The Sun Room is a rustic out-building separated from the main house by a small walkway and bridge. Guests share use of the bathrooms, kitchen, and Wifi in the main house. There is no lock on the sliding glass door to the room.
This beloved family home is in the process of transitioning into a community wellness center. The downstairs and 2 acres of yard frequently host activities that promote holistic healing practices for self, community, and planet. During your stay there is a chance that the common areas—downstairs and the yard—will be in use by any number of activities, from morning yoga classes to visits from folks seeking solace in the gardens or along the creek. There is a private consultation room downstairs which is shared by a variety of healers—including massage therapists, an acupuncturist, an integrative family doctor, and practitioners of yoga and vibroacoustic harp therapy. Some of these may be seeing clients in the consultation room during the daytime, and any would be delighted to offer you their services during your stay, with enough advanced notice. There is no guarantee that the services you seek will be available during your stay, but we will do our best to accommodate your request. If you are interested in any of the above, or have questions about what else is available, please contact your host. Fees for these services are determined by the individual providers.

Guests of all sleeping spaces are encouraged to share (and enjoy!) the common spaces, including the rustic but high-end kitchen; full bathrooms in the upstairs and basement; the backyard, community gardens, and island with zip line; and sunken living room. The upstairs and basement bathrooms are shared by all guests. The gorgeous shared kitchen boasts granite island and counters, a fridge disguised as an old-fashioned wooden ice box, and a fire-engine-red cast iron stove. All are warmly welcome to use our kitchen—for conversation, a shared meal, or if you like to prepare your own meals. The fridge is shared by all, just please mark your items clearly. The out-of-doors is wild, sweeping, and beautiful! The backyard is a surprising retreat, with a rambling creek, an open-space island suitable for a good game of kickball or frisbee football (you can find all these in the barn-like shed), and a community garden built by three families of friends. Native trees have been planted throughout the property, and three kinds of wild berries grow along its edges, harvestable between June and July. A fire pit beckons Spring through Fall, and two picnic tables are available for use creekside. An elaborate climbing structure, hand-built by a recent owner and his children, boasts swings, slides, a sandbox, and a platform high in the branches of a Norway maple. This is truly a unique property, loved by children and adults alike.

Hosts do not live in the main house, but are just down the street and available to assist if needs arise. We will make sure you have a key or access code to enter the main home, where you will find the bathroom(s), kitchen, yoga room, and other common spaces. Please note: the Sun Room is a rustic, out-building hide-away behind sliding glass doors that do not currently lock, from the inside or outside.

Our home is centrally located in the Lehigh Valley, a ten minute drive into both downtown Allentown and Bethlehem. The property is situated on a state road, which means first priority plowing in the snowy months (Oct-Feb). Access to I-78 is only 3 miles away, and there are several award winning restaurants (Bolete, Asia) within 2-3 minutes by car. Despite its location on a busy road, the property is surprisingly peaceful and secluded.
You are welcome to join and any all events that may be happening in the common areas (downstairs or outside), provided space is available. Inquire about what activities are planned for the time of your stay by contacting your host. When activities are underway in these spaces, we request that you refrain from using them, unless you are a participant. And if there is something you’d like to do with your group while staying with us that fits within our vision of holistic healing practices for self, community, and planet, maybe we can help arrange it for you! Contact Kristin through AirBnB and pitch an idea. The space is ideal for groups of up to 15-20 for daytime use, and the entire house (which has beds for 7 but can sleep more, if you bring your own cots, sleeping bags, tents, etc) is also available for rent through AirBnB under the listing, Trout Creek Healing Collective. More information on common spaces: The large, sunken living room (the Yoga Room) easily holds 10 for yoga, but more can squeeze in if needed. Neighbors and friends frequently join us for morning yoga practice, and you and your group are invited to use the chairs, yoga props, and mats as you like, provided you return them to their original location and condition when finished. Please use the provided wet wipes to clean off used yoga mats.

I am a part-time holistic, integrative family doc/acupuncturist, and full-time mother of four. I've been creating my small practice in our former 100+ year old home since 2014, and in 2015 I opened the upstairs of that home to guests from around the world. (Don't worry--I moved myself and the family down the street first!) I love travel, yoga, making healthy elaborate meals from fresh, local, organic whole foods, and facilitating healing spaces where folks can connect with one another around issues of health, wellness, sustainability, nutrition, and intentional community. I work out of my former home a few days a week, so might get to run into guests at that site (Trout Creek) during your visit. I look forward to hosting you!
