If you're thinking of coming to check out Chapala, you couldn't find better hosts than Randy and Kelly. They are amazing people, the kind of Airbnb hosts, that everyone dreams of having! They know the area intimately and are kind enough to share their knowledge. Kelly is a great, Zumba gold instructor, so if you love Zumba, you can get some classes in while here.
For a couple, either one of their two casitas is a great place to base yourself for exploring the Lakeside area, as they are far enough off the main carreterra highway, to be on a quiet street, but still close enough to make getting around easy.
If you don't want to deal with having a car here, and you might want to give that some thought, with lots of narrow, cobblestoned streets to deal with, it's only a short walk of a couple blocks to catch any one of the clean, cheap, local buses that come by often, all day long. There's a great little cafe called La Huerta near the bus stop that has great breakfast
The casitas have everything you need for a comfy stay. There's a large outdoor terrace with hammock and a small, sparkling, blue pool. Both kitchens have all the basics, in fact, the kitchen in the downstairs poolside casita is pretty large. But, if you'd rather not spend vacation days cooking, there are a ton of restaurants in the Lakeside area, plus safe, delicious, street food (yes!) and it's only a 5 minute walk to a great little cafe called La Huerta, near the bus stop. They serve a yummy breakfast, American or Mexican style.
Randy and Kelly's places have great internet, a Roku, upstairs in the 1 bedroom Las Palmas casita, which is where we are staying, and lots of DVDs you can borrow.
We're so happy here, we just extended our stay, so you'll have to wait a bit to book but the Lakeside life, here at Randy and Kelly's Las Palmas casita, is worth the wait!
