Our situation was unique. We were evacuating Florida from hurricane Irma. So we were not looking for the seclusion not the hiking trails. All in all the cabin accommodated our entire group well & kept us safe. It wasn't as clean as I would like but I might be picky. It was kind of like going to grandmas house & she's older and can't keep up on the extra housework like she used to. It was a little dusty and musky. The toilets & sinks wet clean as was the kitchen. If you are looking for a large place with comfortable beds, a stocked kitchen that is very secluded & keeps you off of electronics. This is it.

This is the perfect home to enjoy outdoor activities with your family. The fire pit was a great feature and the porch got much use while we were there. Grayson Highlands State Park was nearby and worth the visit. Biking the Virginia Creeper trail was a very enjoyable time, too.

The location is perfect for getting to Grayson Highlands, Mt. Rogers, the AT, and close to Damascus/Creeper Trail. We enjoyed walking quite a ways in the creek that runs in front of the house. Porch and all rooms in the house are great. Kitchen has a lot of helpful utensils. We enjoyed ourselves very much!

Chasing Rainbows is a treasure. Location-wise, it is 15 minutes southwest from Grayson Highlands State Park, where we enjoyed the hike and astonishing views from both the Little and Big Pinnacle. The lodge is also 15 minutes north of some of the best pizza we've ever had at Pie On The Mountain in Lansing, NC, and just 30 minutes north of West Jefferson, NC, a cool main street artsy town with coffee shops, art galleries, and a brew pub/restaurant. The lodge is aptly described and does not disappoint. I had told Elena that we would cook most of our meals (other than pizza, we did just that) and we found the kitchen to be superbly stocked with *anything* you'd need (kitchen pots/pans, tools, spices), or that you may have forgot to bring (we forgot olive oil and helped ourselves to 1/4 cup of yours, thank you!). The lodge is a beautiful blend of older with new updates (sparkling new-looking bathrooms and windows throughout). The wide-plank wood floors are lovely (as is the wood ceiling in the main rooms). The location--it's pretty hard to beat being a stone's throw from the bold rushing creek that lulls you asleep at night. Or the wide porch that runs the length of the lodge (especially the screened-in part off the master BR). Our son caught three rainbow trout in the stream and they were delicious. We enjoyed and made use of the fire ring, too. We hope to return one day as we all had a wonderful visit and enjoyed ourselves.
