surviving the trek and taking the extra overnight package. We enjoyed our 2nd breakfast in the upper floor restaurant, with more extensive buffet and a VIEW! The 2 nt pkg would have been too short for us with consecutive nights on the train. We booked the trip for a weekend to visit the huge Bac Ha market - a separate fee for the day's guide. BE WARNED that it's approx 3 hr drive from SaPa over a twisty, often bumpy road. Our guide also took us to visit a couple other interesting sights before returning (shorter distance) to the train station with a view of the Chinese border crossing. This guide just dropped us at a restaurant near the station with voucher for dinner. What a pleasure after the 2nd train ride to be greeted by the doorman and again escorted back to Julie's hostel/hotel! Felt like coming home to friendly family.

I am a friendly local host:). I run a small hostel of 10 rooms which is considered as my 2nd home. Being working in hospitality, i really love traveling and meeting people for making new friends and exchanging our different cultures.
I got married with a great man who's an IT. His name is Duc. He is a friendly, kind and sweet man just like me: D. I found it very lucky to have him in my life. When i was pregnant, my favorite drink was Mocha Ice Blended. After that, i delivered my son and i have my Mocha now. He's super cute little man.
I am working in tourism industry for more than 6 years, since i graduated. I really love my job and love welcoming guests from all over the world to show a very peaceful and beautiful Vietnam. After long time hard working, i start doing my own business with my manager who has been with me all the time since i first got the job. Business is very important to me, but my main objectives are to bring you all good services at best prices, protect and provide you all the tips on travelling around Vietnam. I work by heart to earn experiences and friends. I believe that you all would have a great holiday with us and become our family members after that. Now, pl book a flight and stay with us. It's worth !!!
