I've always wanted to visit Asheville. Being invited to a wedding in Black Mountain was the perfect excuse to make a trip out of it. This was our first time using Airbnb. The hosts were very responsive to my questions. The cottage was so tastefully furnished. Super quaint, cute, and cozy. The fire pit next to the creek was a lovely touch. We brought a fire log, some outdoor chairs, and s'mores fixings. Might be a good idea to pack these items as they are not provided. A fun alternative to a night in the city. :) The cottage was fairly easy to find. The mailbox with the house number is hidden by trees, so we missed it the first time. Just know the cottage is tucked away upon initial arrival. There is a musty smell when you first enter, but you get used to it. I honestly didn't notice it after the first time I entered the cottage. I'm sure it's due to the location of the cottage. We were briefly confused by the two different lock boxes and I had suggested the host specify which one to use for future visitors. The beds were very comfortable. If you are sharing the cottage with others, know the walls are thin. But I just brought along a fan to drown out noise. Amenities were awesome. We were pleasantly surprised by all the fully stocked kitchen had to offer. We had no issues with the shower or water pressure. I did notice some dust bunnies and lots of bugs in the cottage, but you're in the mountains. That's expected. I'm so glad this was our first Airbnb experience. We really enjoyed our stay here and we're sad to leave.

Our stay at this cottage was quite lovely. It is situated very close to Black Mountain, but you feel as if you are in the middle of the forest. You travel down a rhododendron lined driveway to arrive at your cottage. One thing I didn't realize was that you share the property with a larger house that is quite close to the cottage. It was no problem, however because luckily it was not rented while we were there. Everything was very clean, but you will notice a strong musty odor inside because of all the surrounding trees. Also, one of the bathroom sinks is plugged and drained very slowly. One other thing to consider is that the bedrooms are joined by a connecting door that will not latch, so if you need privacy, it might not work for you. All in all it was a very nice weekend in a cozy setting!

Pros: This cottage is a destination! It's really beautiful. The colors, materials, and features are world class. This place should be in Southern Living! The listing is accurate. Beds were very comfortable and "new" feeling. Linens were great. AC worked well. Kitchen well stocked. The front screen porch is beautiful and serene - great place to enjoy a beverage and connect with nature. It's a short drive to conveniences or popular destinations (Black Mountain, Montreat, Asheville) yet the property feels isolated. You cannot hear anything but nature. The stream running through the property is picturesque and fun for exploring and rock-hopping. For awareness: No surprises here as the listing is accurate... just highlighting for others to consider so you are not surprised. 1) The fire pit is on the other side of the other house on the property (apparently the owners' vacation house, which was not occupied during out stay) so you cannot see it from the rental cottage. 2) There are no chairs for outdoor use, such as sitting around the fire pit. Bring your own or be prepared to sit on the ground. 3) There is no grille and no grilling tools. 4) There is no icemaker (but there are ice cube trays). 5) When leaves are on the trees, the canopy blocks nearly all the direct sunlight, making the property and the interior of the house quite dark. Not for sun seekers, but great for sleeping in. Cons: 1) The doors between rooms are beautifully hand-crafted but do not seal, so they do not block sound. If a person in the other room snores, bring earplugs. Or if you want kids to get to sleep before the adults, the adults must go outdoors if you want to talk without the kids hearing you. 2) The dryer (which is in the larger of two full bathrooms) vents into the bathroom. It makes the room smell like a dryer vent, puts a lot of heat and moisture into the room, and spreads lint. I don't know if this is by design or if the vent got disconnected somehow. I notified the host and they acknowledged, so if it's not by design perhaps it will be fixed for the next visitors. 3) The house is in the woods so as expected there are many insects on the outside. When we arrived, there were also many insects inside, especially spider webs (all rooms) and ants (kitchen). If cleaned properly I would not expect this to be a problem, and even for us it was a small effort to clean up the spiderwebs. Feedback was given to the hosts.

Thank you for a lovely stay. The cottage is beautifully decorated and well-supplied with everything I needed. Even though I was in the woods, where it is very peaceful, a large grocery store is only 5 minutes away. Access to I-40 also is easy and close by. The large screened porch is comfortable and relaxing. The cottage is darker that it appears in the photos. Also, it has a musty smell that can be off-putting. But the odor may simply be due to the fact that the cottage is in the woods, in the mountains.

This was a small, secluded home that was just right for our family. Although it is secluded, it is just 5 minutes away from groceries and shopping, which we appreciated with small kids. Decor is rustic and tasteful. The fire pit and creek were big hits with our children. Information about check in and check out were minimal -- there just isn't much to do other than show up and depart!

My husband and and our two adult children really enjoyed our time in this cozy cottage. We stayed in the cottage over thanksgiving weekend and met family in the area for a festive time. My son and I enjoyed taking walks and jogging on the nearby trails. We all enjoyed visiting Black Mountain and the Asheville area. The cottage was as promised, the host was responsive about inquiries. The heat, 2 showers, wifi, etc all were in good working order.
