Neat log cabin with an authentic mountain feel right in the onsen town of Nukabira. Right down the street from Nukabira ski area. Kurodake is less than an hour away and there are many ski touring options off the pass. Bring plenty of food with you because there's very limited options in town, settle in for a couple days and enjoy the onsens. Not a big deal but the toilet was really smelly even in the winter!

Noriko and Kenichi are great hosts. Clean, well equipped cabin perfect for our ski trip. We easily accessed nukabira resort as well as kurodake. Very nice little town with many glorious onsens. Off the beaten path of Hokkaido and well worth a visit. I can only imagine how beautiful the area is in the spring/summer.

This cabin is truly a magical experience in the winter!! We stayed in Nukabira for three nights to do some skiing in the area and we really looked forward to going home at night. The space is very unique and clean with an amazing collection of owls! Can you find them all? We also loved the sleeping loft and cozy wood fire. Stay here as soon as you can!

We loved it! We stayed mid December and received the best snow fall ever, which made visiting the onsen down the road a truly special experience. The cabin was an absolute dream that we didn't want to wake up from, it's literally a dream during the winter. His instructions were clear and helpful, and he was communicative throughout the entire stay. Kenichi has a beautiful cabin that should be respected and treated as if it were your own, that means being competent with starting fires in the fire place to set him at ease. He's a gracious host who deserves gracious guests.

I have only great things to say about Kenichi as a person and also about the properties that he manages on AirBnB. My wife and I visited Hokkaido for 8 days and had a big problem with our rental car in New Chitose Airport, as the rental company refused to rent to us because they said we had the wrong kind of international license (warning to travelers with a license from the USA: your international driver’s license must be issued by AAA or AATA to be legal in Japan! I wish somebody had told us!). I called Kenichi (we had plans to stay at his cabin in Nukabira) and he suggested that we take a bus to his town (Obihiro) and try to rent a car there. He met us at the bus stop, helped us to rent a car, and then very kindly stayed in touch and became an invaluable source of information and help for the duration of our stay. Really, Kenichi is a great guy! We stayed in an apartment that he rents in Obihiro for one night that was a very nice and a pleasure to stay in. We also stayed for four nights in his cabin in Nukabira. The cabin is a very special place, located at the edge of the forest, with a wood stove, nice kitchen, and futon beds in the loft. It was easily our favorite place that we stayed in during our trip. The onsen town of Nukabira is a wonderful quiet village with a pretty lake, a ski area (for winter – we were there in the fall) and many onsens of different types and prices. We cooked all of our meals at the cabin and thus I can’t comment on the restaurants. You can rent bikes in the nature center, which also has a world-class collection of insects . We took great walks every day in the forests around Nukabira, there is a nice walk along the lake, you can climb Mount Upepesanke, or go to Lake Shikaribetsu for a walk in the rain forest. I highly recommend working with Kenichi to plan a trip or visiting Obihiro and Nukabira, we had a memorable time and feel that we now have a great new friend in Obihiro.

Thank you for such a perfect review! I think most of Japanese would help you anyway in this case if only they can speak good enough English so I don't think this is special, but many hosts have their job and don't have enough time to care for guests. I have enough time even with some income because like that apartment. And we are lucky that we have good local cruft beer bar and I could take you there! Did you hear that the name of that beer is "The beer for starting our journey" ? That was exactry for your situation!
