Room to rent in a unique Georgian detached granite house, dates from around 1750! Close to the University (10 min walk) and city centre (15 min walk or 5 min by bus).
Minimum 2 nights. The room is actually big enough to be a double room, but having only a single bed it has plenty of room in it! There is a desk and a chair in the room. There is a cupboard (airing cupboard) that has space for clothes on coat hangers and also a few empty shelves in one of the Ikea cloth hanging shelving unit. Wifi code provided for the duration of your stay.
Disponible para huéspedes
You have the use of a large family bathroom with bath/shower. Unless there is another guest in the double bedroom the bathroom is for your use only - we have an en suite bathroom off our own bedroom.
You can make coffee/tea with milk/sugar free of charge in the kitchen. There is also a microwave if you wish to heat something quick to eat and naturally you can use utensils from the kitchen.
Atención a los huéspedes
We will be living in the house so you can always ask us about buses or directions to places. We can give you ideas where to eat and drink or tell you where the closest supermarkets are. If you have time for walks in the parks or any touristy stuff we can also give you suggestions!
Otros aspectos destacables
Unfortunately parking isn't very easy around here, unless the students haven't yet returned to the University... They tend to use up a lot of the street parking. Another point to make is the fact that there are 20 granite stairs outside in the front to reach the house, and another 15 wooden stairs to get upstairs to the bedrooms and bathroom... So you need to be fit enough to climb stairs! There is also a cat living in the household so people with allergies may not want to consider staying.
Smoking is not allowed in the house but if you are a smoker you can smoke in the garden, there are seats and benches in the front and back. Just ask for an ashtray and an umbrella if necessary!

I live with my partner Mike, we are both widowed and retired. We like cycling, walking, we used to do ballroom dancing and salsa dancing (until I had a cycling accident), and enjoy good food & wine! Between us we have 5 adult children. Mike's kids are all in Aberdeen at the moment, but my two live in Australia and Indonesia and my relatives are all in my native Finland... We love to travel, and if/when we have time between trips to visit family we like to see somewhere new. My family and friends have used AIRBNB a lot and highly recommend it, so with two empty bedrooms I decided to try hosting with AIRBNB. I thought the Oil Show in Aberdeen last September would be a good time to try how we like having new people staying with us. It turned out to be a great experience! We had two lovely guests, followed by many more between September and February. We have had visitors from numerous countries and it has been great to get to know them all.
Many of them have kept in touch and hopefully we'll meet again either in their home countries or back in Aberdeen.
I've had to block my calendar from March till end of May because we are in Australia and Indonesia, but we will be back with doors open for guests again in June!
There was a bit of a hick-up when we returned from Australia - leak damage from one of the toilets... It has taken all summer to get things fixed again but now it's time to welcome guests to our house.
