Located on the Naranjo River 10 miles inland from Quepos/Manuel Antonio in the pueblo of Londres, Casa Cielo is a beautiful two bedroom, two bath home (one cold water shower is outdoors) has stunning views and abundant birds. Private river access. A getaway from the madness of tourist centers. Experience the real Costa Rica among the Ticos.
Pura Vida at its best.
Casa Cielo is a unique space in that it is in the middle of a pueblo, but once you are inside the compound, you feel much more remote and private. We have an abundance of resident birds as well as iguanas, geckos and spectacular river and mountain views. Although you can hear road noise, however, the white noise of the river is ever present and soothing to the soul.
Disponible para huéspedes
You will have access to the entire house and grounds as well as private access to the river.
Atención a los huéspedes
I spend 3-4 months a year in Costa Rica. I will be your host when I am available. We have a Co Host, Tobias who lives three properties down and runs his own Airbnb property, Londres B&B. It is a sweet property if you want only to rent a room. The family is adorable. In less than one year, Tobias has earned Super Host status from Airbnb, its highest rating. Tobias will greet you and walk you through the house upon arrival to explain the workings as well as some some tips about living near the rainforest. He will be available to take telephone questions until 8pm. If you have any issues with the house (the propane ran out, something is not working properly) he will contact Nelson to deal with it. Tobias will also set up tours for you. Please use him for this service as it benefits him and costs you nothing.
Our caretakers (and official Costa Rica family), Nelson and Marita Córdoba, live next door and take care of all cleaning and maintenance of the property.
They do not speak English but understand most of my Spanglish gibberish and hand gestures. They have a precious dog, Lulu who guards both properties. If you do not have an affinity for dogs, you can close the gate that connects our properties. Few of you will do this....she's a sweetheart.
When I host I will be staying at the caretakers house next door in a private bedroom separate from their house. I will be available for private tours and maybe some cooking if you are lucky. I am there from late December until mid February and also in May and sometimes October. Some of those days will be blocked out for time with my wife, Cyndi, or for property improvements. Inquire about blocked days when i am there (January, February, May, and sometimes in October) if you plan to spend a lot of time traveling and exploring the area during your stay here and do not mind me working in the garden or doing exterior house maintenance while you explore. I will not be staying on the property..... unless you insist after tasting my cooking and some of my specialty rum drinks and mojitos..(;-)
Otros aspectos destacables
Within the pueblo, there is horseback riding to a waterfall at Las Brisas del Nara, one kilometer up the road. Vicki is the boss there and there is a restaurant that serves the clients but you can usually get breakfast and lunch there. There is also a private waterfall hike available that is spectacular that can be set up by Tobias or myself. It is a ten minute drive and a 20 minute walk. See photo. Tobias can arrange these tours for you.
La Casona is a restaurant that is a 10 minute walk toward town. The grounds are beautiful with a creek running the length of the property. Beer and cocktails are served, food and hours are a little sporadic but most of the time there is excellent ceviche......and a pool table. La Galera is the other bar in town that also serves food and, like La Casona, is a locals hangout but not recommended as family restaurant. It's more for the younger crowd and noisier. If you mention that you are an amigo de Dennis at any of the places in town, you will either be treated very well or thrown out. (;-) BTW, very little English is spoken here....just say a lot of Pura Vidas, toda bien, and solo bueno and you'll be a hit.
Super Amistad is the 'supermarket' in downtown. Ronolfo is the owner and they have all the basic staples you need. Try the lettuce that is grown by a local co-op in Sabalo just 6 miles away. They do a great job and we avidly support local business.
The property is located on a high bank above the river and there are some areas that are exposed to the river below. It is suitable for children but not for toddlers.
Smoking outside is fine.
The house is suitable for small indoor pets.

Born in Memphis, TN, spent 5 great years in Flagstaff, AZ, where I married my amazing wife Cyndi, and have been living in Denver for the last 28 years. Retired from wine industry, love fly fishing, biking, working with wood, reading, cooking and drinking good wine. Cyndi is an incredible attorney specializing in collaborative law. We have owned our property in Costa Rica for 20 years. It is located in a small Spanish speaking (for the most part) pueblo on the Naranjo River at the edge of the Cerro Nara rainforest. Our house is designed for adventure travelers. If you are afraid of geckos, (one of man's best friends in the rainforest), this place is not for you. We are within easy striking distance of Quepos and the fabulous beaches, restaurants, and nightlife of Manuel Antonio National Park.
My Spanish is still pretty lame but I can get by.
