The Studio is located about 2 miles outside of downtown Hood River. We have several guests that hike or bike to town, but generally speaking a car is necessary to visit the various sites of Hood River. Of special note…in the winter we are about 50 minutes from Mt. Hood Meadows ski resort and about 1 hour from Timberline ski resort. There are literally 50 hikes within a 30 minute drive of the Studio. We have a couple of good guide books for your use.
Our check in is 4pm on the day of your arrival. We are flexible with this depending on how busy the season is. Check out is 12 noon on the day of departure. Please contact us in person for any deviation of this policy. Although we love dogs in particular, we have guests who are regulars who are allergic to pets and we have maintained the Studio as pet free to honor them. Although there are some neighborhood cats who are quite friendly we ask that you interact with them outside the Studio and not allow them in.
The owners John and Alison are available for advice and referrals to the many offerings and activities of Hood River. Our tendency is not to bother our guests unless we're asked, but we really enjoy giving you our best advice for restaurants, water activities, hikes or the best wineries to visit. (Two within walking distance of the Studio)
John and Alison have lived in Hood River since 1993. They left a large California city to find a small town to raise their children. Hood River was such a good match. Beautiful in so many ways with so much to do - a very active community. They have taken great joy in being involved in theater, lots of recreation including kitesurfing, yoga, pickle ball, music and lots of good friends. Alison speaks spanish and John speaks jazz.
