The road to and from the apartment building is currently under refurbishment, so getting to and from the apartment at this time can be difficult. It is unclear when the road will be completed and it is unregistered at present, so very few taxis know the location
There is a small shop about 5 minutes walk where you can buy essentials. but for going out, unless you hire a motorbike, I suggest you take a reliable tuk-tuk or moto taxi. The English manager can arrange reliable transport for a one off ride, or on a daily basis. These drivers know the area, so can pick you up as many times a day as you want and take you wherever.

As far as self-catering budget accommodation goes, Robert's place ticks all the boxes! The apartment is in a building with foreigners from all countries. Wifi for $10 was very good and stable provided by the neighbour. Jerry the building manager is very hospitable and took me on his motorbike to the supermarket on my arrival. The building is off the main road and a bit of a walk from the shops. The apartment suited my purposes and I was happy to have stayed there.

Very secure place , lots of long term residents. off the beaten track but it says that and it's only a ten min even 7 min walk to a local bar / restaurant . Very safe place to stay.

It was really great staying at Robert's place. Apartment had everything I needed and the building was very secure. People who live in the building were very nice. Even though the area was very peaceful and local, there are lots of supermarkets and restaurants nearby. Of course it's easier to get around on a motorbike. Not a problem to rent it here though. I will definitely come back here again!

As a frequent visitor to Sihanoukville, I am aware of the localities and their various attractions; and I felt that Robert's apartment in Ocean View Apartment complex would fall pretty much in the right area for me. I could tell from Robert's description of the area, that his apartment was close to the Golden Lion; and therefore close to Ocheteaul Beach and Serendipity Beach. I was also fairly certain that it would give me good access to downtown, and other less touristy restaurants, bars, and shops. I was correct in my assessments, and once I became familiar with the various footpaths, and little tracks (even for a regular visitor, these can be a little confusing); I was able to walk to the very tourist areas of Serendipity in about ten minutes; with a little longer to get to downtown. Of course, like most people in Sihanoukville and indeed in this complex; my partner and I had transport; for my girlfriend a moto, and myself a bicycle. Using both felt safe (if a little bumpy on the Cambodian tracks); and parking was particularly safe within the complex (far more so than the average guesthouse). The whole complex, and therefore Robert's apartment felt safe and secure. Before booking with Robert, I exchanged emails through Airbnb with Robert (the usual type of questions I assume); and Robert was both informative and honest in his answers. I quickly realised that he would quite often leave local management up to his cousin Kerry, as Robert was usually living elsewhere in Cambodia; and subsequently I found this arrangement to work absolutely fine. I was given both Robert's and Kerry's local numbers upon booking the apartment; and everything from collecting the key upon arrival (with Kerry), to arranging the meter reading upon departure (with Robert) worked a treat. The apartment itself was spot on; and easily beat all the various guesthouses I have stayed in ( and normally paid more for). Just a simple thing, but I liked the fact that we could have a coffee, or cook a little breakfast; and this could be enjoyed on the quiet and shaded balcony. Equally, giving that we stayed five weeks, it was easy to see that there were some friendly long term owners/ guests staying in their apartments as well as a very friendly Cambodian overall owner of the complex. There were some issues with a low electricity output ( causing power to drop intermittently; but usually for only a short period); and some people might find the various footpaths and tracks a little dark (there is a lack of lighting); however we were comfortable with all of this in no time. My guess is; if you've made it all the way to Sihanoukville, Cambodia you will realise that this is just how things are.... All in all, I would definitely recommend Robert's apartment to other travellers and visitors.
