"Estrella del Mar” is our 4 bedrooms family hideaway and beach front home, our little ocean front piece of heaven with a mind-blowing view of the Playa Bonita Bay and direct access to the beach. The villa is surrounded by 1,700 m2 of private tropical gardens and is located in a quiet residential area.
The house features 4 bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms, for a maximum of 6 adults and 4 children. There are 3 rooms with 1 king size bed, 1 room with 3 single beds plus 1 pull-out drawer bed. All bedrooms are air-conditioned, equipped with a ceiling fan, mosquito nets and safety box.
Both rooms at the back of the house have their own small veranda surrounded by tropical plants.
The open living area has two sections. The first section consists of the entrance, the living room and the kitchen. This section can be closed and secured by sliding doors. During the day it is typically open and forms a large unit with the second section on the Veranda. The Veranda consists of the dining area, a small and a larger living area and the most popular hammock corner. All of the above is protected by the thatched roof which extends to the entire house. If there is rain or wind, we have a rain and wind protection curtain on the veranda which keeps most of it outside.
The ocean side of the garden is a perfect place to work on your suntan, play frisbee, badminton or soccer. To cool down, the saltwater pool is just few steps away. Guests like to rock the hammock, read a book and sip a cocktail while overseeing the children play in the pool. And so do we… On the other side of the house, the garden is a colorful dense tropical heaven making the two back-of-the-house verandas a cocooning place to retire.

We won't be in Las Terrenas during your stay, but Beatrice Looser, a Swiss national, and her team are in charge of the house administration and will be assisting for any service you might need before and during your stay. Beatrice or someone of her team will welcome you when you arrive. She can help with transfers, excursions, car and motorbike rental, grocery shopping for the arrival day, emergencies (hopefully not), etc. She speaks English, French, German, Spanish and Italian. However, you could still get in touch with us by email, phone or (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN).
Bina, our housekeeper, works daily from 8am to 4pm, she cleans the house, prepares breakfast and lunch and washes the linen twice a week. For dinner service and babysitting an extra charge does apply. Bina is a great cook and mixes a couple of devine tropical cocktails like Cuba Libre, Santo Libre, Piña Colada, Caipirinha, Mojito, Daiquiri or Margarita.
Mimio takes care of the garden for more than 20 years. He is a lovely person and part of the Estrella del Mar family. You will appreciate him for taking care of the pool, cleaning the grill after usage and for skillfully opening coconuts just harvested from the trees for you to enjoy the water and the meat. He also helps in many other ways. Some of our guests give him a few pesos and send him off on a motorbike taxi to buy some fruits, vegetables or drinks. Mimio works from Monday to Saturday noon and stays in an independent room next to the house.
Mimio and Bina speak Spanish only. However, we found that the communication with non Spanish speaking guests still worked. There is always the option that Beatrice or Goolge can do the translation if required.

We have a beautiful little cat called Sugus. She is only outside and does not sleep on the furniture. It should be no problem for allergic people, because we have several very allergic kids too. Mimio, our gardener does feed her.
The property is fully furnished and includes: 4 bedrooms with air conditioning, 4 bathrooms, laundry with washing machine and dryer, fully equipped kitchen, swimming pool, linen and towels, daily maid service from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., live-in gardener from Monday to Saturday noon.
The maid service does include preparation of breakfast and lunch (grocery shopping not included). Additional services such as dinner preparation and babysitting are charged extra.
The loss of a safety box or house key is charged 50 USD.
The payment is due upon reservation. For cancellations up to 30 days prior to arrival, 100% of the payment will be refunded. For cancellations 30 days or less prior to arrival the payment is non refundable.
Lease begins at 3 p.m. on the arrival day and ends at 11 a.m. on the departure day. Early check-in or late check-out upon availability.
The maximum number of guests is limited to 8 adults or 6 adults and 4 children. No extra guests are allowed in the house. For babies, we have two foldable baby beds.
During the stay, our Swiss house administrator, Bea Locations, will assist for any service needed. They organize transfers, car rental, excursions, massage, etc. and will be there at check-in and check-out. Guests shall allow administrator access to the property for purposes of repair and inspection. Administrator shall exercise this right of access in a reasonable manner.
This property is a self-catering villa and the services offered by the owner and his administrator do not change that condition. The rental party is responsible for the care and use of the objects containing it. Any damage need to be reported immediately.
The rented property including all furniture, indoor and outdoor, will be left in good condition. If the premises appear dirty or damaged upon check-in, guests shall inform owner or administrator no later than 24 hours after beginning of rental period.
The house is privately owned. The owner or administrator is not and will not be responsible for any loss of personal belongings or injury, damage and harm suffered by the guests, family members, visitors, or other persons on the property during rental period. The guest will indemnify and hold harmless the owner from damages or claims of damages, including all costs and legal fees. We encourage all renters to purchase traveler insurance.
The owner and his administrator compromise to solve issues that may incidentally arise during the rental period with the house and the services provided in a timely and diligent manner within the limits and boundaries of what is possible and reasonable in the area. A first response or reply from the owner or his administrator should be expected within 24h.
The owner or administrator is not and will not be responsible for power cut and Internet breakdown. The house is equipped with an invertor for emergency power supply (air conditioning is not covered).
The swimming pool is integrated in the living area and does not have a fence. Small children should wear a children life jacket while unattended.
It’s a non smoking house. Smoking is allowed outside only.
We are a Swiss-Dominican couple with 5 children. We live in Santo Domingo and spend as much time as possible in Las Terrenas. In Summer time we normally visit friends and family in Switzerland.
