This is glamping at its very best. The site is completely private and there is only the one safari tent - so no neighbours other than badgers, owls and the grazing sheep. Everything is provided - just bring yourselves and a sense of adventure! You have your very own shower 'hut' with hot water and a flushing loo. If 'rustic' and 'luxury' can be put in the same sentence then this is the time.

El lugar

The safari tent is situated on a private 2000 acre family estate in Herefordshire right by a babbling brook which runs into the famous River Wye. It also has its own picnic area by the river which also can be used as a private entry point for canoing down the river. There is plenty to do with wonderful private walks and it joins on the Wye Valley path network so is perfect as a couple of days rest for those who are on this walk. There is plenty to do locally and a good pub which is a 10 minute walk away over the farms orchards.
A local activity company will come out and set up archery, provide mountain bikes or take you canoing (at an extra charge of course).
The walks are second to none, and also in the summer mountain biking is excellent - I can get bikes delivered to the tent at a charge, or you can bring your own. Maps will be in the tent.

Disponible para huéspedes

You will be met on arrival and escorted to the tent. There is parking off road available close to the tent (5 min walk) but we will take your luggage. If you have a four wheel drive car (or when it is very dry) you can drive up to the little bridge that takes you to the safari tent.
Close walk across some orchards to a pub which serves good beer and food.

Otros aspectos destacables

The tent is situated right on the banks of a brook, so toddlers will need supervision at all times, but this is a children haven. Building dams, playing poo sticks and just running wild and free. As how true camping should be.
However there are various ways to cook. There is a firepit to BBQ right by the stream, but if the weather is not so good there is a gas stove which can cook even roast potatoes and small pizzas which is inside the tent. There is also the firepit down on the river bank (8 min walk through an orchard).
All the beds are made up on your arrival with crisp sheets and fresh towels and toiletries. There is a solar powered fridge which also provides some 12V electric power to a couple of lights and you can charge a mobile phone. The rest of the lighting is from paraffin lamps and there is a real sense of atmosphere around the camp. Do bring some battery operated toys/music if you feel. You have no-one to disturb!!! You might just keeps the owls awake!

Beautiful location. Very clean. Great facilities. Smooth check in and very helpful hosts. Lovely 10 minute walk to the wye river all through the property . Nice pub with great cooked meals only 5 minute drive and a great farm produce outlet only 10 minutes away has everything you need. Kids really loved it. Very highly recommended.

This is a fantastic place! We all had an amazing time despite the weather being rubbish. The tent was great... super comfy beds, toys for the children and the wood burner was great in the evening for warming the tent. It is exactly as described "luxury camping". The tent is fully kitted out with everything you need and really is more like a home than a tent. Our kids (aged 7 and 4) and dog loved exploring the area, playing in the stream and using the hammock and tyre swing. We all enjoyed sitting around the fire pit at night, and being in the countryside the stars were amazing on the one clear night we had, and it is so peaceful! The place is really isolated but there is a nice walk across the orchards to the dog-friendly local pub which did a decent Sunday lunch, and also down to the river where there is a seating area. Tip for anyone on this... go through the gate by the tent, follow it straight down to the river and the seating area is in the right hand corner. We had a job finding it at first. It's a nice place for a picnic or BBQ or just to sit and watch the river. All in all, we had a lovely time and would love to come back again one day. We stayed for 3 nights and could easily have stayed for longer. We couldn't fault it, and would highly recommend. Thank you very much.

A beautiful, secluded, luxury, glamping experience! The safari tent itself has everything you need for the perfect stay - in fact you may actually forget that it's a tent until you get into bed at night and you can hear the owls and then birds in the morning. There is a pretty little brook that our little boy loved watching little sticks float away, a fire pit to cook in, a hammock to read in, a separate bathroom which has hot water for a shower. There is a fabulous farm shop about 5 minutes drive away and also a local pub. We will look back on this magical trip with very fond memories and hope to return one day.

For a truly private and exclusive glamping experience this property a must to experience. You may have plans to visit various sights whilst staying, that will change because the location and surroundings are so beautiful, they'll keep you on site. Katherine is a fantastic host, a stay her comes highly recommended.

Stayed for lads weekend break (4 adults). Had great time. We had a very warm welcome. Nice Short walk (15 ish mins) to the pub through the orchards. Tranquil location. Enjoyed cooking and having laugh round the firepit. Was great though to have hot shower and gas cooking facilities inside also. Was cold being November but the log burner and plenty of wood stock was fantastic for keeping the chill out on the eve. Would highly recommend.

Respuesta de Katherine:
Hi Thank you Russel for your comments. You are right - we actually close that tent site mid November for the winter until late March. I have already decided the 'pallet pathway' is to go, and thanks for wising me about the tap. Feedback is crucial to keep on top of things. The tent is left standing but all is removed and therefore properly stored for winter cold time. I have two other sites which are all year, due to their structure and all year round ability to stay totally warm. Thank you for coming and being so adventurous. Camping it always should still be, but what you pay for is warmth and comfort, and that is what I should make sure I still provide. Please do come back or try one of the other two sites. They are all very different from each other. Best Katherine

Other than meet you on arrival and help with luggage to the tent (don't bring too much!) I will let you be. You will be given a lift back to your car with your luggage on your check out.

Acerca de Katherine

I am a mother of three - Jessica, Jack and Ben and married to a farmer in Herefordshire. I have a small holiday business there which I really enjoy and even though I love coming to London for short times as it keeps my sanity, we hardly visit our beautiful London house. I have loved creating a 'home from home' family house in London which others can now enjoy. I enjoy exploring new places and staying in unique properties. I am not one for sitting down too long and I have horses and dogs and when my children permit I can spend hours with them.
I believe that when you are travelling and spending money you want to feel special and valued, and I deeply dislike staying in modern, massive hotels - however smart!! If I was travelling to London with my family, I would much prefer to take a house like mine - this is why I have done it. Tell me what you think!
